Unlink Funcom from Steam or change Funcom ID?

I made the dumb mistake of using my real name in my steam account which became my funcom ID, not realizing others can see it and I would like to fix it. I am not against getting a whole new funcom account if needed but is there a way to unlink it from Steam so I can try again? Updating my steam name did not update the funcom ID. I tried going through steam to unlink but they deferred to Funcom. I was going to try uninstalling it and seeing if that helped next but wanted to put this out there incase there is a better way. (Update: Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help)

Any help would be appreciated! I should have known better but didn’t play online games through steam before so never had to worry about it.

I share this with you. I only started playing online so that I could check things for Testlive. I’ve been trying to show the significance of the ID since it was implemented. I’ll upload a screencap to contribute.

Do you have to register somewhere or explicitly enable this Funcom ID feature and link it to your steam? I played Conan Exiles like a year ago just fine and now cannot login anymore. Can’t even play single player actually, because Connecting to Funcom Live services never succeeds.

On a side note, can the game be played without steam now? Or is that the plan for the future with the new ID system? I have steam installed just for this one game and I’d rather let it go completely if I can help it.

That is its own bug, unfortunately. Paging @bigguy80

My understanding is that is the future plan. There have been threads in the past about an independent launcher, but I think that’s still in the development phase.

You can change your Steam profile name. open steam, in the upper right corner of the window click on your name, select view my profile, then select edit profile from that screen, and change your name in the general tab.

I tried that and it does not affect the funcom ID

Weird, because my steam profile name is not the same as my account name, yet my funcom ID reference my Steam profile name, no the second.

Maybe you should send them an e-mail about it, submit a ticket may take a while to take a response from them though

If you get the error “Can not connect to Funcom Live Services” Than the only way to connect to any game is to turn off Battleye and join a private server or try co-op. Not sure if co-op works as well but I have not been able to connect to funcom live services since June. The only way I can play is to turn off battleye and go to a private server that is not running battleye.

This does not seem to work for me at all.

It does not matter if I start the game with battleye or without. Every time I click either “Play Online” or “Singleplayer/Co-Op”, I get a popup saying ‘Connecting to Funcom Live Services’ and then after like a minute or so ‘Please restart or try again later’.

I simply cannot get past main menu ever. Pretty much only thing I can do in-game is changing the settings.

Is there any workaround you’ve used to allow you to play on private servers?

That was what I do. If I start with battleye, the same thing happens to me. If I turn it off, I can get to the server list but I can’t join any of the officials cause battleye is turned off. But, with it off I can join servers that do not have battleye. All the other fixes here in the forums did not work for me at all.

They tried to tell me to make sure tls 1.1 was on in internet options under the advanced tab as well as what was already there and that did not work. I uninstalled the game by removing the conan folder from steam and re-installing it, that did not work. I reinstalled battleye, upgraded my computer and still nothing.

The only thing that let’s me play is turning off battleye, but again not on official servers.

Your mum named you shady? Are you a rapper?

Me thinks you might contact steam. If they can change it, then FUncoms might change or you get locked out.
