Scourstone fragment found in unlikely place

Odd, I thought Gall Man’s tomb, the Pass, and Flotsam were the places to go to get the pieces for the Scourgestone; but look at this; apparently you can skip Flotsam /shrug. This sucks, it is not the same thing as fighting your way up to the Black Hand Captain, or discovering the pass, nor having to fight a three-skull world boss. This should not be so, in my opinion, but I am not going to argue with anyone that disagrees, “Let it be”.

Yeah, there’s always been a few places that Gall 0’ the Spear-din or Hekr Waverunner can spawn randomly - around various Black Hand camps. I always seem to end up with more spare copies of that piece than of the other two, just from randomly bumping into them.

(That said - I’ve noticed on my current playthrough that it feels like they are showing up more often than they used to - it used to still be fairly rare, but I’ve bumped into a couple of them in the last few sessions of my current game. Might just be coincidence, or maybe something has changed in the spawn rate.)

I doubt newer players would know that; I have logged over 5k hours of gameplay (noob) and have never seen this on many runs, I have always been directed to the three locations on my searches. /shrug

There’s always more to learn (one of the good things with this game), no matter how many thousands of hours we might put in  The three locations are the reliable ones, so it makes sense to direct people there (I feel like there’s even some in game lore that suggests it - think it’s some of the dialogue from Petruso). But like I said, I feel like the spawn rate may have changed recently, which might explain why you hadn’t seen it before; I know I definitely had whole playthroughs where I never encountered the extra spawns (or maybe some where I encountered them but didn’t kill them for whatever reason, so didn’t notice it then either).

So many strange little bits to this game to find - like figures trapped in ice, or chests that only spawn if you follow the right thing (I think the ‘bear ghost’ chest has been bugged for a long time, but I seem to recall there was another one in Eyelet lake connected to seeing some other ghosts, and there’s definitely still the ghost chest down at noob river). And then there’s also weird little encounters like the ‘Angry Mountain Goat’. It’s just such a shame that so many of the ghosts are bugged, but there’s still a crazy amount of little stuff to be found exploring in odd places

There were supposed to be more fragments.
But the implementation was half baked and then abandoned.
So of course, the humanoid boss that drops one can be a random spawn in numerous locations.

It was like that before.

As an aside Gall makes a pretty decent thrall when leveled. Can exceed cimm berserker HP though he’s agility based so there’s that catch.

No idea what his damage multiplier is and don’t care enough to check. I’d assume it’s less than berserkers and such. If not then don’t let Funcom know…

Not really, heh.

There’s certainly no reason to go for Gall over the ridiculously easy to get cimm berserkers. But if one falls into your lap… Especially on a new character which is what happened with this one. He showed up at my tavern and I ran with it. He gains a lot of hp per vitality and has high percentage chances. This one has no major vitality perks but is still over 5k hp and has over 1700 armor with perfected made by a t3 armorer. Seems decent to me.

Decent enough, as a meatshield, sure, but he is not going to help much on DPS; having so many options, from Spinas and his 3 tweens, to Dalinisia. My Vendyhan Camel has 30 thousand hp, and he draws a LOT of agro and seems to hold it well. But yeah, I guess Gall is decent.
