Severe Lag & Rubberbanding Offline... STILL?

So here we are again :flushed:
Gave the game a break on my PS4 PRO over 6 months ago due to these issues, among many others and had hoped in that time some amount of effort or work would have been put forth for these issues that have existed for over 2 years now :open_mouth:

Some issues i have noticed as of today since patch 1.61

  • world bosses disappearing after death.
  • enemies still teleporting.
  • obtained a permanent purple screen effect from gaining corruption in the Unnamed city that did not go away until i logged out & in.
  • textures still losing resolution on EVERYTHING (building pieces / environment / enemies / animals / etc
)
  • Constant stuttering throughout every area on the map (even in an empty desert with no building pieces or animals / enemies anywhere in sight)
  • Audio delay on almost every instance, ie = you hit an enemy & sound arrives 1-2 seconds after / you hit the ground from a high fall & broken leg sounds arrive 1-5 seconds later & this goes on through out various in game instances.
  • Target lock, on some enemies only activates now when i am so close i can kiss them (skeletons in War Makers was prevalent) seems to work fine for most other animals and larger enemies, but not always.
  • Bug where a message saying i activated a trap in War Makers would continually flash across my screen until i logged out / in.
  • Not to mention the constant & consistent lag + stuttering & rubberbanding (which alone is enough to ruin any gameplay experience and at times is expected with some large multiplayer games, but
 I am playing Single Player OFFLINE)
  • All of this experienced within 1 hour of playing Conan Exiles version 1.61 
 I would say i am at a lost for words, but i have plenty to explain and describe in detail my experiences.

Any kind of optimizing patch or fix at all in regard to my core issue involving lag + stuttering + rubberbanding should have been implemented a long time ago, but i do have empathy / understanding & patience for outside factors + tricky workarounds + or just time to examine the issue and devise a solution


At this point, after 2 years = this should not still be an issue, unless this is the best FUNCOM can do involving the console ports and i would honestly understand that + respect it and move on, but the constant promises of fixes + updates + patches that never solve the long lasting and MOST important issues with this game inplace of outright honesty that you are unable to solve the problem is at this point in time = outright dishonest + manipulative + and utterly horrible choices on your behalf from a consumer standpoint.

That may have come across mean spirited to some, but to me i look at everything objectively and rarely if ever subjectively. This is not me being mean or acting on emotion, this is simply the facts & honest truth about the state of the game now and well the state it has been in for far too long.

I had some optimism when downloading Conan Exiles again after my break from it. Am very sad to say this was not a happy return and the last bit of optimism i had has now turned to pessimism and that is not something i often want in my life and avidly try to avoid situations & experiences that make me adopt this line of thinking.

Before you ask HUGO, i have tried everything you and others have recommended & advised = numerous clean installs + system clean ups + cache clearing + external SSD + disabling Boost Mode + even the worst suggestion i have ever heard from a game developer = to lower my resolution settings to 720p :open_mouth:
This particular advice is astonishing, why would an individual who purchased a current gen console (PS4 PRO at that) with a top tier 4k HDR TV would ever want to play a current gen game with 720p settings ??? And because i had a suspicion about this advice due to how absurd it was, i tried it and every issue i have mentioned here in forums as well as thousands of others still remained @ 720p :unamused:

I honestly believe this is my final post here as i feel all the effort i have put into finding and reporting massive issues with your game are either written off completely + ignored + responded with scripted solutions and fixes that never work + often claiming it is something on my end via installation + internet connection, or a myriad of other blame shifting responses to downright honest complaints and issues.

For a PRODUCT i have spent near $200 on and have continous issues with for years is beyond unacceptable at this point from a consumer standpoint and at a fundemantal level = you have sold us a broken product and even worst you refuse to admit that it is anyone’s fault but your own. As mentioned before = i would understand and respect a response that claimed you tried your best with the engine & tech you have and are continuing to, but at this point and time this console port cannot be optomized or fixed and we will ensure our next iteration doesn’t suffer from the same mistakes. I would honestly applaud you for that and i would have more optimism for any and all of your future products, but


The path you have chosen inplace has led to these thoughts i am sharing now and my overall opinion of any future DLC + games / projects
 I have literally lost faith that you are able to salvage this game and making promises and statements that are consistently dishonest has lead to this mindset for myself and almost every person i have played this game with in the past. Currently out of 75 players i use to play with, none of them play anymore and have outright refused to re-install the game. Which currently makes me the gullible one and that does not make me feel good at all.

