For real . I understand you want to send a meteor storm at me - cool. But the meteors destroy the path for the purge fighters. Then the purge ends. Would this has to be a bug - how is this intended? The has to be some how to prevent this from happening. By the way I killed the sorcerer within about 10 seconds of him spawning…
I haven’t even gotten to meteors and I’m having this problem with exploding golems. Blow up the base, fine! But don’t stop the war.
Maybe it means treasure coffers have to be on the ground. Which makes finding a place with enough flat ground to build, well, anything really, is quite challenging.
When building purge bases, simplicity is king. From some (painful) experiences I had:
Placing the coffer on the ground or at least in the open helps a lot with pathfinding.
Don’t put doors between the possible purge spawn points and the coffer. Doorframes are okay, but leave them open. Your defense should be strong enough to not need doors.
If at all possible, make the path between the possible purge spawn points and the treasure coffer run across natural ground. No bridges! All purge mobs deal damage to buildings, and sooner or later, one will destroy a vital building piece of any bridges. That especially includes the fire orb throwers.
Put some relatively easy to replace building pieces in front of your base. The exploding golems attack the nearest building pieces they see. That means you can distract them with some fences or even just some foundations put in front of your main walls. One may even just let leave them in peace - they are more dangerous if attacked.
Put your thralls on short “leashes”, i. e. short attack and chase distance. Mix spears and maces. Put some starmetal or blood crystals weapons among them, e. g. bloodcrystal spears, to deal with eradication golems.
Archer thralls suck, even with the archer post and good equipment. They can be used sparingly to draw aggro and confuse the enemy, but don’t rely on them for damage.
This is a thing from day one . But purge NPC’s follows a path, they don’t create their own like it used to be on the old purge system.
So either we ask from Devs to leave it as it is and adopt our gameplay this way, either we ask from Devs to release NPC’s from the path obligation and allow them to create their route like old purge was .
The pattern i work has a bit larger routes and I try not to use foundations where the NPC’s walk . It has over 90% success.
I think this current system is better in the sense that its possible to plan for the enemys route and build accordingly. Sure, not all constructions are valid as OT found out.
