Str and agi. no balance

on pvp - pve is needed to reach pvp. and in most of the time u need 1 thrall do close all pve content in game. and nobody will care have you 15% bonus dmg to npc when attack from behind or no, when u cant reach balanced pvp.

i don’t care if pvp is balanced or not. but i do care if pseudo balance, which is all it is, comes at the expense of pve. and all this just to find another pvp meta that is then just as unbalanced as the meta before it.

that something like balanced PvP can ever exist is an urban legend

Even if this perfect PvP world would exist, lagg, high ping, crashes and other things that can affect you outside the game will affect balance.

I just want this game to be somewhat balanced. No oneshot mechanics. No cheap ways to “win” etc.

For example start with the pillar stability that they fixed in 3.0. All flying bases will be gone.

The lifeblood spear nerf was brutal and unjustified. I already wrote back then, there were ways to cancel the healing, despite the old dodge roll and run+heal META.

People were just bad to realize that gas arrows stop the healing effect and force the player into unequipping + equipping, which slows him down.

The only thing they had to change was to prevent the healing buff to stack with normal food healing.

Lifeblood spear had 51 damage with 9% armor pen back then. Not only did they nerf the healing effect, but also the damage. Which was even more overkill. On top, the dropchance was reduced.

Actions like this scared PvE players. Now when they see nerf requests, they freak out and think it has to be done like the lifeblood spear. Believe me, it really does not have to be like this.

To come back to the original topic:

Restricting the perks to the weapon types would be interesting to see. Then it is no more a no brainer to go 15 agility for every PvP build. Running faster with daggers makes sense. Running faster with bow as well. And people will not go 20 agi for poke’n roll.

This would also make Grit more attractive for Strength builds.

i think its ok if all can use move speed but on 5-10 agi. not 15.
main think is about restrict dmg\penetration perks for other types

OMG! Stop. PVP/ PVE crap is just getting old. PVP balance and PVE balance are IDENTICAL! OP gear ruins PVE just as it ruins PVP because the gear makes everything too easy. Weapons and fighting styles should all give the approximate same effects so that PVE balance is maintained and players can pick the styles they enjoy. Which just so happens to fit PVP balance as well. The only difference is that each weapon/style should have a strength/weakness against other styles so that domination isn’t a thing on PVP. However since the same basic effects (IE damage potential) is the same regardless of what weapon style you use, the PVE crowd can still have balance in that sense.

They all can work together if we can just get our heads out of our @$$es and see that both game styles have value and are needed for CE to function properly.

Facts… they will always find a way to manipulate the game and misuse the broken items. It does tend to ruin the feel of PVE in the game. As someone once said and I fully agree. This is a PVE game with PvP mechanics tagged onto the side. This is not rust or COD. this is Conan! It’s in a league of its own :upside_down_face:

Daggers are cheesy as hell. You just get them stun locked and they’re yours for the taking. No skill and minimal effort…

This has been said about every PvP meta tool ever invented. Frankly, it’s getting old.

Chess, when both players have only the king on the board, is pretty well balanced.

Tha yes because it’s true… one day you’ll realise it is you and not everyone else :joy:

No… it because a turn style game. And whoever lands the first blow wins. It’s stale and boring…

I’ve said it before: proving whether a feature really requires no skill is easy.

  1. Find a random granny who has never played Conan Exiles (or other video games) before.
  2. Explain the basic concepts and show them how the controls work.
  3. Give the granny the “meta” equipment which requires “no skill”.
  4. Set the granny to fight against an experienced PvPer using a suboptimal set of equipment.
  5. See if the granny wins.
  6. Repeat X times. See if the granny’s performance improves with repetitions.

If 5 = No and 6 = Yes, then some skill is involved. If 5 = Yes and 6 = No, then no skill is involved. If 5 = No and 6 = No, then perhaps the parameter defining the “meta” equipment is faulty.

You’re confusing skill and experience, they’re two different things. Like you can be an experienced gamer who lack of skills… what you just described is someone without experience or skill…

Skill is something you gain with experience. You’re not born with skill.

I think we’re talking about different concepts here.

But you can have experience in other games that can be applied to Conan. You will pick it up much faster. Where as a granny probably hasn’t even touched a controller before. So it’s not exactly a good comparison.

