I am curious how the game would be if running a dungeon meant a player couldnt use a thrall. Will it add a sort of difficulty to completing said dungeon or just be an annoyance. I feel like players mostly hide behind thralls since a thrall with good stats can solo any dungeon or boss. Making a player go through the dungeon by themselves or with their group members would be an interesting turn. With the amount of health and damage thralls can do from a pvp aspect i think they are over tuned. I dont think thralls should be crutches for players to use instead of improving themselves at the game. I also think beastmaster teimos should have his health per point in vitality lowered and should have a higher xp needed per level.
You are free to make this challenge. Go full strength, gear up and try it. It will surprise you that you can do it too, without a thrall. Why however, should we reject such a nice opportunity to go with a thrall. Other than challenging the game is grinding as well, so if we build a bit encumbrance, we surely need a thrall to help us finish faster.
I wouldn’t suggest the khari dungeon solo, unless you go forward just for the final fight avoiding the most you can, these mini boss skeletons have a way to surprise you, even with thralls I find difficulties on them still.
And the final stage of sunken city is hard to solo too, very hard actually.
Good luck have fun.
Ps, in pvp servers we went occasionally all the clan without thralls in dungeons, it was really good. We laughed a lot
I disagree on the topic of nerfing teimos. I’m of the opinion that other thralls need to be buffed to his level, and players need a buff of their own.
That said, if I couldn’t bring a thrall into a dungeon, then I’d be kinda screwed since I’m in encumbrance build 90% of the time to assist my 2 other clanmates who build kinda scattered about. If I’m running a dungeon, it’s because it’s like bullet point 4 on a list of tasks to accomplish.
Depending on your build and personal ability, its actually easier or I should say faster. Most of the time I just find the thrall to be a distraction and it gets in the way.
I find it best to use a non-combative bearer to carry the loot. The combat thralls just attack far too slowly to make them worth it.
As @stelagel said let’s all do it our own way and not change others preference.
Think of thralls as a way for each player to adjust their game difficulty without imposing it on everyone else on the server.
Conan Exiles is not only a sandbox game, it’s also a game that deliberately caters to a wide variety of playstyles. It’s made to attract players that enjoy a very diverse range of activities. Some like building, some like collecting, some like discovering new things, some like socializing, some like competing against other players, some like PVE combat, etc.
Not everyone is going to care equally for the same aspects of the game as you do. Heck, some of us will have different motivations on different days. There are days when I’m tired of working on a tricky building project and I just want to relax by running through some of my favorite dungeons in a challenging way, see how I fare against bosses on my own, things like that. Other days I’m focused on a project and I just want to run through some sections of the PVE content with minimal fuss.
I would suggest the contrary. For years now I have been frustrated by the fact that so many T4 followers are pretty much useless and there are no good reasons for grabbing them, other than maybe being a collector/completionist or for decorative purposes.
For example, does anyone ever choose Thugra over Dalinsia?
I strongly believe that each T4 follower should have something unique that distinguishes them from the rest and makes them a viable choice. As it is right now, there’s a tiny handful of T4s that everyone wants and the rest are just content that nobody cares for, which I find sad.
Heh. I should’ve known that no matter what combination I chose, there would be someone. I hope that the spirit of my question is still understandable, despite that
Well, if you’re level 60 with the right buffs and perks, good weapons you’re proficient with, there are no dungeons you can’t run naked and without a thrall. I would like to see content added to the game which would render that statement false.
On the other hand, if you’ve just obtained your first set of looted medium armor at level 15-20 or so and are still bound to iron weapons, then being able to complete any difficult dungeon or boss while doable, is quite a challenge - bring your bedroll!
Whether a player considers these things a challenge or just an annoyance, is dependent almost solely on the mindset of the player.
For a person not joining an already mature clan, thralls come into play at just about the right time in the progression of the character. That is, you usually have already completed most of the dungeons by the time you get a thrall you can lean on very much. But even if the person’s playstyle was to level up fast and induct thralls asap - it’s still not a “crutch”. Leveling yourself for the needed support role, capturing a decent thrall, leveling the thrall so that it’s battleworthy, selecting the proper weapons and armor for it and yourself, and controlling it skillfully is still fun and should be considered a legit form of PvE gaming.
