Trebuchets continue to randomly disappear

Game mode: [Online official]
Type of issue: [Bug]
Server type: [PvE]
Region: [EU]

After every patch, I use build a trebuchet on my base, to see whether the issue has been resolved. I have been doing this for 2 years now. So far, no trebuchet has survived longer than a week. The Trebuchet that I built this time, vanished after less than 10 hours. It was built on a solid platform of foundations.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Build a trebuchet.
  2. Wait for up to 48 hours.
  3. Open the event log to learn that it has collapsed at a random time (not at server restart).

Can be that when you put the trebouchet base, you “lower” it. This can make it detected as “undermesh” and removed at next check.

Try to put it at max high possible … it should not disappear

The vanishing of trebs is an ongoing issue for over a year. It happens due to stability problems.
You can find endless threads about it, @timrath ´s and mine are only some of them:

How intense are your tests with the hight of trebuchts @WaltZie ? Can you tell us some more accurate experiences please? How many trebs did you put and how long did they last for example…

If there is a workaround, a lot of people will be interested, and perhaps it can help the devs tracking the problem down

I built stone platforms for them, and they still go away. I now have empty spots for them. When I hear they are back to stay, might put them up then.

The Vanishing Trebuchet Bug got worst though a few updates ago, my guess around February, when the Elevator Bug also started(bug where vertical elevators always reset up when out of render distance), At the same time also, If you now place a pilar down from a wedge ceiling, onto a square foundation, and the pilar doesn’t sit EXACTLY in the middle, the pilar will get destroyed!

I built a really cool and Huge Ship, and since that update 2/3 of my sails completly broke off. poof… and they were fine before…

Before the latest patch we had a couple of defensive trebuchets on top of several of our buildings (we are on a pvp server) and since the latest patch (followers 2) they keep disappearing and need to be rebuilt every day … we cannot afford to not have them since then our base would be destroyed by enemy trebuchets…

@r4nd0mGamer
Here are my 2 cents…

I’ve got the issue putting a treb on top of spike.
On the 1st time i put it lowering as much as possible. The treb disappear after 1day.
The 2nd time, thinking a random bug, I do the same and getting the same result
On 3rd time i put it rising the base up as much as possible and the treb dose not disappear.

Thanks for the reply @WaltZie , so if I understand correctly your treb remained the third time when it didn´t touch the ground… How long did it last? Is it still there?

It’s still there … I don’t know if it’s just luky or it’s really linked to mesh level …

I tried that, and it didn’t work.

It seems that upon server restart, the builiding underneath fails to transmit stability to the trebuchet, so the trebuchet is left with its inherent 48 hours of decay time. When the owner approaches the trebuchet, it “wakes up” and obtains the base’s decay timer.
I tried placing them high, and I tried placing them so low that the siege foundation is almost buried under the building foundations and only barely sticks out. It makes no difference. The trebuchet still collapses after 2 days.

@timrath hello! See a new entry here:

I wish undermesh detection were as thorough for other things as well. There’s a foundation that I accidentally placed under the surface, which I have been trying to demolish for 2 years now.
