Too many bugs make the most dedicated fan lose heart

Well guys, it’s as the title says.

FUNCOM really needs to improve the game performance on PS5. Really.

Today I had one if the worst sessions ever on Single Player mode.
My base is very modest and I don’t have more than 15 thralls.

The texture rendering delay is UNBEARABLE.

The Sentinels on the savana were invisible.

The elephants were invisible.

Further north, the Rocknose kings were invisible. Nearly died because of it.

Thralls were very unresponsive. I sent them to attack a target and they just stood there, only engaging when I did myself and at times not even then.

Golden lotus was invisible. I could only pick them because I know by heart where they are.

Basically, it was an all around bugshow.

I’ll just put the game down until you start treating PS5 customers properly.

I paid for this game TWICE. I bought ALL the dlcs, all battle passes and lost count of how much I already spent on the bazaar.

You won’t get another dime from me until you fix the game for PS5. This is extremely unfair for us.

I love the game, but hate its current state.

To everyone else, I’ll see you when I see you. Have a great one!

dont know whats worse, invisibility or pink textures everywhere…

I have both, so…
But those were more prevalent in the past, on pets. Wolves especially. It’s been a long time since I tamed one.
Now it’s mostly black and textures flickering in and out as you look in different directions. It really ruins the experience.
I can even tolerate invisible enemies, because I fought them so many times before. But the delay in texture rendering is really awful. I even tried performance mode to see if it helped. If it does, it’s barelly noticeable. I still had problems. I would never play the game like that either.
With all the limitations ps5 might have, it shames some pcs that run the game properly in terms of specs. I believe this is a case of bad porting the game to the PlayStation. However, we don’t get a discount when we buy the game, do we? So it NEEDS to work satisfactorily and that’s up to FUNCOM. It’s not that we are abusing the game features trying to run it beyond the console’s capacity as we can’t do much in terms of graphical settings.
The game used to run fine pre AoS. FUNCOM needs to get its act together. I know this is an old game, but who’s going to risk buying anything else from them in the future when we’re treated like this? We pay full price for a broken game that they simply don’t fix. They might try, but I couldn’t care less about attempts to fix it. I care about results and so far they fall short. We don’t suffer brom “Bethesda like” bugs. We’re in a situation where playing the game becomes a source of stress and frustration due to inadmissible poor performance. Sooner or later, Sony will put an end to this if they keep receiving report after report and that would be a shame.

I’ve been playing on PS5 for a while, PS4 before that. I am not experiencing any of the bugs you speak about here, except the consistent disconnect that is addressed in the new patch.

When I played on the PS4, I had a consistent enemy invisibility problem. But, that was only when I was joined by friends in group play. It made fights in the Spawning pools and bosses in dungeons impossible for me to join. I had to let my thrall show me where the fight was happening.

Now that I think about it, when I got the PS5, I had similar issues. But, and I may have an answer here, I do not use the automatic Sony DNS settings in my connection. Primary 8.8.8.8 Secondary 8.8.4.4. Set that up in your network connection and see if there’s an improvement.

These bugs were on Single Player. I doubt there’s anything to do with that.
I’m not a single case either. There’s plenty of people complaining about these same issues since AoS dropped.
My ps5 was cleaned recenty, so overheating is not the cause. I have plenty of memory space available, the system is updated, database rebuilt, cache cleaned, etc.
Consider yourself lucky, because your ps5 must be special. (how long ago did you buy it?)
Where did you build your base?
Anyway, thanks for the advice, but that’s not a solution.

It is black textures and a slow rendering landscape for me. It works better on my ps5 than the ps4, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.

It’s really sad to see how the PS5 can run next gen games like Horizon Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarok (those I have played) fluently without problems and fails to run this old hag that Conan Exiles is.

Got it in the PS5 lottery that you registered for with your Sony account in January, 2022.

Main Base is on the plateau just west of the Corner of Bones, across from Lester the King Scorpion.

