Singleplayer crashes to Xbox Dashboard after attemping to load saved game after Age of Heroes Update

I don think building size is the issue. I have the exact same issue on Siptah with a large, but normal sized base and around 20 thralls/animals. My game crashed when leaving a vault. I have experienced crashing after leaving a vault earlier when wearing a certain set from the bountyhunters. I tried all options to restore my single player game, but looks like im out of luck. Hope this gets adressed in the next round of fixes.

Bug description
Game crashed while loading a single player save at around 60% without fail, after a crash leaving a vault. Can play exiled lands single player and online games on EL and Siptah without any problems. I play Conan using Gamepass, and bought the Siptah DLC, Nemidian DLC and architects DLC. Also used the nude DLC

Tried: reinstalling, deleting cache, deleting local save files, loading up the other single player map before loading Siptah, playing online. In earlier crashes the game loaded up after a game reset.

Reproduction
After leaving Sanctuary of the Snakemen
Had a base near the coast between the castaway camp and legendary giant spider and vault
Had around 20 different thralls and animals
Had a large treasure room of level III
Recently did my first purge
Used a lot of different building styles
Had 2 large buildings, and some smaller buildings and fortified walls
Had a bridge over a small ravine to the east, and a tower giving quick acces to the Leyshrine of the Serpent
Had 2 named level 20 thralls with me (maxed out the follower stat), using legendary enhanced warhammers, and legion armor with plates. They had gruel and some heavy loot with them
Before leaving the vault I exchanged loot with them
I was wearing a lot of loot taken from the vault
My character was wearing a dragon armor, legendary durable shield and a one handed legendary sword that gave +15% strength damage
All equipment had improvements on them
Experienced no earlier crashes while outside
Did experience earlier crashed after leaving other vaults, but could reload after using a mix of suggestions like above
Never start the game from quick resume, always remove it after playing

Added to this topic because im experiencing the same issue, hope it gets some attention and hopefully resolved. Would be sad to lose all the builds

No idea why its working for me or if it will work for you. I crashed like 20 times in a rowā€¦holding movement stick makes it loadā€¦tested multiple times and it works for some reason. If i do nothing it crashes. Hold stick loads

Thanks for sharing your potential solution, really glad its worked for you and hope it works for others too. Unfortunately on my end it hasnā€™t worked, but strangely it does seem to do something, as when i first tried it, holding up on the left stick during the load it froze on the loading screenat the end rather than dashboarding, i did wait quite a while before having to relent and dashboard it myself. Have tried different directions and the A button, sometimes it freezes on load screen sometimes it dashboards, which is very odd as would think it wouldnā€™t make a difference what was pressed during a load screen.

I was wondering, since youā€™re able to load into your saved game now, have you disabled Living Settlements through the Server settings option once in your saved world and has that made any difference to the game loading up normally when you restart?

I appreciate you trying to help us! Tried your solution a couple times though and I also had no success :frowning:

I havent disabled it, though i probably should have as im experiencing a bunch of the issues that i wasnt having before (crafter thralls teleporting off map or to the place near the dam, etc) which will hopefully be fixed by the patch.

As i said, i have no idea why mine works this way. When i was trying to load in before i crashed like 15 or 20 times and nothing worked (reinstall, clearing save and redownload from cloud, etc)

The first time i was just pressing a and b at the same time and i noticed it didnt crash the same wayā€¦then i held up on the stick and i spawned in on my single player game in the desert where you start (was not there when i closed out before, but i spawned in with all my inventory and equipment)

Now when i load it, if i press nothing i crash 100% of the time, if i just hold movement in some direction it loads in 95% of the time (i get a rare crash every now and then, but not like before where it always crashed)

Did you try holding other stuffā€¦i know it sounds stupid and realistically i dont think it should work, but for some reason it is for meā€¦im guessing i have a weird bug that is causing my issues because really this should change nothing, i just found by accident that this allowed it to load.

Turn off living settlements in single player. Shouldnā€™t have a problem after. I lost 1 crafter to that living settlements crap. Turned it off as soon as she vanished. No issues since- 4 year old single player save doesnā€™t crash, no more awol crafters, no companion quests breaking.

Platform: Xbox One
Type of problem: Crash
Game mode: Single Player
Server type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server name: Singleplayer

I had the same problem before Age Of Heroes: it was exactly the same problem. The only solution I found was to start over from scratch.

I suspect that the problem was caused by the amount of thralls I had; I had been playing for some time and was testing some things through the Admin panel to create a Concept Base with archers positioned around a very large wall that, in turn, surrounded an oriental castle.

I believe that the problem was not the construction, because I never finished building it, except for the wall.

The problem started with the addition of archers; the game started closing by itself from time to time until it no longer opened. It started closing during the gameā€™s loading screen.

