Unbelievable loading times part 3

Meh, $400 every 8-10 years isn’t that bad for hardware.

Before I switched over to PC, I played consoles, from about 1985 to about 1996, I can say that PC gaming even from 1996-present has been a cheaper option adding up the expenditures overtime. Those Steam deals and access to indie titles adds up when you don’t have to pay $50-60 per game.

Another fun fact. It cost nearly double the cost to upgrade the storage on my NES to that 2GB mentioned before as it would for the OP to upgrade their PS4 to SSD.

Upgrading a PC is generally a touch easier.
Also, it doesn’t always come with the horrifying voided warranty or possibility of having your account frozen or axed.
Post market mods are (or at least were) heavily frowned upon by the manufacturers.

Upgrading a console for many people means purchasing an entirely new console rather than working with modular parts.

This one does not speak for everyone, but upgrading a PC is sorta fun. It’s Legos but with electronics and a touch of Tetris besides.
Modding a console, less so.
Not that this one would do anything so scandalous and verboten…

To my knowledge, the storage on the PS4 is one of the few things you can modify without voiding a warranty. Sony even provides support for such an upgrade (good on them, this sort of thing is usually rare in consoles).

For all the issues the OP has, upgrading to a SSD will fix them. Its literally cheaper to do than replacing a controller these days.

People modding NES’s to utilize the missing MMC5 audio chip are amazing. As those that give it HDMI outputs. I haven’t been able to do this myself. I’m not that brave.

Ouch. That’s an understatement. But that’s GWS for you. Have you thought about the exodus yet?

My thoughts are only with my Pile of Progress and patch 2.9 - Age of Feasts (lasting Feast and Cimmerian Feasts function once more. c’mon FC! DEWIT!) lol
