Thrall on a rope cannot be found if you release the rope after teleporting via a map room

If you knock out a thrall, start to drag it on a rope, then teleport via a map room. The thrall cannot be seen and the rope extends off into the distance, however despite that you can still place the knocked out thrall in the wheel of pain.

If however after teleporting whilst dragging a thrall on a rope you have to release the rope for a reason like having to fight a corrupted boss and some other enemies, the thrall you released from the rope can no longer be found. Sometimes if you log off/on it will appear or if you move out of render range and come back it reappears. However for me, most of the time the thrall is gone / lost.

This can be frustrating if it’s a rare thrall who’s spawn point you’ve been farming for days.


Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Spend days farming a thrall spawn point to get the rare named thrall you want.
  2. Drag the thrall on a rope and teleport via map room.
  3. Release the rope in order to survive an attack by a corrupted creature (or other enemies you were not expecting) or for any other reason.
  4. Try to relocate the released / knocked out thrall, try logging off / on, try moving out of render range and coming back. Most of the time the knocked out thrall cannot be found.

Thralls do not follow, but you can still place them in the wheel after a map teleport, so no poblem. Do not release the rope! :slight_smile:

Actually, the bug was that we could drag a thrall through the maproom at all. Initially, we were not supposed to be able to do that, but the bug was in our favor and FC decided to leave it in.

Sometimes I end up climbing onto the maproom instead of taking the stairs. That makes me feel like a real dumbass, but I suppose I deserve it.

Running through the jungle from Dagon’s obby to the Pagoda is sorta fun, but it makes me laugh that a steel chain can stretch from home base back to Sepermeru :man_shrugging:

FWIW, I was able to find the knocked out thrall every time that happened to me, but it’s really, really hard. The thrall is really dragging behind you the way it normally would, but the game doesn’t render it correctly. The problem is that the game doesn’t give you any visual clue about where it’s supposed to be, so I have to search a really large area and knocked out thralls can be surprisingly difficult to spot. :frowning:

Although that’s technically true, it stopped being a bug when FC decided to leave it in, so now this is a bug :wink:

A point of interest, is do they know which lines of code control it? Like what if some seemingly unrelated bug fix later on “fixes” the teleport bug which isn’t a bug?
