So i have mixed feeling on some of these but overall i think we took a step in an interesting direction and i have quite a few thoughts on all of them. But ill try to keep it short, Ill start in no particular order.
-
Icebridge, perhaps my favorite spell. As a pvp player i love the concept of this spell as it makes my life of breaking into other bases so much easier when i can just ice bridge my way ontop. Fun to use to boot. Great job does exactly what it says on the tin.
-
Featherfall Does what it says on the tin i like it. I don’t often find a lot of use for it unfortunately. used it one time thus far just to see what it would do. Honestly one of the less useful spells in my opinion sadly.
-
Wall of fire. I was severely disappointed with this one. While it did instakill a named thrall at the buccaneer bay location and provide a nice wall to keep them at bay. I was expecting something else entirely. I had expected something similar to a DND wall of fire that would burn enemies that crossed over or stood in it. Instead its basically a short (one wall high.) Wall made of lava that prevents movement and does burn damage. Great for thralls but not so much players who will probably just wait it out or climb over around it/go around it. Really would have loved for this to be a more offensive spell or aggressive damage spell. But it wasn’t Still i can see it being used to block holes in raids or even ward of purge enemies. So Not to terrible.
-
Darkness. I don’t even really understand what this does besides lower visibility. it seems to make some thralls cower and others utterly ignore it. I never got to really test it on a player but i highly doubt it does much and it doesn’t last to terribly long either. Honestly i think this would have been better as a ritual spell that could be permanently maintained in a location like around a base and warded off with light so you could keep raiders from seeing the exact layout of the base or keep archers from plinking at you. It does however do what it says on the tin and severely reduces visibility but honestly i don’t see many uses for this currently.
-
Resource harvesting. Sooo this is a cool spell i really want to like it but the fact that you pay a cloth pouch for it every time you want to use it and it requires 20% corruption makes it not worth while for me personally. This is a raw spell that is very basic you are just smashing everything near you. Personally i feel it should have been free even if it got half the area and should have been in the catagory of the first tier spells. I cannot condone the use of this spell personally due to cost and the fact that it really doesn’t seem to do anything great for you. In some cases it can be helpful i do believe like harvesting silk or shrooms or even crystals but beyond that id say use a pickaxe and call it a day. 100% in my opinion needs a rework.

Lightning storm, does what it says on the tin again. Though it fails to warn you that it will obliterate you as well. The lighting itself does not seem to target people in the area. just seems to strike randomly sometimes doing massive damage to enemies and sometimes just blasting the ground. Also the frequency of the lighting strikes is very few and far inbetween making it feel lack luster for the price you payed to unlock it and to use it. a leather pouch aint cheap. I’d say increase the number of lighting strikes and make them target things in the area. Otherwise it feels mostly thematic. localized thunderstorm on demand and all that.

Hide corruption. It does what it says on the tin… But i am unsure why you would care?
-
Mirror self. Mixed feelings about this. You have to be close enough to cast it. it don’t think it works on players and i am unsure what use it would really have in the long run. I suppose you could potentially pair it with lightning storm and hope it blasts the group? but beyond that it doesn’t aid a lot. Interesting concept but not really sure what to do with it.
-
Invisibility. Hit the nail on the head with this one. Makes you invisible. mind you there is a discolored shimmer at close range so its more like a cloak but still this is great for walking around the world and keeping players from seeing you also it seems to make thralls ignore you. Which makes me wonder since you unlock it and mirror self at the same time… Why have both? when this one is clearly the better of the two?
-
Bat demon. This guy is pretty fun, spacebar to go up C to go down and he glides around. It is my understanding that you must use light armor with him i did not test that aspect. He doesn’t last very long however. Meaning you need to use him on short distances and if you are high in the air and he runs out of time. you are toast. Costs a lot to use though sadly. i’d say probably reduce the cost and call it even.
-
Zombie horde. The spell i wanted to like the most and ended up hating. The mist around this spell makes it great for obscuring vision but the zombies spawned are trash at best just extra bodies to pull attention and get pushed through the grinder. compared to zombies made by the shallow grave ritual these mist zombies are worse than the legacy undead thralls. I do not in any way recommend this spell and i would not waste my resources on it unless it brings it up to par with the zombies made from thralls. It should make zombies based off the thralls in the region meaning it is weak in the exile river area or extremely powerful in the well of skellos as it raises the dead in the region.
-
Wisp. Neat little concept like the green light that it gives off a like that it can be stationary or attached to the character. Good for those of us who want to do sword and board but also have light to see and its low corruption cost. Honestly however i’d have made it a soul essence needed to cast this rather than a burlap sack… It is meant to be a soul after all. Also i’d have made the stationary permanent as a source of spooky lighting!
-
Resource detection. So this would be great on procedurally generated maps. But we have resource maps and most of us know exactly where to find everything. So this really isn’t a great spell. Yeah it could potentially be helpful but most of us don’t need it and won’t use it.
-
Corruption detection. Honestly i didn’t see anything glow with this i looked high and low even at thralls. I have no idea what this things purpose is… Maybe to see player sorcerers for what they are? Not sure don’t recommend.
All in all my review isn’t great for the new spells. But this is the first major swing at sorcery for conan exiles so i wasn’t expecting God tier results. Honestly i’d like to see the majority tweaked and put in a place they can be used or useful. And i’d love to see them expand on sorcery for both the survival bit and combat bit. I’ve seen some Combat magic within the world of Conan so i know it exists but i don’t know it what all compacities it exists. Hopefully we will see more cool things as this stuff progresses. All in all thematically though the magic looks great mechanically was rather underwhelming.
