Been discussed (a lot). No it’s not really feasible (and I say that as one of the authors for Pythagoras). Pretty sure Jen’s has commented many many months ago that this idea was a no. That about sums it up.
Well, it is “possible” but its a ton of work. Walls would have to be adjusted, ceiling tiles would have to be adjusted, and so forth. It would be like creating a second set of building tiles to accommodate 90 degree triangle pieces in T1, T2, and T3 pieces across all DLCs, too. So it is possible in a physical sense, but its a mountain of time and work that could be better put to other tasks. I think that’s what was meant by “no.”
Oh yeah I hadn’t considered that one side would be longer… of course.
So in that case it wouldn’t need just need a new foundation and ceiling piece it would need -
Right angle foundation.
Right angle ceiling piece
Large wall
Large doorframe.
Hmm well whilst that would no doubt take some time and work to impliment, i personally would rather see this than some of the suggested upcoming changes. Perhaps enough players feel the same way, so I won’t lose all hope just yet.
All I know is on the end user side, it would make building so much easier. Can’t tell you how many times i’ve wished I had a right triangle foundation/floor/ceiling piece.
And having to rewrite the socket code in order to accommodate the longer side. Pythagoras has issues because of that, among many other things it isn’t naturally designed for but we just shrug our shoulders because “it’s a mod so it has its quirks.”
The only way I could see it justified is a $25 DLC. And I honestly think I’m low balling that number.
Therefore most everything artistic has to be much larger, so one needs to tinker with scale and fore-shortening to make the thing look good. And generally then from only one or two angles. It seems to me those missing pieces cost us a lot of server resources over time.
