I was a huge fan for a few weeks after purchasing your game, but with new absolutely inconvenient combat positioning system rotating my character with WASD instead of mouse directional combat I don’t want to play anymore. Say hello and thanks to “genius” who made it and approved.
Face enemy on attack is disabled, even when enabled.
If you start a combo you will keep attacking in a straight line no matter where you are aiming with mouse.
It’s like your attack camera is now a free floating camera and you get to watch your character miss with every attack after the first.
Thats the way to do it funcom, fix it till it’s broke good.
But hey, now it’s real hard to dodge an enemies attack because they can change the direction of attack during the attack, pretty much negating your dodge. So basically they took it away from us and gave it to the NPCs.
From the second part of the video, it seems enemies are quicker to turn, which is good. Now they have roughly 3 IQ.
To the use of WASD to turn: I… I have to try it, but I kinda feel it okay. I mean, I’m not sure yet, don’t know how it serves in practice, but I felt that just by turning the camera (via the mouse) to see your back, and clicking once to acheve an attack AND an insta-turnaround is not a good thing. Sure, I (we) got used to it, it’s been this way from the beginning.
Now we have to re-learn, which is the main problem in my eyes: why changing so fundamental things -as Wak said right- after so many years? Even if it would be better, it does not worth to just mix everything up - again.
Cross platform play has to do with networking, not the game code.
But I have loaded the game in another account in which I never bought coins, so I can play, and it is not all that bad.
If you press forward while moving the mouse during combat, the character will still respond like before. Which is a good thing, but also an indication that indeed it is made so the same exact code can be used for console and PC.
For us modders that was already some headache because you have a lot of confounded input queues because they use a “same venue” for the code for console and PC, nothing that cant be managed.
But it seems we are getting “console aid railing” too now.
Which I hate. Cyberpunk got me to play a lot less because of the whole “auto aligning” aimed to controller users, even if I dont use them and play in a PC. Driving in a PC in that game is squarely grabage because of some such thing. And now it has gotten worse instead of better, as they changed “everyone” just to make it better in console.
Well, probably I am done with fight adventures, and going to build something in the game from time to time only.
Also can’t wait to see the complaints of PvP players. I can’t see what were they thinking about this - first they introduce us to swift and energic possitive fight change in chapter 2, but only for this to be removed in chapter 3, and for it to be exchanged for clumsiness which everyone I came across so far hates.
Yep. New revolutionary combat system is one box check. Joke.
Main feature that now all mobs kinda locking on you and not attacking with all combos only in one direction so you could easily dodge them. Now all their hits chains change direction according to your position. As I tested it now you can forget about dodge roll.