If you have read up to this point thank you and please know that like any other human i can and have been wrong, you may very well surprise me or proove me wrong in the future, but the point i am making is the experience i have had along with many others is your own doing to deliver us to this point. As we all loved this game and wanted to see it succeed and grow, but i fear this will never be the case if this is how the game and communication with it’s community is handled.

Please also know that after hundreds if not 1000 + hours spent with this game + reporting bugs & issues + interacting with the community on varying levels about problems and solutions + giving constructive criticism + suggestions + etc = none of this was done with ill intent or malice in my heart / mind. I did it because i loved your game, but i fear this is a lost cause and am heart broken to arrive at this conclusion, but it is better than the feeling of being lied to + strung along or manipulated when it involves something you love. It is a horrible feeling and conclusion to arrive at, but here we are :flushed:

At the end of the day you and other developers honestly have continuously used us for bug testing your game for you (for FREE) as paying customers and even though we do the vast majority of work for you because we either love your game or feel the effort we put in will better the products we have payed $$$ for at some point and time. You have not fixed or rectified the issues since day 1. I am very certain you have tested these issues and many others on all consoles, as to not do so would be blatant negligence on your behalf as a company and still being fully aware of the issues you either deny they exist / ask for evidence on our behalf even though these issues are clearly evident and all you have to do is play your own game on a console or what i find most appalling, you keep telling us a fix is on the way :flushed:

I do honestly hope i am wrong and there is hope for the future of this game or series, but with that said it is not where my thoughts are sitting.

Thanks for taking the time to read this rant of sorts and i hope you newer players are enjoying your experience as i once did, not long ago. I honestly had more to say, but i am positive it won’t matter or make a difference anyway, i have given up at this point.


Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. Start the game
  2. Load into Campaign (offline)
  3. Play the game (any area on the map)
  4. Happens in every and all instances you can possibly imagine or ask me (before you ask me)

Hello @Rawflux, it’s unfortunate that none of the provided workarounds have helped in addressing or mitigating the performance issues you’ve been experiencing, as they’ve helped other players in the past.

We’ve previously asked you for some footage of the issues you’ve reported after the suggested workarounds were attempted so we could better understand the situation:

Without having further data we’re unable to provide any assistance specific to your case.

Optimization and bug fixing is part of our ongoing patching efforts, and we’re committed to continue improving the game as far as performance, stability, and balancing are concerned.
Stating we ignore the issues is not accurate as our developers often make use of reports gathered from the community and their data, and the scripted solutions we offer at start are part of an expected funneling process that helps pinpoint any possible causes.

@HUGO was wondering when you’d pop up.

The reason i have never uploaded video footage Firstly. Is because every issue i have ever brought up and mentioned, are the exact (copy / paste) problems with NO deviation from similarities whatsoever, that countless other players have already posted repeatedly for years now. They have provided you with an archives worth of photo & video proof of again, the exact issues to a T.

Secondly, HUGO = this is not my JOB to do the legwork for you and FUNCOM and honestly at the level of bug reports & evidence we as players have given you over 2 years to work with, you should have way more than enough to know exactly what the problems are. As to a solution = this is your JOB.

Thirdly, if this were a FREE to play game with micro / macro transactions i could forgive alot more if not everything, but you have charged a “Triple A” game price for something that is horribly optimised & very poorly handled in regard to QA and Bug Testing throughout this games lifespan.

Fourthly, i will say one last time = this is NOT my JOB. If you design and sell a product, it is down to you and your team ALONE to find and solve these issues. What we do as players and customers in regard to reporting bugs is helping you and your team as a favor and if you had no bug reports coming from us at all = it still falls on you and your team to find these bugs and correct them regardless when a game runs as Conan does for the mass majority of time.