Yes. Pvp sets the tone. In pvp you need balance more then in pve. Like it or not. If something in pvp is off it affects the whole pvp play. You get forced you use that meta too or you stand no chance. No way to play around the meta. It affects everything you do in pvp. In pve this doesn´t matter. You do not get forced to use the meta. You can still choose to play your way.

Pve player underestimate greatly the effect a meta has on pvp play. Most still believe you have a choice of “ignoring” the meta. But this is not how pvp works. Once a new meta is out in pvp everybody plays it. It doesn´t matter if you want to or not. If 95% of players are using it, you use it too or you just waste your time on pvp, beeing the “victim” of others 100% of your gametime. That is how it has always been in pvp games. Most Pvp players are very competitive, want to be the best in the game. The win is more important then anything else. The “win” is everything. It takes a special kind of person to play pvp. Competitive pvp players have an agressive playstyle. They do not sit in their base and wait until they get attacked. They go and attack. If someone is a very competitive and ambitious person you can not force that person to be less competive or more empathic torwards others just because you want him to be. You can try to talk with passion and with logic but you will fail. They simply can´t help themselfs. They need to win! Its the same with a lot of pve players that are always in need to “help” others or make “friendships” because they constantly want other peoples recognition. Its not about the help or the friendship itself in the end, its about the positiv recognition of others. That’s the opposite behaviour to pvp but ends up with the same thing.

What both do not want is to be seen by people as “loosers”. And no, that is not always a personal trait, aka born with narcissism traits. Its often times learned social “narcissism” behaviours. People are evaluating others by how successful they are in reallive. How good the job is, how much money they make, what expensive cars they drive, where they live or come from, how much influencial friends they have and so on. This validations doesn´t stop just because you play a game. But the difference is that people that play with this kind of toxic narcissistic persons are getting into the spiral pretty fast. And they become what psychologists call “enablers”. Knowingly and unknowingly supporters for the narcissists. Ends in peer pressure. Most pvp games are suffering from peer presure. You are either a winner or a looser. There is rarely anything in between.

Pve players mostly can play as they wish. Pvp players normally can´t. Except they play in a very controlled detoxing area. But this rarely happens.

so we reduce the game to 1 skill set with exactly 1 weapon and one armor set. we remove potions and bandages, as well as food…

I think the comparison with chess doesn’t work very well

none of this makes pvp the basis of pve.

and that’s exactly why pvp is not the basis for pve. it’s just the fun killer for pve

not really. examples where this does not work have already been mentioned above. lifeblood spear, sword of crom, thralls, bombs, drawbridges, …

no, they are simply not interested.

like to see anyone say spear requires no skill and minimal effort considering its the only skill weapon in game.

I’m sorry but with that mentality, why doesn’t everyone skybase then? If you aren’t having fun, then what precisely is the point of playing? WAAC is not fun…sorry it’s just not fun. It’s another job or chore you have to do and when I’m gaming, I actually want to not do stuff that feels like a chore. If you want to play a game that feels like working, fine…but i’m not playing that game with you. Which then comes into the fact that we could be playing on the same server and we have two different games playing. One where everyone is dressed identically and trying to kill each other and blow crap up while editing their videos to make themselves look awesome on social media even though they burn out within 30 days of playing…and the rest of us that shake our collective heads at these folks and treat these guys like advanced AI NPCs…because they come and go so frequently but have the same general mindset that they are interchangeable.

And yet they allow exploits in the gear to dictate their style of play? Yeah sorry you aren’t the best in the game if you constantly meta. And what is a win in a game that never ends? IMHO, those that don’t have the stamina to continue playing are all losers and so yea…you win battles but if you disappear after a month…it was all for naught and you lose.

Where does sportsmanship come into play? If that isn’t a consideration, then you are just trying to justify toxicity.

LOL and yet I don’t recognize this as positive at all. You have very succinctly described exactly what the issue is on current PVP in this game. It’s not about friendship or helping other players, it is about winning against everyone and gaining respect from those that think similarly. Let that sink in. You have taken the entire dark psych trait trinity as the method of play for this game and believe this is what @den and the rest wanted this game to turn into. I can almost 100% assure you that this isn’t the case at all from what I have seen in FC reps here.
