Wrong child. The game isn’t cross-platform. Console players were screwed by Funcom as well with the update. They knew the bugs before hand but still pushed it live so they could screw around for the next month using the holidays as an excuse.
This change to the combat is terrible. The last one was bad but at least mods eventually made it bearable but this is just clunky crap. Please revert this change.
Andy suggest temporary solution.
Solution:
Settings->Gameplay->Rotatable Stationary Camera->Uncheck
Yes, indeed changing it will return EXACTLY like it was before.
We should be reserving the complaining for things that merit those.
Complaining about everything will get us nowhere.
If you find any useful aspect on the change, to keep the ability to use mouse directionality movement while attacking you can press forward (W default) while attacking so the character will turn to the mouse pointed direction, or just click and keep facing direction.
After a adjustment period, I find myself actually thinking this can work.
The root of the issue is Enable Auto Facing On Attack not working at all. Anyone suggesting disabling Rotatable Stationary Camera doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
I get circle-jerking about pcmr and feeling superior to others is fun, but tank controls in action games aren’t a console thing except for god hand on ps2. Up until this gen, most action games have been console-exclusive.
No it isn’t. It’s like walmart Dr Thunder when you are used to real Dr Pepper.
I think funcom is the only company that fix more fixed problems than broken
, also the fact that they have a ptb but never actually put the changes on it first to see feedback is also a mystery.
Problem is not “feeling superior” or anything.
Console gaming has one set of priorities, PC gaming another, but despite the amazing way in which you can manage them separately in Unreal Engine, for one, but I know other engines do have that feature too, almost all games are now “equating” those, for “some reason”.
Some people like the way console games handle controls, some people like the way PC handles controls, but there is absolutely no need to insert “auto adjusts” or “targeting aids” in console style when you are using Keyboard and mouse to control the game.
But I was commenting at that point based on the video, but I soon realized the video is flawed. You can use a combination of the camera and control style in the settings to make it work the way you want it to work.
Plus I have seen that if you attack with the forward (w by default) key together, you can use the new control schema but it will still turn to the mouse direction.
Like a also said, it is cool to go around complaining about everything, but we have to admit when something is not to complain about. Otherwise it lowers the value of the other complaints we have.
This is literally the worst change Funcom has made to the game in the 2+ years I’ve been playing. Combat was really fun before the patch, and now it is just horrible.
Held my complaints for a very very long time and the powers that be have simply steam rolled along killing the game. Lame work arounds that do not put things exactly like it was before is a sad excuse for where this game is evolving/
Am over it as well.
i get so confused, before i noticed it, i was figthing and sudanelly i was pokining my spear in the wrong direction, it was a pain to hit the enemies then i was crowed and almost died. Turning with wasd meh never saw it before, maybe in very old games, but it is odd. Then i tried target lock and it is completelly mess, it keeps jumping from enemy to enemy againt my will. When they told about hit and rotate that was not what i expect.
I would take the version before these Age of crap updates in a New York second.
Cant really see what all the fuzz still about.
Game did not changed that much on that specific thing. Just a matter of settings.
It is not like they nerfed thralls again or filled our solo games with gimicks because pvpers want to have the game turned into a MMOBA FPS Looter Shooter.
Hilarious! Only FC knows best how to fail!
Thankfully it’s not quite as bad as it is portrayed in this video. There are a few techniques they didn’t mention that can aid combat significantly, like holding down W or S when attacking, which then allows you to attack where your camera is looking, within a 180 degree arc. There are other techniques players are coming up with too - like anything, any new system, it takes time to get use to.
The NPC changes on the whole are good, they just need a little tweaking. In no way should we just be able to run circles around an enemy and have them not be able to hit us, that is just silly. That being said some huge world bosses enemies and the like do swivel a little too fast I think at the moment, but it’s not the end of the world. It certainly makes combat a bit more dangerous and engaging, and that is a good thing really.
We have arguably a ridiculous stamina recharge rate at the moment anyways, so it’s not like we cannot almost always get out of the way of important enemy NPC attacks. But again it’s not something you can just spam, I like that it gives some tactical decision - at least in PvE (no PvP experience) - regarding which attack/s to avoid/dodge when an enemy unleashes a full combo at you. I’ve found that a pleasant surprise so far.
Are the combat changes the best? No, it’s a mixed bag like most things.
But is it the end of the world like many are making out? Not at all.
You know why NPCs still fall through the ground even after all this time? Work around.
As long as people keep coming up with half functional work arounds this issue wont get fixed.
None of the suggested work arounds were any more the a cane for a broken leg; didn’t fix the broken leg, still slow and lame.
The fastest way to stop funcom from fixing a bug is to find a work around.
Really combos went out the window a few years ago. Its all one hit, and roll. Exceptions to katana, and daggers. The pvp has been terrible for the longest. For the people saying that the changes are for consoles. The game plays far better on controller. Always has, and the directional changes was with the flick of a joystick. Giving you options to lure players in, or hit multiple people with one combo. The combat, buffs, and geals need to go back to 2020 i think. it was just more fun then.
