This game is not ready for official release

ESO has issues; Fallout 4 has issues; Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and even going all the way back to Daggerfall, are still in need of bug fixes. Not to mention the abominations that Chronicles, Legends, and Redguard were.

Sorry, mate. But I think Funcom will be just fine.

There is a really compelling, fun and interesting game underneath all of the bugs/glitches/lag/disconnects somewhere. The problem is some of those problems make it so you have no desire to ever find the interesting part of the game.

I haven’t died due to my own stupidity, bravado or simply trying to LEEEEEEEEEEEEEROY JENKINS anything since launch day. Now my deaths are falling down cliffs because the game lags. Or I die because the game freezes and then disconnects. The latest was going into a cave and the game froze, disconnected and I came back in the desert with a message You were killed by crocodile. Good times. What was even more exciting? My body/loot bag was nowhere to be found in said cave. Leaving the area and coming back didn’t fix it.

When you get enough of these deaths due to no fault of your own but due to developer/publisher/server incompetence…it tends to wear on you. What’s even worse is when you die because of server hiccup, sometimes the map won’t show where you died, so you’re trying to guesstimate where the game decided you actually were when trying to find your body. Sometimes there is no body to be found. I know several people who simply have gotten to the point that these deaths and then loss of items have made them to simply decide to quit playing the game.

you being satisfied with an incomplete, broken game does not make it a complete game. It makes you happy and that is all well and good, your lowered expectations do not however, make you correct. It is not a matter of opinion at all as there is overwhelming evidence to support my points, and well your flawed (imo) opinion to support your …well points I guess for lack of a better term. In reality, I don’t even know why you continue this discussion. A 3 minute search will illuminate every thing I have said up to now.

Also, if you had actually read what I wrote in my initial post you would see that most of your points are moot anyway as I do enjoy the game, I just think it still needs a lot of work. I doubt you will read that post nor the majority of this one, since you are only arguing to argue at this point. I won’t be entertaining any more of this.

U must have never had the infinite loading glitch on division that was caused by putting on a backpack that had less slots than u already had. The players themselves figured that one out and told them how to fix it. Still took them over a year to make it where everyone could play again. Hence 1 of the reasons y the player base dropped.

Seriously?! I’m sorry but it is not unrealistic to expect a decently polished game when you pay full price for it. I always avoid early access game exactly because they almost always end up being in forever development and are riddled with bugs and glitches.

This was advertised as a full release. But it really does not feel like it. I played about 20 hours with 2 friends on a private server we made. While we are having fun, here are the issues we experienced.

Game Breaking :

  • Disappearing player corpse. Yep, happened a few times to all of us, lost all armor and all items collected. No corpse to be found. We ended up just removing the death penalty on the server and it does heavily change the feel of the game.

Very annoying :

  • Rubber banding.
  • Animal/NPC corpse not appearing for other players. To optimize weight we all carry different tools, sometimes one of us will kill an animal and ask the other to come and cut it up with a cleaver or skinning knife. But the corpse does not show up for them. We constantly have to pass the tools around.
  • So much wrong about the combat system.
  1. Locking on a target will target your ally 3/4 of the time.
  2. Hit box are all over the place. Especially on short mobs like alligators.
  3. Archery is garbage
  4. Clunky, long and uncontrollable animation.
  5. All these above combat issues makes friendly fire a real pain to deal with. Everyone in melee just does not work. I understand some people might like having to work around that, we kinda found a way to work around it, but there should be an option to turn FF off completely if you want to.
  6. Mobs glitching and generally acting odd.
  7. Terrible AI. Just fight a king elk and you will see. Half the time they are not even attacking in your direction.

Annoying :

  • Visuals. So many visual bugs they would be to long to list. For example, they could not make it so that grass/foliage does not go through your building foundations? How lazy is that.
  • Zero QoL features, none.

Honestly I know it seems like I’m ranting. And don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the game for now. But to say customer have unrealistic expectation to justify all this is rubbish. I’m not sure why you’re trying to defend this obviously rushed release.

Try the Sand Reaper Queen. Exact same behavior.
Bosses that won’t even look in your direction while you kill them, yep, definitely a complete and polished game.
Along with the hundreds of other apparently bonus features being reported on these forums. They’re features people, not missing content or bugs. Geeze.

Worst thing is, we are only level 30. Can’t imagine all the next problems we will run into in the future. I’m excited for the Purge system, but it seems it bugged for most people. I just don’t understand how they can get away with releasing a game in this state.

This is why I usually only play AAA games from big developers.

Yeah they broke this well over a month ago with the Purge Iteration 2 patch. I had a few nice purges per day before that patch hit, now I get none, like a lot of people. It’s just another feature to keep me safe I guess. It’s a finished product after all (according to some players…).

Hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for discussing this in a civil manner
I wanted to quickly chip in with a few things:

We really appreciate any and all feedback and suggestions. It’s incredibly important for us to listen to the community about any and all concerns. We are also constantly trying to improve internally but also in how we communicate to the outside. It’s pretty clear that this is something we need to improve on and we are fully committed to do so. As a start, we are working on having stickie status updates for all platform sub forums to let you know about the most pressing issues and what the status of those are.

In regard to some of the issues mentioned in this thread:

  • The issue with thralls disappearing while being dragged or bound is already fixed on Testlive
  • Purge has already had some fixes but will be looked at in more detail.
  • Fighter thralls randomly stopping their attack has also been fixed on Testlive
  • Dungeons and bosses are under constant balancing and improvement. We are working on additional mechanics and balance for those.
  • no additional weather effects in single player is being looked into
  • Already on test is also the fix that will priorities enemies over your own clan members when you lock onto a target.
  • We are not happy with where archery is at and we have changes in the pipeline.
  • Fixes for issues that haven’t been solved for consoles such as warpaints and the stamina bug will be fixed with the next console game patch. We hope to deploy that next week.

The tech team specifically is constantly working on collision/detection/performance/stability issues for all platforms. That is what most of our hotfixes are for

In regards to the QoL improvements. Please make sure to suggest those in separate topics so we can have more eyes on them. We keep collecting those and have already introduced features requested by the community on live and on test (such as whitelisting, Q-targetting adjustments, afk kick system etc).

With all of this said, we hear and see you and we are really thankful for your ongoing support and patience

@Tascha That’s good news. Just seeing issues get acknowledged like this will make a lot of us happier, I’m sure.

Thanks Tascha, It’s nice to see you guys are reading and working on the issues reported by players. I hope this translates into real improvement for the game. It has so much potential.

I will make sure to post a QoL topic after brainstorming with my friends tomorrow.

Cheers!

I think probably all people saying that bugs are so few just are too young to remember the old time of games and specially MMO’s. For sure each release was a mess the first or second day, but after, every feucking bugs were just smashed. The content was there as promised.

Anyway, people seems to keep illusion about video games today. This is just now business marketing, investors come, give the cash for a product and want the money back after x years. More time needed for the development, they just don’t give a feuck about that.

This is the only reason why video games are so trash, and of course, people are buying, so what do you want more ?

Yeah I certainly remember the release of several MMOs, my first being FFXI.
They had some bugs but the vast majority of the issues were server related.

Out of the several hundred games I’ve played over the past 30 years, I have never encountered one that was even close to as broken as this one was upon official release. (I never played No Man’s Sky but from what I’ve heard, it would be a close contender.)

I’m not sure I understand your question though.

And I think the Assasin Creed Unity/Bugity is more buged. I think the most bugs should be delated in BETA

Bugs and annoyances are one thing but my biggest concern is how FLAT this game is.

There is literally nothing to do in Conan, content lasts for 20 hours of gameplay if you play PVE, maybe some more if you go PvP. My buddies and I dominated and wiped 2 PvP servers in 10 days and basically called it quits.

My biggest gripe with Conan is how much potential it had to be the first survival game with some meat on its bones, some cojones, some substance, instead it falls flat in ā€œjust another survivalā€ category. Let’s look at the new areas we’ve got on release and in the free ā€œDLCā€ The Frozen North to illustrate my point further

  1. Jungle: Amazing theme, Xulan architecture inspired by Thailand/Cambodia looks freaking amazing but the entire area is empty and pointless. Not only its void of resources but monsters are just lazy remodels using same animations as Shellback/Crocodile/Rhinos. Instead of Lemurian camps, we are getting Black Hand which feels like a beta-placeholder since we are not getting a single spawn of Derketo priest or a single Lemurian camp other than those 10 mobs surrounding an Derketo trainer NPC. The boss fight is disappointingly easy and short. On PvP servers Jungle is a perfect hiding spot because NOBODY BOTHERS TO GO THERE. Only allure of the zone might be building your own tree-house, but that’s pretty much it.

  2. Volcano: pretty fun area. Compared with jungle it’s kinda packed with content. Unfortunately, there is no reason to spend time there other than getting gold from obsidian spawns. What we got is 2 pointless weapon tiers: Serpent-Man and Obsidian that nobody uses because they are inferior to what people usually have by the time they can survive volcano heat. Dungeon looks amazing but is ridiculously pointless, you have two options: run towards the boss for 10 minutes ignoring everything on your way or make a lucky jump and get to the boss in 50 seconds. The boss fight itself is boring and easy requiring no other skill than swinging axe heavy attacks around. If you can get your hands on silent legion early (clanmates) I bet this dungeon can be done solo @lvl 40. Zero challenge.

