Standing and wall mounted torches turn on after reset

Bug Description:

Standing torches, wall torches turn on after server reset.


Bug Reproduction:

  1. Craft and place standing or wall mounted torch. 2. Turn off torches manually 3. Wait for server rest then log back in torches are all activated.

Similarly, some items that require interaction will reset to their newly placed state. I assume that is what happens with these lighting objects as well as placing them as new, places them down lit/turned on/closed.

Some of these items are things such as the specialized containers (Stygian War Doctor field Kit/bench, flips open. Closed on placing), the Golden Argossean Brazier (treasure, turned off when placed) and no doubt several other items like the Zingaran Mercenary Chest (default closed when placed, can stay open on interaction) and other items of its kind are affected the same way.

It’s not exactly a bug but a feature, it has always been this way (and I wish it was not but some will disagree).

The lights default to “on” state, which is why some mods have tackled it in their own ways, by making new torches with default “off” (Thrall Wars mod) or by adding thralls that can be scheduled to turn them on and off (Better Thralls IIRC?).

I’m not sure it would be accurate to call it a bug or feature, just the way things are.

The switched state is obviously something that is not written to the database, so they are all cleared with a server restart. I don’t know how easy it would be to make it write them to the database or if doing so would come without much worse consequences.

lol why is there no feature for my chests to auto unlock in their og state every reset then? This is literally the same issue, one works as you would expect, the other is idiotic. What if you have a base that is hidden and you only want the torches on when you log in? If this is a feature, why is not changed? Who wants this? Why would you go out of your way to turn off all your torches just to have reset every day turn them back on?

It’s the same with benches.

For hidden bases I never kept anything that gave off light in them even as far as removing benches.

I get your frustrations in this but it has never worked in the way you want. This is one of those low priority, probably will never happen, QOL things.
