because pve and rpers are the most demanding people in this game. look at the many changes that funcom did just to please them, but when it comes pvp players ‘‘hey funcom, maybe nerf horses, they are op?’’, they are met with learn 2 adapt from the pve community that doesnt understand anything about pvp and silence from funcom, and then white knights charge in to defend their company, saying how its so good n great n everythings fantastic. scoop it
The only thing I’ve seen asked for by the PVE/RP community is for changes to bosses, cosmetic items, and the vanity table.
As for the horse issue. I’ve been pretty active in the latest thread and the prominent PVEers in the thread are not telling PVPers to just adapt. They’re pretty much on board seeing horses fixed.
You’re letting an anti-PVE/RP bias to cloud your views on the subject. And you’re not going to get anything accomplished by doing so.
hmmm… there are already a lot of ways to counter horses…
This is the reason why PvP is dying. Now all the Funcom fanboys can flag me.
I don’t disagree that they don’t seem to know how to improve the PvP aspect of the game, though I have no experience with any other Funcom product other than Conan Exiles.
What I find particularly strange is that, as I understand it, Conan Exiles was initially marketed and launched in Early Access as a PvP only game. The PvE mode was added later and in response to PvE players coming into the game and doing things to avoid combat and raids that were problematic enough that Funcom added the PvE mode to accommodate them.
I started playing well after early access ended though and I’m basically just repeating something I think I read in the forums in 2019, so I may be completely wrong here.
You are correct. The problem is the 2 combat servers, PVE-C and PVP, were to easy for PVE type players to over power with 12 hour a day farming that when anything gets competive on those servers, those players are the most vocal. IT is not all PVE and RPers, it is mainly the ones who slithered into the PVE-C and PVP servers that somehow have gained the ear of of Funcom. The PVE base on those servers are unfortunately unaware of the fake PVP type players. PVE players hate wipes, because part of the game they like is the building and knowing they can play when they want. The PVP servers are 90% PVE type players who are the ones against wipe and losing stuff. But it is what it is. Again, it is not the true PVE players I believe the OP is talking about, but the PVE type players who have killed the combat servers with their constant whining on anything that requires conflict on those servers.
At this point, are there really that many left?
You see, that’s why I don’t play PVP - I don’t wish to raid or be raided, it just doesn’t appeal to me - I cannot imagine what these people think they get from playing on PVP servers but not wanting to engage in PVP. Either way, I will continue to support the reasonable voices from the PVP community (such as you and several others in this thread) for as long as I remain engaged with the game. Funcom sold the game as having multiple game modes and I believe it is essential that they continue to support all of them. Sometimes that is going to mean that changes have to be made that negatively impact game modes I play, in order to fix more significant issues in PVP - I will certainly argue to mitigate the damage (eg don’t ‘remove’ mounts, instead lets come up with a way to balance them that works for everyone) - this is why I appreciated the longer discussion thread (PVP in 2020) in which a lot of people have tried to make suggestions of ways that balance could be achieved.
Thanks for noticing - it’s PVPers that are willing to engage in rational debate that maintain my faith in there being a point to engaging with the issues - so long as there is rational argument from both (all) sides, then there is no need for me to take the ‘PVP ruins everything’ approach that the OP seems to want to encounter.
In any case, there are a lot more important things than horseriders to explain the decay of our PVP.
Horses offers another way to fight.
Of course, they give a huge advantage in openground against unprotected guys running on foot. This is not so bad and has to stay as described in “Riders of hyboria”
They have to stay a good option to fight big bosses in openground to.
But there is such passions about this topic, that my feeling is one of the best thing would be to make an option for the server admin.
They love the feeling of getting all the gear of someone else’s dead body, but can’t stand the fact that it goes both ways.
“Always wanna play but you never wanna lose” ![]()
Running is a valid combat maneuver.
I’m more into base vs base rather than direct pvp, and pve and pvec just can’t do.
No.
The reason why pvp is dying or let’s call it “not so popular”…is the simple fact that there are better pvp games out there.