River Base is on the island west of the sentinals, directly south of the croc pond. (Pure vanity build)

Mounds Chateau in the ridge overlooking Wightwatch Camp.

Northern base is on the lake at the Great Dam.

Got a small outpost in the volcano for thralls.

I had them on single as well, but no more.

I do see the black textures (foundations and rhinos) and the slower rendering (doors mostly), but it’s not an extended time, perhaps 5 seconds. Would I like to not see that? Sure. Is it going to stop me? Nope.

Five seconds is TERRIBLE.
@speedice , they know what’s going on.
We just need to keep reminding them we exist.

To render a door? Really? That’s the back breaker?

Doors, clothes, shields, cliffs…
Do you know what puzzles me? It’s not even a consistent thing.
Yesterday I played ( and bought more stuff ) and the textures were rendering better, @speedice . Elephants and sentinels still invisible. But texture rendering was borderline acceptable.
Today, tottal crap again. Single player.
I’m flabbergasted.

Here are the steps we took since I first started playing 5 years ago on the PS4. These were arrived at through the group of players we had at our core.

I had a PS4 slim. The memory and processing were not as good as a pro, so I bought a pro. I switched out the hard drive and activated Boost Mode.

Added an external hard drive as well, and moved Conan to that drive. No issues after.

Several patches and upgrades had me not seeing bosses in dungeons, spawning pools, and vaults. Deactivated Boost made. It was better, in that I could see them fine on my own, but in a group they disappeared. One of the guys suggested moving the game back to the internal hard drive. I did, and the problems went away.

Got the PS5. Some still had PS4s. They all played on perfomance mode, no grass or details. I was having rendering issues in all modes of play (official, single).

I did get myself a 4 Tb storage plug in, because the PS5 standard isn’t up to my standards.

Changed my DNS settings at the suggestion of our IT guy here at work. He said Sony’s DNS is not very good. Used the Google settings, and gameplay is improved dramatically. Except for the up to but not quite 5 second delay on some doors when I first load in, and the disconnect that everyone seems to be experiencing in battle that was specifically mentioned in the latest patch note as being fixed so I just can’t call that a concern anymore until I get disconnected after the patch is released even though they have stated it was fixed and will never happen again until a later patch when some guy says, “Why is this written like this?”, and changes the code, thus annoying an entire group of people who want to go to his house and throw various food items at him for a time. (Breathes in deeply).

I use those DNS settings.
No man, it has nothing to do with that.
My playstation runs fine. It’s not on us.
I’ve literally tried everything. Nothing works.

These are the problems most people in official servers complain about but they blame the players… while I’m not glad your having to deal with the problems it makes me realise more that it is a game problem rather than a server stress problem

It is. The game hasn’t been running properly on ps5 since the AoS dropped.
We ps5 owners can’t exactly upgrade our console, can we? It’s up to FUNCOM to figure this one out.

I feel you

I remember the game running smoothly years ago and I actually did own 4 grids of land claim (before t&c)

Since the last update it runs terrible but I can also see why with all the golems, building sets and placeables they keep adding and people really buy to use.

I would happily look at a less optimised window if it resulted in smoother game play.
But then again you should be able to build however you please on single player without taking the server stress equal too an official or even private server

I run old gen Xbox series and encounter many more problems than those who run Xbox XS

It was running pretty well until the last update and now everything is running poorly ,I am just hoping the next patch will address these issues as console players deserve to have a smooth running game fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

I have a hunch… just a hunch because I am no ps programmer nor would I consider myself an unreal master, that its really an unreal 4.15 issue that is creating a problem at port. In single player, the client is also the server, so it could be the equivalent of a laggy server connection because some weird configuration that is just ps playing poorly with ue 4.15. The good thing is, its probably a pretty simple fix when root cause is uncovered; the bad news is, finding that cause is complicated because the code runs fine on pc so it must be going kaput somewhere in the port… probably really slows down getting a fix because of the way ports are done. I cant remember how long it lasted but I remember back when I played on ps4, we couldnt access the game for a long while because of some issue…