Us working around your problems + ignoring them + putting up with them + suffering through them + reporting them in MASS (if we choose), is our only JOB as paying customers of your product.

If you expect your customers and players to do the tedious heavy lifting involving this aspect of game testing and you expect it this often. Not only for this game, but other games. I can assure you that you will continue to lose old players and new for this game and likley many other games you produce = this is a FACT. How nobody at FUNCOM realizes this, is absurd and illogical from any perspective you can possibly quantify.

Utilize that TENCENT influx of revenue and hire many more testers + ramp up your QA on your end and stop rushing altered mechanics & payed DLC that only continue to further break your game on consoles.

I didn’t spend years within the gaming Industry to not have a grasp and understanding of productive and proper protocols & practices that WORK. They are labeled as such for that exact reason = they WORK. If i had to literally define and explain these step by step to you in reports, then i have zero faith in FUNCOM & it’s team if this is your level of fundamental understanding within the industry.

@Hugo, Lastly i want to thank you for the exact reply i should have been expecting at this point & time. As it has made my decision very clear = i will be deleting my purchased game from my library for good + will no longer buy any FUNCOM products in the future and most importantly i will continue to avidly advise others in my social circles + gaming communties + discords + etc
 To not purchase any products from FUNCOM as well and for as long as i can possibly can.

Every step of the way with your product, you have grossly and poorly mishandled almost every aspect of a multitude of issues in more ways than i thought was possible with a game.

I have recently read through numerous internal employee reviews of your company both in Norway & America + various BBB claims and reports + countless Discords & Reddit forums and honestly i have only myself to blame for not doing my own due diligence in this regard before paying you $$$ for this product.

At this point and time it is dysfunctional to continue on this path expecting something different to occur on your behalf. It is almost downright insane. Walking away is not only healthy to do at this point, it is clearly the only right & sane thing to do.

I wish you all the best Hugo as a human being, but do understand the company you work for or are affiliated with has either no just or moral concern for their consumers and / or are either too inexperienced to fix their own product or outright refuse to do so and continue to sell it regardless of knowing so which is immoral and inexcusable.

Sorry Funcom. Longtime, day 1 player here. The patch suffers from extreme lag. It starts at the intro video, carries into the server listing, and is unbearable in the game. Enemies transport during fights because of the lag. It’s like fighting ghosts that aren’t there. Too risky to play and just not fun. Please rollback/fix this soonest. Still love the game, when it’s playable.

I said alot of this when this game launched don’t trust Funcom as Age of Conan is a really good example of how this company works of course I got attacked by the white knights back when I said these things. Hopefully they learn a bit from it and listen as well as make sure not to push games out so early to make $$$ and fix bugs instead. They did delay the game for a few months but again the guys up top that aren’t developers are more concerned for money instead of quality they wanted to push the game out hence where we are at now so I don’t blame the developers or coders it’s not them it’s the owners and whoever is on the top branch of Funcom to blame as they don’t care if it’s broken as long as they get there $$$. Hopefully things do get better as there are times the game runs good but then they release a patch that mess with certain things they need to try and do a test branch on console like steam but they can’t since console won’t allow it that’s the console companies fault. What happened to the good old days games just working right our the box :joy::rofl:. There should be more strict rules and laws in place so games don’t get released as I say half baked.

So after Sony system update yesterday, I did not have the same lag issues I had the day after the Funcom patch. Moved around fine and had no issues with fights. So I’m not sure if part/any of the lag was Sony’s end. Generally CE has worked well for me since day 1. Yes, there’s been other issues like floating thrills and such in the earlier days and people who drop 200 animals around their bases, but all told Conan is still a great game.

All that said, we could use a few more updated dungeons and more settlements in the jungle/island areas to the east.

Ran around my server about 45 minutes after Sony update last night didn’t have any noticable issues have to check with floating stairs still.
