Though, I get your sentiment. I work with the system by having 10 animal pens, half gold veined and half silver veined rocknoses. I get my own supply of iron, gold and silver that way.
Doesn’t make leather any less requiring of chests though.
In order to process leather into other things just to reduce it also reduces other materials along with it, which are NOT in short supply. The whole idea is to balance the constituents of one’s capacity.
I’ve actually ceased actively hunting normal animals just because I don’t have space for leather anymore. I already dedicated 10 storage boxes and 2 vaults for it.
In fact, I just hit 360 000 hides in ARK (using tek storage) and had to start a new one just to store all that.
I use to use 15 dinosaurs as storage just to store that before Tek storage.
There generally needs to be an outlet for non perishable animal loot in ANY game that features combat against animals.
The only game that seems to get this right is The Long Dark.
Yeah, demon blood use to be a task. now we just go get what we need for the week in a FoP harveste run.
Maybe have Demon blood for a new item, the bath house. Demon blood added makes a blood pool. Just saying for those RP bretheren (i am PVP) it would be great!!!
insulated wood has the same problem you put wood in dryer end up with 3 dry wood and 1 resin you use the resin and wood to make insulated wood but your left with 2 extra dry wood for every insulated wood and its only good for fire wood i end up destroying thousands of it
Leather could have more uses, really. Haven’t played in a couple months, so bear with me if something I suggest was added in that time.
First, add in a small tent that could be setup and broken down, and used to hide out in during sandstorms. About the size of a 2x2 square building. You could even go so far as to add in several different sizes of these, to use as a sort of tribal encampment. Not a lot of leather used up in the long run, but definitely something that should get added into the game.
At least, if they would set it up to work a tent flap like a door, to walk into the tent and out of it. Of course it’d be garbage against hostile players, being only leather.
Second, you could add in some building types that use leather as an insulation. Something that could take a normally cool building and insulate it for warmth in colder climates.
A placeable of leather “rugs”, given that a number of tribal stuff I’ve read would have leather hides piled up like a carpet or flooring, to make it soft. Or to lie on or use as a blanket.
There sadly isn’t really anything you could do with leather, that would require a somewhat constant or steady supply to burn down your excess. The only other thing I could think of would be to get a new station that could burn leather as a type of fuel.
Actually, a quick Google shows that leather is consumed by a number of insects. This implies that you could have a sort of compost heap for leather to lie there and rot and foster the growth of insects, that could then be used for another practical purpose.
Re: arrows in dismantling bench on officials - they can be dismantled after the last patch. Bug or not I don’t know but the functionality is back again …
(As you probably remember we could dismantle the arrows and then got a patch that stopped them from being dismantled. The most recent patch re-enabled the arrows being dismantled again.)
I guess this is where I nudge @Ignasi to ask if it’s intended that we can dismantle arrows in the dismantling bench again.
I didn’t see anyone say it so I will. COAL!!! If you put coal in a fluid press you get tar. Granted you need a bit. I think it’s 20 coal for one tar but still, it’s another way to get tar.
Someone was talking about the dismantling bench not being good enough. It’s meant to give you something to do with the excess weapons and armor then thralls drop. It’s not something for you to reallocate resources with.
But back to tar. Yes you get an over excess of leather just to make tar. However it’s not the only way. Next time you walk past that coal node, stop and gather it instead.