  3. The North: Yeah I know it was released way before the official release but that is the expansion, that in my mind, completely ruined the PvP balance. Introduction of steel to the mob loot tables made Tier 3 buildings ridiculously easy to reach. You don’t even have to prepare/level up before going to New Asagarth if you have few buddies (if you don’t just pull mammoths around and collect the steel). Whoever dominates Asagarth area dominates the server. Since this update, I have not spent a SINGLE steelfire to create a steel-bar making it easier to stockpile ridiculous amounts of bombs pretty fast. When it comes to dungeons, The Temple Of Frost is pointless since the Black Ice weapon tier is useless and Black Temple got its traps removed making the entire dungeon nothing but a 10-minute walk around a damp cellar. Boss: disappointing, can be bugged on the stairs and killed with a bow. Silent Legion is way too powerful and removing hearts from the recipe was another HUGE balance mistakes. Altho there are very specific builds that can go against a silent legion in 1v1, in group scenario clan packed with iron-clad silent legion players will always stomp players in other sets. The sheer amount of armour you can get and versatility of this set (and how ridiculously easy it is to get loads of +stat legendary weapons by farming Rocknose) makes any other set obsolete, not to mention it does not require any perfected paddings etc. Oh, did I mention that Ymir faith is still not fixed after the shard-gain nerf?

For me Conan is a game with no real endgame and no challenge (unless its PvP but even then I rarely find it challenging since people seem not to grasp the concept of PvP on PvP servers and usually don’t fight back, crying on global channel instead) and the only challenging things (like one-shot spike traps in Black Temple) get nerfed quickly because someone got their bloody feelings hurt.

It seems that, at some point of development process, there was an idea to introduce some lore and story (various lore items, NPCs, ghosts, lore-stones) but the idea got dumped half-way-through and all we’ve got is some remains and tidbits of a bigger project that never really worked out. You can see bits of unfinished lore everywhere, from Hyena brothers to portals that lead nowhere in Temple of Frost and Tower of The Bats, it looks like someone took napkin scribbles of someone responsible for the story then threw them in without any coherence.

For me its a game only a roleplayer or a compulsive castle-builder can enjoy (tbh I don’t know why I have seen games in alfa stage with better building mechanics than Conan, for example, Dark and Light) for longer than two weeks, which is really disappointing since I had so much faith in Conan to deliver us a PROPER feature and lore packed survival game. Conan Exiles is a shell, a hollow product lacking any substance, a proof-of-concept of a greater game.

Was it worth the money?
If I had played on PvE server I’d say no. Thankfully I’m a PvP player that managed to abuse game imbalances to terrorize few servers to gather loads of salt from people that don’t grasp the concept of PvP servers so - yes, it was worth the money. However, it is not the game I was hoping for and I won’t be supporting it with any DLC/cosmetic purchases because I don’t believe that FunCom is capable of delivering any significant polished and fun content to that game.

Clearly pressure from the top.

with the unbalanced armor and weapons on this game u can solo any boss

there are plenty of videos showing people doing it. Some bosses are easier than others, but yeah every boss has been solo’d. It’s not an MMO where you have rage timers if you don’t get the kill in a certain amount of time. The mechanics are minimal it’s just a matter of patience.

It needs more that that. Those two things won’t fix their janky servers.

What, you didn’t like grinding cannibals in the Eggy Mountains for 15 levels? Or running Villas over and over because there was no other good content to level? AoC was fun, but it wasn’t great. It could’ve been amazing if Funcom actually finished the game before releasing it. I will say the dungeons in AoC are some of the coolest I’ve seen in an mmo, but they dropped the ball by releasing an unfinished game. CE is unfortunately shaping up to be the same way. Not nearly enough to do once you hit 60, which is a shame because the game could’ve been so much more. It’s brimming with potential, but Funcom wasn’t able to fully flesh the game out before release and now people are already leaving the game. I haven’t played in a couple days because the only thing to do now is grind mats to make explosives to raid bases, but honestly that’s not even worth the effort. Gathering resources is so frigging easy that it’s not even worth it to raid other people. On top of that, you can literally play for hours without ever running into another player because the map is way, way, way too big for only 40 players. The actual PvP with other players is a lot of fun, but again… you can spend a significant amount of time in the game without encountering another player that is actually willing to fight you to the death. If not, well they’ll just run away and there’s absolutely no way to catch and kill them if they don’t want to be killed. There’s zero danger when it comes to gathering for that reason alone. I played Rust for a while years ago and that game was much more exciting for the fact that you could actually be easily killed while out gathering, so you had to be on your toes all the time looking out for potential gankers. Kind of dissappointed with CE. It was so amazing when I first started playing it, but the more you play, the more you realize that there just isn’t enough to do. Oh and the bosses… what the hell Funcom. The Barrow Kings attacks are too high and rarely ever hit you even if your standing still at his feet wailing at him. The king animals are no different than their lesser counterparts other than they have a bazillion HP. That does nothing to increase the excitement of fighting them. They take too long to kill, their mechanics are a snooze fest and the legendary items from the chests aren’t even better than the endgame stuff you can make way easier than spending 20 minutes attacking a boss animal.
