Bug Description:
Server crashed earlier and has been offline for hours now
Bug Reproduction:
I restarted steam, Restarted game several times. Server showed up once with 9999 ping and went back down
Just transfered to 1940 … server has been down for several hours.
yeah its been down since 4/17 early afternoon. Ive reached out in many ways and not getting any updates
I got booted when it went down. Alot of people have reached out everywhere but FunCom just doesn’t care I guess.
I switched to 1500 and it has also now gone down. I don’t remember it being this bad years ago.
Yeah im disappointed. I hope someone gets around to doing something. Gportal told me they will get in contact with someone. They cant do much without permission.
What action do they need permission for?
G-portal needs Dev permission to restart or make changes to server. They only monitor it and pass on information because Funcom only controls them. They can’t just do it on their own. This is mainly to avoid any issues as Funcom “improves” the game. I’ve made a ticket and went to their twitter pages to get thier attention. So far nothing and based off of other peoples posts about their servers being down. Looks like we wont be able to get back on for a few days. Im hoping I’m wrong. I hope its not an actual DDos and just the server being overloaded and stuck in a loop of rebooting.
This is because FC is GPortal’s customer in this situation.
It’s currently the weekend and usually FC doesn’t work weekends.
The good news is Dana (Community Manager) has been very active on the forums of late and she should be able to respond to you tomorrow morning.
What I don’t understand: If Funcom is paying for the server, and the server isn’t working correctly, why would G-Portal need permission to return the services to the server? If it is not a matter of compatibility between the program and the services…
I hope it comes back online soon. I don’t want to lose my bases.
I agree, if going based on your sentiment, that the level of service is simply unacceptable.
However, as much as I’ve dogged on FC, Dana’s involvement of late is a step in the right direction.
They can do better and should. I’m only stating what I know based on observation.
Because Officials are managed by FC.
No matter how ■■■■■■they run them, GPortal isn’t concerned.
No matter what there’s a level of service expectation. But we can’t make a third party bend to our will when we’re not the ones paying them. It’d be the same if we independently had servers we pay for, no one else has access to make changes or demands as it should be.
It’s shit but that is where we are.
I just don’t get it. They are GPortal ran servers, right? As in, individuals on GPortal pay roll are tasked with running and maintaining the servers (?). That’s the whole point of outsourcing that services for your customers, you pay someone else to maintain it… If this isn’t the dynamic between GPortal and Funcom, then please disregard all. But, if it’s not, then Funcom paid for public services for those who bought their products to be run on servers paid for by Funcom… I would think it would be extremely bad business to require your customer (us) to info GPortal that the services bought and paid for by Funcom are no longer available. Then require Funcom to approve the maintance on products already purchased by Funcom, and by us, who bought and operated the software under certain expectations. It smells like a bunch of people not wanting to do their job to me…
… or GPortal throwing ever road block possible to extend the life of its equipment.
Cersei they just host the servers Funcom codes them. If Gportal does anything it can mess with the coding. As someone who has rented from them before I would not want them to restart my servers and accidently mess up my settings. They can only do so much on their end and its nothing to do with the game. I hope that helps you understand. We don’t want them rolling it back to a point that will mess with recent updates either.
Exactly but it’s not GPortal fvcking it up here.
Here’s a similar example. You’re a customer of Bank X, but Bank X uses the services of Amazon’s AWS. Bank X screwed up somewhere that causes a problem to access their services through AWS, you contacting AWS won’t make a difference for 2 reasons: you’re not AWS’ customer AND it’s isn’t AWS’ fault.
It’s really not GPortal’s fault, it’s FUNCOMs. So GPortal can’t do a thing.
It does help me understand. It just seems very non-customer friendly, very frail frame-work they’re both using… If I were the one spending the capital, I would be upset that my customers cannot get to the products both they, and I have invested in. It wouldn’t matter to me if it was a problem with the game, or the services I’ve purchased for my customers, its a bad look…
That’s an interesting scenario… outside of this situation, I really can’t think of a single place this set up would be beneficial to any party involved. Anti-Customer service
I can agree with you there. As far as customer service goes. Dealing with Funcom isn’t easy. Was being ddos in 2020 and they did nothing. As far as G-portal, I as a customer of theirs hosting private servers of my own had never had issues with them. Gportal already told me they will go above and beyond and let funcom know but that’s all they can do until funcom says they can. I cant expect more from them.
