Unreal Engine 5 - Um

Um… so according to the announcement trailer Conan Exiles is moving to Unreal Engine 5?

Has anyone had a chance to test how well this runs? In my experience all of the UE5 games I’ve tried run terrible.

I’m guessing new game, new system requirements?

And probably no option to stay on Unreal Engine 4 I am sure?

We shall see on the 4th of May, it’s 1 week away.

Details answering your questions are in the blog post.

They probably just copied their crap code over to UE5.

I do not expect any improvements in server performance since Dune was trash too. Just shiny new graphics with old ■■■■■■ bugs and glitches.

Just because you don’t have the hardware to run it at ultra, doesn’t mean other people won’t enjoy it.

Dude I have an RTX Pro 6000. What are you talking about?

Still got my brick, intend to update the day it drops and pray to Set for a fresh server or 6.

i7 4.0, gtx 1060 8gig, 32gig ram, antique HDD.

Upgrade? xD

You can buy a whole new PC.

And a 1060 has either 3GB or 6GB.

6gig. But I can play pretty well any game at 60fps or better depending on how pretty I want it.

And no, take my word for it , I can’t buy a new PC, I can’t even afford to upgrade to a better older card like a 3060.

I was watching GPU prices drop then the AI bubble start to balloon.

But, my antique PC plays UE5 just fine.

Well I only have a 5090, but for me the game runs very well on Ultra

looked at the hardware specs, looks like you are mainly going to play legacy

Prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

Fact.

I was talking about server performance.

you should have said so:) perhaps i missed it. It was more about Deacon always complaining while playing on a potato

Only for steam thougn

You know I really missed you.

If I was playing on a blazing fast PC from the future, I’d still gripe about mega builds and hoarders. That was something you never quite understood, it was never about my performance.

oh, but i did understand, i just disagree. That is what you apparently misunderstood

It was in my first post here.

I do not expect a jump in performance server side, because bad code stays bad if you do not fix it.

We will see.

Not my area of expertise, so I’m not trying to state anything as fact here - but wouldn’t the reduction in total size of the game from like 100GB down to 40GB imply some sort of improvement/streamlining of the code? Maybe a bit of de-spaghettification?