The reason why the game becomes more unpopulär is because Funcom has to compete with much better gaming companies and their NEW releases, which are more stable and do not Enter and exit the Early Access whenever their Developers feel like.
No, it’s not. The reason why PVP is “dying” is largely because of cheaters, and also because Funcom sucks at balancing combat, and because Funcom keeps talking about “PVP” without ever addressing the raiding-related problems.
No, they don’t. No PVE player has ever asked for a nerf. You wanna know why? Because they’re PVE players. A PVP player might suggest a nerf because the combat isn’t balanced. A PVE player will complain about the nerf, because they lost a tool for fighting the NPCs and monsters.
And you need to understand that PVE players are just as dissatisfied as you are with the state of the game. Every time something useful gets nerfed, you’ll hear PVE players saying how “it’s all PVP players’ fault, they keep asking for nerfs”. PVE players usually want more content – dungeons, new building pieces, new placeables – and features that have to do with PVE, such as often requested but never to be implemented decorative thralls.
In the end, you have PVE players blaming PVP players, and PVP players blaming PVE players, and both claims are dumb as hell. The blame lies with Funcom: they’re the ones who sit down and make these decisions. Even when players ask for something, Funcom doesn’t have to do anything, much less do exactly what the players asked for.
So do yourself and everyone else a favor, and stop blaming players for what Funcom does. A lot of us are pissed off enough because Funcom keeps ruining the game, we don’t need your finger-pointing on top of it.
Is it this game that attracts unhinged people or just these forums? Feel free to flag me, but the amount of sheer lunacy that has been creeping into these forums is really weirding me out.
‘You don’t have to be unhinged to comment on these forums, but it helps’
(or at least it seems to convince Funcom to make changes - see Nemedian…)
Sigh, I used to be nice here (and keep most venting for offline) - even I am starting to unleash the snark. At this rate it’ll only be a couple of days before I ‘strike them down now with all of my anger, and my journey to the dark side will be complete’…
Well… instead of nerfing the Act of Violence, Funcom could have just made the critical hit only work on NPCs. It was the best axe.
100% agree.
Keep in mind though that among PvP players there is this way of saying:
If they see a base that is build pretty or non PvP functional, then they gonna say “Look at this base. Those PvE players…”.
And I have often seen, that those players when they get ganked, write in global chat, like how OP and unbalanced XYZ is. They also complain about getting ganked/killed or raided. They also call for help from other players via global chat. And PvP players do not like to see that.
The typical reply from PvP players is something like: “Ez clap, you nobo” or “ez raid”
And I believe the OP is talking about those “PvE” players on PvP servers.
PVP is dying because Funlesscom keeps messing with game play and meanwhile allowing the cheats to run free.
And why all of the whining about horses. They should be tough. Ever fought a cavalryman on foot? not going to be easy…
But there are ways to deal with horses. People seem to forget that YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO FIGHT ON HORSEBACK! You don’t just jump on and start cutting everyone down… I almost never use them in battle. Because they can be countered and I like killing them…
Hehe, I was thinking that too.
But removing greystam was another step to reduce the skill gap. Because greystam meant penalty.
And: You are overencumbered? Well just spam dagger light attack to move forward, because it doesn’t cost much stamina and hit stamina consumption is not tied to encumbrance anymore.
#wtf_funcom
The funny thing is to see that apparently the entire community of conan is on the same side now.
I can hardly see anyone posting saying they agree with the recent changes and the upcomming ones.
And yet Funcom goes there and does EXACTLY the opposite of what everyone thinks or wants. hahaahahahahaha
It’s like: “so you want A? Take B for you suc**rs”.
Nothing is so bad that it can not get worse.
Maybe they’re looking to sink the game soon so they can take a vacation, I don’t know.
As if your always carrying that stuff on you. I’m sure while farming unnamed city your ready to deal with me and my horse.
I can tell your your not. Doesn’t matter how good you think you are I will kill you 100% of the time.
I’m walking around with only a spear and acid arrows and that’s more than enought to deal with your “counters”
