Turan DLC is coming

Thyris, for the record, do you know where Atlantis would have been situated on that map? Or have I just overlooked it?

As far as I can remember the lore, Atlantis sunk in the ocean.

While I was hoping for Vendhyan, Turan is cool in a way.

I have made my base mainly out of Khitan. Generally speaking I cant undo all that work.

Dependant on the armor or perks I will get It. But I’m not sure I can even build in my area anymore. Its already sprawling across G8 spillway like some kind of living plant monster

Yes I know that part my friend. I am wondering whereabouts on the map it used to be before it sunk. Anyone?

When will they release the dlc?

I would imagine Cimmeria.
The Cimmerians were supposed to be the people that would eventually become the Atlanteans.

You have that backwards. Cimmerians are the descendants of Atlanteans.

Who knows. Normally I’d say “they haven’t even formally announced it yet”, but Funcom has a history of announcing and releasing DLC in the same breath. Probably soon-ish though, they definitely know that people dig these kinds of details out of the ini files, so they must be fine with the knowledge being out.

Indeed. In R. E. Howard’s books, Conan was often wearing mail and credited it for surviving situations where others had died.

I’ve often imagined Turanians as Saladin’s army - Arabian-looking dudes wearing mail and a helmet, riding a horse and carrying bow, lance and curved sword.

Shouldt there be some bigger update, as most dlcs come out alongside with them
Yamatai-katanas
Frontier-pets

Yamatai-Katanas are just skins, frontier pets are just skins, every building piece is just skins.
And “skin” includes this time also individual models (3d-Mesh).

The Katana as weapon came in a seperate content patch, not in the Yamatai-DLC.

Arguably we just had a pretty major update in the Unnamed City, and the Relic Hunters - while clearly Set worshippers - thematically complement Turan fairly well.

Atlantis sank beneath the waves at the end of the thurian age during the great cataclysm. It would probably have been located somewhere off the zingaran coast, most likely a bit further west than the Barachan Isles.

The cimmerians of the hyborian age are descendents of atlantean settlers in the same way as picts are descendents from colonists from the pictish isles of the thurian age. Both groups survived the cataclysm and the resulting destruction of their respective homelands.
While the picts managed to retain their stone age culture (but didn’t evolve), the atlantean survivors, having lost a hard fought war against the picts, devolved into ape-men and subsequently evolved into what would be the cimmerian clans.

I think what they were implying was that the Yamatai DLC’s release coincided with the update that added katanas, just as the Frontier DLC’s released coincided with the addition of the pet system.

Well I wasnt talking about mods per-say; I was using them as a comparison to how DLC can be introduced to 2 different platforms with in 2 different versions of detail. Not sure what you are getting on about with " a company will never harm their costumers" What do you mean by “harm” ? No one implied funcom walking around with Lucille. If by harm you mean treating different platforms differently then yes, most developers do ie: EA games, Bethesda, Activision, yad yada yada. Or maybe you mean not giving a hoot about the costumer? Might I reference the same developers above
The list doesnt end there obviously but those are the ones that come to mind. It hurts on one to offer a more detailed version of a DLC and the developer could even charge a few bucks more for the more enriched DLC and I don’t think a single PC user would complain if they knew they were getting more. And for clarification I personally dont see anything wrong with the current dlc choices I was just pointing out the simplicity iin having options based on the platform. If Funcom chooses to limit their players its their choice

That was great (and very informative!), thanks Kendaric.

You do realise that CE got its financial ground by first phase EA which was steam sales for PC (!) alone? They then promised console versions.

I am not making this up, ALL essentially new game mechanics have been added before the frozen north and Xbox release. (Trebuchet, orb, climbing
)
There has been nothing added, except for reskinned items and more of the same crafting bench mechanics.

The combat system was the only thing that was developed further regarding the core game mechanics and that was necessary for controllerbased gameplay.

I know there is such a big player base out there for consoles, but for real, this shot ate up the games potential.

You forgot pets and the new religion, also the newly added Unammed City revamp with bosses and treasures, there was a bunch of free updates since launch.

You talk about the combat revamp as it was a minor change - it was a substantial, game-changing improvement which seperates it from its competitors. And also - this was not done to satisfy controller based gameplay - proof of that or it came from your ■■■■.
