I’ve been playing around with the follower command Stop Following and am really impressed with the utility the devs gave us. As background, the command can be used anywhere (almost) and the follower stays put as long as you are in render range. After a bit, when leaving that undefined range, they warp back to the last guard spot. Comes in handy !
- Taking StumpBroke to the UC
When leveling a thrall in the UC I sometimes feel the need to visit Sepermeru so I bring along a horse. They used to get in the way, but not now. As soon as I warp to the obelisk, I tell my horse to Stop Following and my thrall and I clear the skeletons. Telling StumpBroke to follow again, I take him just outside of the first boss, Guardian of the Flame, and stop him from going in with Stop Following.
The next set of skellies are too easy even with the horse breathing down my neck and I’m still headed west. I tell him to stop following to the right of the Red Mother and kill the two little dragons for the bones, then kill Momma.
Riding the mount to the next small one, I don’t even get off, just let the thrall tank and whack away from the saddle.
The third boss, The Gravewalker, is a short ride and I tell the horse to stop following again since he would just be in the way.
All this time, he was never placed on guard and when following was getting his own XP from our kills.
There is a good argument for killing the skellies from horseback, the XP he gets. Off to Sep and whatever comes next.
- Take my stuff home, Horney (gazelle) !
I have a few farming spots for iron and rock that warrant a small camp. I take a gazelle the first time and place him on guard. That’s now his home. My thrall (last placed on guard at home base) and I kill and farm until the gazelle is full. When that happens, I tell the gazelle to follow, leaving my thrall scouting, and ride or warp back to base. Offloading the gazelle goes quickly and I put stuff I need at the small camp in his inventory, then tell him to Stop Following.
Logging for a few for lunch or warping to an obelisk and back, I now find my thrall at home base and the gazelle is back at camp. No sweat, GI. Everything is now back in its rightful place, including all the mats and loot picked up.
I also use this at the mounds.
There are probably a few of you who have similar tricks up your sleeves. Let us know, please !
