Trebuchet is no longer viable

Some additional details…

Crafting time now takes 60mins (this did not make it into the final patch notes, but the change did reach live)
Very punishing if you are learning and place the treb in the wrong place. I have mixed feelings on this change. I think it will cause people to “offline” more, looking for that opportunity to build. Maybe a longer craft time but 10mins for each part (20min total) would be good?

These are my thoughts on each point from the patch notes…

The trebuchet can now be set to release its boulders at an angle. An additional lever has been added to the trebuchet that controls this. The maximum degree arc is 80 and the minimum is -20, allowing the trebuchet to shoot down in front and almost straight up. Bombs ahoy!
Useful. But was not needed. Its taking out the need to learn how to place it, making it less of a challenge. The need to make a treb tower will be less but is that a good thing?

The trebuchet is now easier to maintain and build - it no longer costs iron reinforcements to build the actual trebuchet but the cost of other resources have increased.
Not a good trade-off at all. This was not needed.

The hitpoints for the trebuchet and siege foundations have increased significantly.
Making it harder to blow up is not a bad thing, but I dont think this was released. HP is the same. [BUG]

Siege boulders no longer costs twine to craft but instead require more stone.
This is the massive nerf that needs to be fixed. Has made the treb no longer viable in most situations.

The Siege boulder and Demon-fire barrage has had their damage increased
Does not seem to be successfully implemented, Demon fire in my single user test is less damage than a boulder. [BUG]
UPDATE: Barrage actually does much more damage now (good). The test in single user was on a Gate. Its the gate that is the problem. Gates have been exploited in the past because they take less damage, and that seems to be the case again here, which was misleading in my test.

The missiles fired from a trebuchet can now pass through the god-shield without bouncing off.
People are reporting that the treb is not penetrating bubbles. [BUG]

The trebuchet no longer takes damage when it is being fired.
Why make it easier to operate? I’m not in favour of this change, but it’s not the major issue.

The AoE from Siege boulders has been reduced in size.
Not a correct statement. There is now NO AoE. The boulder will damage a single building part only. Even if a boulder hits the seam between two foundations, only one foundation is damaged. This is a very unrealistic and bad change that has been “cheaply” implemented. [BUG?]

Lastly, the stairs leading up the siege platform have been removed.
If that’s what it took to stop trebs from losing stability and falling down every time the game updated, then so be it.