Now, in Age of Heroes, I have the same problem. After restarting the game from scratch, I built a few bases around the world, but only one of them is really big (not exaggeratedly, but big).

But before building this base, I built another one of medium size, and there I started having these crashing problems.

This makes me suspect that the problem is not the size of the bases but rather the amount of Thralls and Pets, because the problems started when I started capturing some Thralls and Pets and placing them in the Base.

After a while, I built the second base, which is bigger, and for a while the problems stopped, even though the base was bigger.

So I started populating this Base and the problems came back: from time to time the game would close by itself.

Finally, I managed to find and rescue a tavern attendant and decided to build a tavern in my base. Well, things got worse.

I finally reached level 60 and managed to craft some steel clubs and went out to capture some T3 and T4 minions. I didnā€™t even get to position them. The game started to crash much more frequently, until it stopped opening, crashing and closing during the loading screen.

Anyway, I believe that with the crashes and freezes, the game file must have become corrupted.

I canā€™t think of any other solution other than starting over from scratch.

But, if what Iā€™m suspecting makes sense, the only way to play this game is by severely limiting the number of Thralls and Pets in a base. What about the Tavern? I donā€™t think itā€™s possible to dream of having one with this recurring problem.

Itā€™s almost too lazy to think about starting over from scratch. Even using the Admin panel to recover some things that were lost, it kills the experience.

Platform: Xbox One
Problem Type: Crash
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: Singleplayer
Mods = I donā€™t use mods
Bug Description: Game crashes and closes by itself and, after a while, crashes on the loading screen, preventing the game from opening

Bug Reproduction: Iā€™m not sure, but I think creating a base with a lot of slaves, workers, pets, at least 1 safe with some stuff inside, a tavern with a bartender. Note: I had around 60 to 70 slaves and pets. I had the living settlements feature active, but Iā€™ve had this exact problem in Age of War, so I think the living settlements arenā€™t the problem.

PS: just adding some information to the form, in case Funcom pays attention to this problem.

Single player mode is different to other server types. It uses your console as the server, so when you have a large base with a lot of placeables and thralls, youā€™re going to have issues- especially on last generation consoles.

Hello. Thanks for the tip.

I tested it by deleting only the memory saved on my console (about 250 MG of data). Then, I accessed the game again and, after synchronization, it accessed normally.

So, it worked here in my case.

I played for about 30 minutes in this larger base that I built and the game crashed again, but I was able to access it again.

I think the solution will be to eliminate some thralls, pets and make this Base a little smaller (although, in terms of workbenches, it only has the essentials, since I only have one workbench of each type: an improved furnace, a blacksmithā€™s workbench, a carpentry workbench, furniture, molding, etc.). In fact, I donā€™t even have all the workbenches in this base.

But, I theorize that the cause of the problem is not the workbenches. The problems started when I placed some chests and then got worse when I placed a safe and, even worse, when I placed a Tavern counter. It could be a coincidence, because while I was adding these things, I was also adding thralls, so who knows. There are too many variables to test exactly what is causing the problem.

However, in short, Iā€™m going to scale things down a lot, because I donā€™t see any other way around it.

So thereā€™s a way to disable the living settlements now? But i have to be able to get into the game first? Argh that doesnā€™t help me at all D:

Same problem for me. Tried loading in different days at different times and 9/10 times it crashes back to home screen when the load bar fills up. Iā€™ve managed to get into it maybe twice but it crashes back to home screen after about 10-20 seconds, barely time to access a menu. Compared to how long it takes to load into the game this is just killing it for me, i canā€™t stare at load screens all day hoping itā€™s going to come on. The last event with the werewolf attacks wasnā€™t working, i reported it and nothing happened, and now this one has straight up broke the game. I barely want to play this anymore because itā€™s so bugged out

I finally got in!!

My friend suggested that i just keep trying and trying for awhile and see what happensā€¦ so I did so spamming buttons and joystick movements every time as devilseyes21 suggested and it finally let me load after about the 7th try!

I suggest to everyone having this issue, if you arenā€™t already, put your game in performance mode as well and just dont give up!

Once in I disabled living settlements and I no longer have issues loading. So without a doubt its just way to taxing to my game with how much I have going onā€¦ maybe I will tone things down a little hahaā€¦

I definitely want to experience living settlements though so I will be doing that on my siptah save! Thanks funcom for continuing to add cool stuff to this game

I was having issues crashing in-game but havenā€™t had any issues since turning off living settlements. Only other issue I had was when I placed a barkeep and it was causing loading issues and crashing in-game. However, after Break Bond (deleting) the barkeep Iā€™ve had no issues. I wasnā€™t really thrilled with living settlements. I do miss having a barkeep at the tavern.
