Sorcery Is Totally Useless

We kill players all the time. I don’t see why fooling them would be a problem.

The fact remains. Where’s the trade off? You give away your power to be a damn good fighter for what? Cool gimmicks?
Sorcerers should be support characters with a very big sting. You could kill them, but there sould be a hefty penalty at least. Glass canons, a sort of very powerful one time power that would make fighters think twice. They could miss and die or they could hit and kill.

But it’s the glass cannon that is the issue as that requires OP status but easily killed. Well we had that with Lightning storm and everyone cried bloody murder because offlining could be done in minutes.

I get the disappointment, I won’t go as far as to say that Sorcery was completely useless, but I agree that there isn’t much in the way of effective offensive capability, which means you do just end up clashing swords when all is said and done. Only you’re going to be at a disadvantage because of those skill points you sunk into your Sorcery abilities instead.

Does seem like a missed opportunity to me, I mean the potential power of the elder gods and Sorcery in general doesn’t seem to amount to a whole lot in the end. I dunno maybe that’s the point?

I disagree and this is why we are here with sorcery…completely toothless as we all have our vision of glass canons but others find it to be too much.

I will say though sorcery maybe toothless but definitely not useless.

Logistically I can outmaneuver someone even on horseback. I can increase my camouflage. I can farm very quickly (albeit not efficiently). What it does is give me the most precious of resources…time. Unfortunately, in PVP, time is not considered precious and the game style caters to those with no life.

It favored mostly off-line raiding, something I despise.

Building damage on favors this. If it’s on, offlining is a reality meta that cannot be undone. There are too many issues, exploits, and work arounds DBD to make it a viable option. So by the very nature of PVP in this game, offlining is just part of it. You don’t nerf based on that. Not when a God is allowed to wreck in less amount of time and explosives can be stacked to an extent that in mere minutes, your base is cracked open. No, this was more of the solo player can take down any size building of any size clan and the regulars didn’t like that. They wanted their 10 persons with no life dominance and not be in the same condition they put tens to hundreds of other players into…homelessness back at the desert.

The original lightning storm was just wrong. It was the equivalent of giving every clan tactical nukes that could one or two shot large bases (and it would go thru the bases). Honestly I always thought they should have made it more like the demon-fire barrage.

A glass canon sorcery concept would allow you to do some serious damage to an enemy (maybe some sort of life drain) but you would be left highly vulnerable as a result – maybe have your corruption bar completely full and/or unable to move for a period of time.

No. It was absurd the amount of damage you could cause with minimal effort. It had to be nerfed. Usually I hate nerfs. Not in this case. I understand it sucks for your playstyle, but it was absurd.

So a 10 person clan that is dedicated should have an advantage over a solo player. That is the whole reason armies exist… To put a solo player on an equal footing with the 10 player clan makes clans worthless and will just cause frustration. If you feel that yourself and others are being bullied, then team up with all those hundreds of other players and form your own clan/army.

No more absurd than a 10 person crew taking on solos and claiming they had a chance if they only defended.

You’re not supposed to have a chance against a clan. Every time I pick fights with clans, even small ones, I know I’m dead. The question is how many will I take down before I kick the bucket. That’s simply how it goes.

And that’s why PVP is the toxic waste dump it is. I’m not talking about picking fights…I’m talking about just the right for a player to play for just 3 days without an alpha clan dumping on them and sending them back to the desert. Yeah it was OP. GOOD! PVP servers need to be wiped and if FC isn’t going to do it officially, then they should provide the means for all players to do so.

The desert is your true home on pvp. Once you accept that, you become dangerous.
@erjoh it would be ridiculous if a solo could beat a clan. Sonething had to be seriously unbalanced.

yeah yeah yeah…except for the cry babies that have no problem exploiting every single advantage claiming it’s just part of the game except when it can be used to topple their castles…then it’s OP and needs to be nerfed.

Well, it doesn’t make it ok just because cry babies don’t like it. :smile:
