Where did they announce that they’re suspending services in Cuba? How did you find out?

My account started showing the Connection Refused error every time I tried to enter a server, I live in Cuba and the email that is in the message above was the one that was sent to me.

See the picture above
That was their reponse after a lot of emails complaining

So there was no warning whatsoever?

Do you two have any idea what prompted this?

We don’t know. We only know that what they did is illegal. It is illegal to sell something to someone and then forbid them to use it.

I’m so sorry this is happening.

Would there be a possibility that their “internal policies” conflict with Cuban government policies? Did something happen recently?

I know other companies have suspended services in other countries before, may it be something similar?

It won’t let us enter any server.

Not that we are aware of, but if they were going to do that the least they could do is refind the game and all DLCs to everyone thay bought them.

It may be temporary if this is the case but I think you would first need to determine the actual cause of course.

I couldn’t find anything by doing a Google search.

That email is just another example of their poor communication track record but it reads like they’re covering their butts.

Steam allows Cubans to play, and it is an American platform, so they have no reason whatsoever to do that they have done. They are not even responding here or by email.

I realize how frustrating this is but they do have a reason; whether it is justified is a different matter.

You are owed an explanation and if you’re never able to play again absolutely in my opinion you are owed at least a refund.

Have you tried a VPN?

The account is blocked it doesn’t matter from when you enter now.

Some Muslim countries get the same treatment due to the content of the game. It must be some sort of government driven issue. I haven’t been keeping up, but has the Cuban government actively taken Russia’s side, much like China did? If so, it might be something to do with that?

Maybe because the bazaar is not legal?

What are WE speculating here?
Isn’t this thread asking for an answer from THEM???

It’s a forum, what do you expect people to do?

No, it’s not. This thread is doing a few things – threatening legal action, asking people to send their contact information to an e-mail address, presenting an ultimatum – but asking for an answer isn’t one of them.

Refunding the affected players would be morally correct, but it’s not likely to happen.

If they’re suspending services in a country, it’s probably because there’s some kind of legal reason to do so, i.e. to avoid some kind of legal trouble. Refunding people – giving them money – would probably get them in that same legal trouble they’re trying to avoid.

As for threats of legal action, those are, unfortunately, empty threats. Funcom’s EULA gives them the right to unilaterally revoke service to anyone for any reason.

It sucks, but that’s the way these things work.

Did you tried it with a reliable VPN?

You say your account is physically blocked but that doesn´t make any sense what so ever because you could move to another country or travel around the world and then you game account wouldn´t fall under the current cuban law anymore and Funcom would need to physically unban your account. I do not believe that they block users manually this way. Too much effort to manually ban every user of a spezific country. It seems and sounds more like a general region lock.

I am not familiar with the launcher technical wise but you might also have to change some steam settings if the launcher also uses steam data´s in regards to checking region to connect to the servers.
