Now that they launched Dune Awakening, updates and actual new content such as zones and new mechanics seem non-existent. What’s up? Priority seems to have been heavily shifted towards DUNE, I really hope this game won’t get abandoned because CE is overall the much better experience.
… well, in January they announced that they would focus on fixing bugs every six months. Anything else. Maybe a new recurring event? We have the recurring events “Bounty Hunting” and “The Sacred Hunt,” so maybe they’ll treat us to a third one.
I don’t expect any major changes or new mechanics for now.
You can be happy and satisfied just by getting a game without major bugs, such as in Live Settlements; they were forced to disable it temporarily due to constant complaints from players, as many were still losing thralls. They never figured out how to fix it permanently for all the cases and players who suffered it… or, for example, the new inventory UI, which majority never asked for and which hasn’t worked correctly since they changed it.
It’s really sad and concerning that for much players the main goal became to end up simply being satisfied that the game runs decently at least, however is something totally understandable and more than enough (me included) knowing all the time who is behind the scenes.
You must be new, this has been going on for over a year now. The game is on a 6 month maintenance schedule and; as far as I know, most all it’s devs went to Dune long ago.
Think about this, the player count of Dune is now as low as Conan’s was at the end of it’s first year. Right now dune has all of 10K more players then Conan, a 7 year old game in it’s last last days of development.
A new update/bug fix has been officially announced for the 19th August.
Will this improve the game experience, that is/will be debatable.
Funcom stopped replying to bug reports/help requests on the 9th June so is Funcom abandoning the game . . . . time will tell.
Really unfortunate if we can’t expect new DLCs and something like Island of Siptah for examples, or even just the “Age of X” updates. I really hope they pick it back up once Dune loses it’s novelty.
Perhaps it will be easier to gauge how deep into water tread time it is on the 19th with next update.
There isn’t a test server period, so probably nothing to advertise… but perhaps this one is just cynical.
