Screen/PC freeze and are unresponsive upon exiting game

Bug Description:
After clicking the exit button on the main menu to close the game, it exits to desktop like usual. But while Steam is in the process of closing the program, both my screen and PC freeze and become unresponsive. I then have to perform a hard reset of my PC in order to return it to normal. It has happened now three consecutive times.

Bug Reproduction:

  1. Exit server to main menu. 2. Click exit button to close game. 3. After returning to desktop my screen/PC freezes and is unresponsive until hard reset.
