Unique Pet Perks Ideas (More than just stat boosts)

I wrote up some potential perk ideas for pets that’re more than just stat boosts, hopefully to make pets seem more special since they can’t really be outfitted with anything. The idea when making these was, generally, that only one of these could be rolled per pet so there wouldn’t pets doing anything too crazy.
Not sure of how long of a list I’m allowed to make on here but I scrounged up a couple that could be nice:

Support Perks:

Armored Escort:

  • Inherit 15-20% of your pet’s armor while they’re following you.
Pets | Shalebacks, Rocknoses, Scorpions, Frost Giant Bodyguard(?)
note - frost giants are really only here because of their bodyguard tag

Mellow Presence:

  • While your pet is following you, you gain the soothing buff (only if not in extreme temperatures).
    Pets | All

Warcry:

  • Your pet performs a shout, encouraging all nearby allies (including themselves) and increasing their strength by +5 for 15 seconds. This uses the usual shout / roar animations of pets and takes up a potential attack chance.
Pets | Frost Giant Bodyguard, Crocodiles, Bears, Gorillas, Greater Rocknoses, Shalebacks, Grey Ape / Yetis (?)
note - can’t remember if yetis or apes have shout animations already

Combat Perks (Offense):

Piercing Pinchers:

  • Your pet’s melee attack have 25% armor penetration.
    Pets | Sand Reapers, Scorpions

Crushing Blows:

  • Your pet’s melee attacks shatter the enemy’s armor, inflicting a stack of sunder each hit on top of what it would normally inflict.
Pets | Bears, Elephants, Yetis, Grey Ape, Rocknoses, Rhinos, Shalebacks, Frost Giant Bodyguard, Scorpions

Enhanced Potency:

  • Your pet’s poisons are doubly as potent, dealing twice the damage of normal poison.
Pets | Scorpions, Sand Reapers(?), Spiders
note - could be extremely strong on sand reapers

Combat Perks (Defense):

Sturdy Frame:

  • Your pet no longer gets staggered by hits.
Pets | All (outside of pets that already don’t get staggered)

Hardy Lungs:

  • Your pet is immune to airborne poisons.
Pets | All (outside of undead)

Immovable Object:

  • Your pet gains an innate 15% damage mitigation, this cannot be bypassed by armor penetration.
Pets | Frost Giant Bodyguard, Shalebacks, Bears, Elephants, Rhinos, Yetis, Gorillas, Grey Ape, Rocknoses

Pet Specific Perks:

Mountain Top:

  • Your Rockslide’s spinning attack will deal 30% more damage per hit in addition to crippling on each hit, but will prefer to use it’s spin more often over other attacks.
    Pets | Greater Rocknose

Sting like a Bee:

  • Your Greater / Queen Scorpion’s sting attack will have no preparation time and be near instantaneous, in addition to knocking down enemies, but will deal 25% less damage.
Pets | Greater / Queen Scorpion

Ancestral Training:

  • Your Greater crocodile can now perform a tail spin attack after a short windup, knocking back and damaging enemies near it.
    Pets | Greater crocodiles

If anyone else has some ideas throw em’ out there, I’d really like to see pets gain some sort of function to make them stand out more. Also I’m no good with balance numbers, so pardon if anything is too ridiculous.

I like these a lot. No idea how they would affect PVP balance – if at all – but they certainly make perks (and pets) interesting and fun. I wish all followers – pets and thralls and mounts – had interesting perks like that.

Thank ya, I did try to keep pvp in mind with most of these, but I’m not huge on the pvp scene to be fair. Would really love it if funcom did add some unique perks eventually, even if very minor, the only stat boosts part of the leveling system was a little unfortunate from the get-go.
I do think at some point they said they’d attempt more meaningful perks? can’t remember

I would like for the unique or hard to get pets to not suck.

Frost giants, yetis, rare gorillas and rare undead should be good as pets are already sub-par to thralls.

Your ideas are solid.

Thanks, and yeah I was pretty disappointed when I got my scorpions and yetis, for how big they are you’d think they’d do more than a kick’s worth of damage lol.

I love these ideas and they could always give a server setting to enable/disable unique pet buffs for pvp/pve purposes!

I’m also in favor of this. PVP seems to be the reason for so much content nerfing. I keep suggesting that PVP servers have different settings if its supposed to be about killing other players. Change or disable the problem content on the PVP servers only.
