Suggestion, again, dyers bencheS

Making my same suggestion for the dyers benches.

T1 Small can only be used to dye armors.

T2 Medium can be used to dye armor and make base colors.

T3 Large{ the one we have now} can be used to dye armors and make all the available colors.

Or remove it and bring back the old system ? Eventually they must understand that it’s ok to make mistakes, everybody does . But keeping the mistake going on for years is not ok . I want to dye my armor or whatever i wear like the old times .

Sorry, man, but any excuse to use a larger dyer station is a “no” in my book. I don’t care how “realistic” it may be. The dyer’s bench has been a point of contention for a lot of players and just takes up way too much room for it to only dye a single armor at a time. The ability to use dyes from our inventory now is a step in the right direction, but it’s not good enough. Additionally, it’s kinda lame to know that even if they changed it, we on console likely won’t get that change.

Also worth noting that, according to @Barnes (who actually works in the cloth dyeing industry), there is absolutely no weight to the ‘realism’ argument eitther.

(One such comment is here, another here, and another here, but I recall him providing a picture of a ‘real’ dyer’s workbench of some sort, that I can’t find. Also an excellent comment on the nature of ‘realism’ from @LostBrythunian here. Not the image I was thinking of, but a good ‘more realistic’ dyer’s ‘bench’ from @Croms_Faithful here. Obviously, I’m aware that you (jmk1999) don’t need any of this, since you are already opposed to the ‘realism’ argument, but I just wanted to throw together some past comments to quash this ugly waste of time from once again raising its pointless head.)

Yeah, my point is more the fact that the argument of “realism” comes up frequently when people want something in a simulation type game, but if it makes something needlessly cumbersome and annoying, I’m fully willing to forgo “realism” in favor of better gameplay experience. For example, I play Skull & Bones and I sometimes see people asking for slower ships because the game ships move “too fast” and it’s “not realistic.” I’m sorry, but I feel the ships are plenty slow enough at times. I don’t need them to be even slower to make a small minority of players happy.

THIS 100% This new system belongs in the abomination thread, not in the game itself. So many horrid mistakes from the Age of War were rolled back yet THIS utter travesty still remain
WHY?

No, it is a step in the WRONG direction. As I pointed out over and over and over when them made this abominable change. If the size of the bench was the fvcking excuse for the change, then SHRINK THE FVCKING BENCH DOWN!!! This isn’t rocket science! Reduce the size of the bench and leave the old system in place. TADA! :tada: Problem solved! Was it really that bloody hard? NO!

None of this ever needed to be changed and none of these “small” changed are in “the right direction”. They are just attempting to spritz a little perfume on a gigantic Jurassic Park sized pile of dung.

I also say firm NO to any bigger or needlessly complicated stations for basic things such as dyers bench. I just love making small bases everytime, even for my main base. I wish they reverted the changes to dye system and we could just dye from the inventory.

That bench along with tinkers bench, torture bench and saddler’s worktable get decons soon as I finish up with them. So many stations just for a few uses.

I, often, make a point in my streams to rail against the decision to 25th level lock dyeing of armor and clothes. The “realism” claim is stupid, at best and sounds like a toddler making an excuse as why the invisible ghost broke the vase to their parent.

Because, I can unlock a dismantling bench at level 22, I can collect and dismantle Level 60 class armor and weapons, and I can be equipped with end game armor and weapons at level 30, because recipes in the world and DLC/Bazaar do not require associated skills to be unlovked.

But the most important thing for realistic game play is me not being able to dye stuff in my bag?

“How stupid can you be?” was never meant as a challenge, but, here we are.

You do realize using dyes from your inventory is new right? Does it fix the issue with the size? No. Is it a good thing? Yes. I was merely stating that, despite the annoyance of the size AND one item at a time features, at least we don’t have to put dyes into an already full inventory if you leave materials in there like I do. However, I also stated it’s not good enough. We want a smaller bench, and most of all, we want the ability to put all 5 pieces of armor in it at once
or better yet, leave our armor on while we dye like the good ol days.

:woman_facepalming:

You do realize that I am well aware of that. I made it clear that this is still not a step in the right direction because it still does not address the fact that it is not addressing the biggest fundamental issue here.

:index_pointing_up: This right here is the right direction.

As I pointed out, creating an entirely new system because “the bench is too big”, as funcom straight up said was their entire reason, is absolutely idiotic. If the bench was “to big” to justify the “lack of function” then MAKE THE BENCH SMALLER! Which is EXACTLY what people wanted!

But claiming that making a shyte system for a gigantic bench ever so slightly less difficult is a step in the right direction is just false. It is still doing down the wrong path, just with a slightly smoother surface, but it is still the wrong path none the less.

I stopped using dyes after they changed the system. Is this ‘use dyes from inventory’ in the sense of crafting with items from inventory? (So still have to take armour off and put it into the bench.) Or is it actually being able to dye from our inventory again?

If it’s the latter, then that for me would be a step in the right direction. If it’s the former, then I’d say I’m still not interested - still got all the loss of functionality, and unnecessary tying to a bench, and IMO it’s more just an accidental side-effect of the whole draw crafting mats from inventory thing than an actual change to give us back some of what we lost. (Like you, I tend(ed) to keep a bunch of ingredients in the bench, so I’ll agree that’s more convenient, but it still wouldn’t be a meaningful enough change to get me interested in using the dye system again.)

Nah, it’s the former
you still need to put the armor in the bench. Only slightly less annoying as it removes one step and clears crap from the bench inventory. I’ll take it as a slight win, but it could be far better.

I agree, but as I said, I’ll take what I can get and ask for more. That being said, if we on console NEVER get another change again, at least we have one less step with the inventory change. Do I want the old way back? Do I want a smaller bench? Yes and yes. Am I gonna get it? I don’t know
but I’ll take what I can get, then hope and pray.

Dye vials can be used in the field, the old way.

But making dye vials and tattoo inks is at the dyers bench. But that’s almost secondary.

More importantly, gear brought to the dyers bench can be coloured like at the clan banner station, with a pigment picker/slider. Also, resources are only consumed for the vials, not for bringing the gear to the station.

Finally, allow dismantling of dyes down to more basic colours