To add to that, sometimes getting the thrall in question is a challenge all in itself. I remember a time before there were server transfers and I needed a good combat thrall so badly because of the server hostility that I thought “let’s get a Teimos ASAP”. I ran up to Flotsam with my level 10 butt, plonked down a lesser wheel, and pulled out my truncheon only to be immediately destroyed by every responsible bow-owner in a 5 mile radius. After 6 attempts, I finally got him, and he turned out amazing. 78% str, 90% vitality, and great perks. That sucker had 15K health. I’ll miss you, Stormageddon. He died to a purge that hit me at the same time I was being raided. Rest in Power you beautiful bastard you
Thugra lvl 20 was a really good follower in the volcano too. I remember loosing berserkers from lava death but never a Thugra. Hopefully this “bad” feature is gone now so the only reason for farming one is clearly sentimental. However his great survival will always be really useful against poisonous bosses. One month ago I took a young Berserker with standard gear to the Spider boss and he lost 3/4 of his hp in no time. Thugra is a very reliable thrall, a really good named thrall and he seems to swing ajas bane better than others, he almost never miss.
i have done it with a T3 stygian fighter. I did it to test how the game can literally be played by running to Sep City on pve, build a base around that area and never have to leave that beinstine sep city again. Warmaker dungeon gives black ice and star metal, the only other farmable resources outside of uniqje lotus flowers can all be gotten there
I have yet to obtain a thrall whom I can hide behind. Sure they soak up damage, but the enemies seem to go for me, bosses included, at least 75% of the time. And all the thralls I have are nearly useless for fighting in an efficient way. They take too much time to o attack, circle the enemy while doing nothing, do very little damage, even with legendary weapons. These are all T4 thralls, as well.
Buuut if I give them a truncheon, they can knock out an entire camp on their own, leaving me to kill the unconscious. They even knock out three skull bosses. I do not understand why my thralls are so good with truncheons, knocking out things on one hit, with nary a pause in between if it takes more hits, but they are so bad with weapons.
Agreed. Please don’t nerf the one saving grace thrall in the game
@Boobie
I was maybe the one that hated Teimos the most, I never agreed from the pve side with the existence of this thrall. But in pvp Teimos is the KEY. So I stopped asking for his nerf or others buff long ago. Plus we should not forget that in my pve gaming I have the choise to kill him and not tame him, so he really doesn’t hurt anything else than my ego, and my ego is not a good reason for game changes .
But once again I will share my experience about Teimos saying that in pvp servers that I tamed that guy, only 30% of my Teimos end up good fighters the most common was deadeye, warden, etc… And he doesn’t spawn with star metal or obsidian weapon, so balance exists.
They what now?!
To be fair, some named thralls display with skulls instead of a gold border, likewise, several unthrallable bosses have gold rather than skulls.
As for the main point of the thread.
This one has much better things to do with his time than chip away at the Arena Champion solo.
If the dungeons were one and done, rather than part of a grind loop, perhaps this one would not hate a thrall ban or restriction, but as matters stand, for existing dungeons and player stats, the thrall saves much time and annoyance.
@CodeMage
My thrall knocked out a three skull scorpion by the tower of bats, in only a few hits. My character cannot even do that to the people.
The scorpion’s legs were still moving, like he was trying to walk, but he would not attack, so I just hit him until he died. When I get home tonight I will do it again and post a picture here.
All the scorpion bosses or just a specific one. Please, I want to try it too, thank you.
Just that one, @stelagel I have not attempted with others, as when fighting these bosses I usually have my thrall wield a weapon rather than the truncheon. But I sure am going to try other bosses, see if this is a thing, or a glitch. But that does not explain why my thrall knocks out entire enemy camps in ten seconds, yet if left to their own device with a weapon, it would take forever.
@Alhambra
For me it works completely the other way around. My thrall can slaughter the village almost as fast as I can, but when it comes to knock out I am twice faster than my Berserker. Ofcurce I play 4 perks in strength. Yet I don’t believe it’s related to the knock out a scorpion, this sounds very awesome, I am pretty sure however it is like @drachenfeles said an exploit and needs to be reported. The reason I ask which scorpion is that I can go and try to the same one, by playing on official and if we have the same outcome then to help you on your report by confirming the issue. I will try in some minutes the scorpion under close the bat tower.
