Platform: Xbox Series X
Issue Type: Crash
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: PvE
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: Singleplayer
Bug Description:
On my Xbox Series X after the Age of Heroes update, the game crashes to Xbox dashboard when initial load bar reaches the end rather than the game world loading up. I have also tried loading into my saved game using xbox cloud streaming on my phone, as well as my Xbox One X and the game does same thing, crashes when load bar reaches the end. I have also attempted all the steps like uninstall and reinstall, hard xbox reset etc. Furthermore, my partner is able to create a new character and load up the game world just fine on the same xbox series x, but when switching back to my profile and attempting to load my saved world, game crashes.
Bug Reproduction:
Loading up the game from xbox series x dashboard, Selecting Singleplayer/Co-Op option on homescreen, selecting Continue, pressing X to select Play in single-player. Same crash occurs on Xbox Cloud Streaming and Xbox One X when attempting to load my saved game.
I am having this exact issue. It will load about 3/4 full and then crash to dashboard. I really hope I haven’t lost everything I have spent so much time on my world!
I have two theories but no idea what to do.
I know that I had a LOT of thralls and I am hoping just the sheer amount of them is not what the problem is.
My other thought is how I messed around a bunch with admin panel during the age of war update because the event wouldn’t trigger for me. For some reason I could not bring my level back to lvl 60. I was still able to play just fine though until now. Funcom plz help us! D:
I’m having the exact same issue, when load bar reaches end the game crashes to Xbox dashboard. I have tried everything to try resolving the issue including reinstalling the game.
Just tried this, Official works fine, played a couple hours with no issues. Logged out and loaded up Singleplayer, same issue with it crashing back to dashboard when load bar reaches end
How big is your base in regards to pieces / placeables / thrall count? I’m on Series X Single Player on a 3 year old save on Exiled Lands. No issues with loading in. Try clearing your Series X cache, delete your local save game data from the console only or resyncing your Gamertag to the console
Been having this same problem. Game ran just fine before the age of heroes. Maybe it’s because I logged out at Freya’s Hovel, but tbh that shouldn’t be causing my game to crash repeatedly when loading. Guess it’s just more of Funcom’s mess. Can’t believe how incompetent the development team is. I want to love this game so bad, but with the release of every update makes me want to play it less and less, and now my saved game with years of progress won’t load anymore might just be the final nail in the coffin for me.
running the game off internal ssd, expansion card ssd and external hdd
deleting all dlc and attempting to load into singleplayer
loaded singleplayer Isle of Siptah, loads fine
logged into Official exile lands, loads fine
ran game via Xbox Cloud streaming, still wont load into my saved singleplayer exile lands
ran game on my xbox one x and synced up, still wont load singleplayer exile lands
tried both Quality mode and Performance modes
turning Auto HDR on/off
The fact it crashes even when attempting to load up singleplayer exile lands on Xbox Cloud Streaming would suggest something very incompatible in my game world or save file.
As for how many thralls and base sizes, i had a structure of about 8000 building pieces built in the desert, another large structure of about 3000 building pieces elsewhere, and a handful of much smaller builds (maybe a couple hundred building pieces). Not sure how many thralls in total, but as an estimate would say under 100.
I’ve played the last couple months in Creative Mode/admin enabled building so not 100% sure what my exile lands singleplayer level was, I think it was around level 45. My Siptah character I created and started playing just recently and is currently Level 15
You could take the nuclear option and wipe your EL server, then transfer your Siptah character across. I use my Siptah character as my EL backup in case something goes wrong with my EL save
I’m not too worried about the loss of character, more the builds in the world that took a long time to construct, so I know a fresh start could be the only option if Funcom haven’t acknowledged this bug/issue some people are having and working on a potential solution

Same issue as noted above. Same steps taken to resolve, except I have NO Siptah save file. Nuclear solution is not an option as I do not want to lose all my Sacred Hunt and Bounty Hunter items and followers. This issue sporadically occurred before Age of Heroes. Repeated attempts (3-5) to load the game would eventually succeed. My spouses Lvl 42 character, under her own login, also will not load and CTD.
Delete your save game on console only and resync the cloud. With builds on single player, try not to go overboard with thralls and build size. Single player mode uses your console as the server, the more crap you build and the more thralls you add in one area will put stress on your console.
I believe others as well as myself have already tried deleting save from console and resyncing without success. And understandably, the game will have some form of limits with builds and number of thralls etc till the game starts performing different or outright crashes, the problem is the game was loading fine before the Age of Heroes update.
I play in Performance mode, and i noticed draw distance issues and some framerate drops with my biggest build which was about 8000 pieces, that is understandable and expected even… but the game loaded and it didnt crash on me, but since the Age of Heroes update, clearly something to do with the update has rendered various peoples saved world incompatible/unloadable. Yes it may be the number of thralls, or maybe the build piece figure, but again it worked and loaded nicely before the update not post.
Ideally, a fix would be in the works to rectify this, whether it be a warning message before the whole world loads to indicate too many thralls to load or whatever the cause of the crash may be, if it where the thralls, the option to return various thralls to inventory after the game detecting an incompatibly large number of thralls could be a possible solution before the world loads up?
