Suggestion: Turn the Vanir Hearth into a Fireplace

Greetings fellow Exiles.:fire:

I think it is safe to say there will be a paucity of middle ground and strong, galvanized opinions with regard to this idea; you will either strongly like it or strongly dislike it. But first some context.

When working my way through the Age of War: Chapter 3 Battle Pass, I saw a few pieces which I was very excited to unlock. One of which was the final item, the Vanir Hearth received at level 60. When I first saw it I immediately thought “new fireplace…awsome!”. But then this evening when I unlocked it, I must confess I was a little dissapointed to come to the realization that it was actually a stove.

Now do not get me wrong here, it is still a beautifully, well designed item (hats off to the artists). And while both are welcome additions in their own respect, I feel there is a superordinate need for more Fireplaces, juxtaposed to more Cooking Stations. Even when we search definitions of a Hearth, it lends greater creedence more to the argument it should be a Fireplace.

But the argument is not confined to this point alone. As it stands now we already have no fewer than 8 different Cooking Stations, but only 2 types of Fireplaces. And one of those is a DLC. I respect and accept the opinions of members who would like it to remain a Stove. However…

I would like to politely request that Funcom please transform the Vanir Hearth into a Fireplace.

Reserved for a poll. If we feel like it.

I just stuff it with oil and use it like that, @Croms_Faithful . I never cooked in one.
I want a chimney that goes through roofs for this item, with an end that expels smoke, like we have in the rough timber set. We need more chimneys, now that I think of it…
Here’s the latest (finally I’m building an Inn).

I placed little chimneys with their smoking tips inside (first you need to place the structure and only then the chimneys and tips).

That’s how I’ve been doing it.
I wouldn’t mind if it became a fireplace though…

I really like this functionality actually, i bought Turanian stove as well and now i have 3 normal stoves and only one improved .
Other than that, fireplaces are not working as they use to work in this game, they do not produce the same amount of heat they use to. Now shelters are doing most of the job, not fireplaces anymore, you have to be almost in the fireplace to get warmed up and guess what, sit on top of a fire place, like a smoked steak and get warmed up as well.
I remember building huge pvp bases on the frost area and spending many hours to place the fireplaces correctly so all the build had the same temperature.
Each one was working vertically and horizontally. But no matter the job, when you were finishing you felt the satisfaction that you “did it”. I miss this function tbh, yet i couldn’t have a lighten fireplace on hot areas, now i can.
So i guess, we can’t have everything after all.

What if, instead, we could use all fireplaces/hearths as campfires for the purpose of cooking?
No advanced recipes, but anything that can be grilled over an open flame can do so over the flame in a fireplace as well as it can over a pipe of sticks?

Agree. Fancy cooking on fireplaces doesn’t seem adequate. Technically it could be done, but I would prefer if it was left just for stoves.

I was so long hope on a better cooking stove all other workstations was get better looking things and i love it the only bad thing is the small inventory in it

Why limit it to the hearth but all cooking needs to be a heat source? I would also include that all heat sources need fuel of some sort.

Absolutely should. :+1:

All cooking needs fuel anyway, or are you referring to Firebowl Cauldrons and stuff like that?

I hope you’re not talking about torches and candles and all those nice things!
I would rather live in darkness than farm fuel for all light sources.

Definitely :rofl::rofl::rofl:, romantic atmosphere, lol.

Just fireplaces and other aspects that deliver heat (I running a blank if there are any other items that provide heat that aren’t already fuel dependent)

That’s what Radium is for.
Sure it will give you cancer in a few years, but that’s beyound the scope of the game.

I’m gonna say no. It’s a pretty option for a fireplace, but I like the feel of it as a cooking station more.

It is one working station that doesn’t need corners or walls , it’s very beautiful!
