I’ve been building on Conan for over 2 years now, I’ve finished hundreds of builds and spent almost 1100 hours on the game, simply just putting building pieces together to make houses, castles, temples etc. However, one thing has always annoyed me:
Orientation
Anyone that’s built basically anything bigger than a 2x2 on Conan will likely agree that having pieces randomly change their orientation is extremely irritating, especially when building on Fence Foundations, where some pieces flip backwards but others will remain facing outwards. The same can also be said for other particularly troublesome pieces, such as awnings, roofs, ceilings, foundations etc.
My suggestion to fix this? An Orientation Lock button. A simple, re-bindable button that locks the orientation of the piece to the selected orientation when the button was hit. I’m only suggesting this for clippable building pieces, however it could also be expanded to work with placeables, though they don’t suffer from the orientation issues that building pieces do.
Below the cursor, maybe add a small, red padlock symbol that will indicate when Orientation Lock is active, so players will know why something might be misbehaving or not working properly. This would be a small yet hugely useful QOL feature for myself, and I’m sure plenty others, whether they be content creators like myself, seasoned veterans, roleplayers, PvP experts, or just people that enjoy the building aspect.
I’d think it’d be fairly easy to implement, from my understanding anyway, and it would save a lot of frustration.
