Disable Startup movies entirely.

[/Script/MoviePlayer.MoviePlayerSettings]
bWaitForMoviesToComplete=True
bMoviesAreSkippable=True
-StartupMovies=
-StartupMovies=StartupUE4
-StartupMovies=StartupNvidia
-StartupMovies=CinematicIntroV2

This line turns out to be simpler. Change the True to False and you see a snippet of the first movie, then the loading screen, depending on your loading time.

Black screens scare me :aaaaaa:

Another option, if you don’t suffer from blackscreenaphobia like @Jim1, and don’t want to edit files (which works fine), just delete/move the ‘Cinematic…’ mp4 files from …\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Movies They will be restored if you Check the Game Integrity, but can be removed.

They are meant to be filler content whilst the game is loading in the background. If you are brave, and have the patience of Crom, remove the files and go get a cuppa.

It may be more or less inconsistent when it works, when not. However, this can be worked around for the most part. This is client behavior and is unlikely to see a fix as “bug”.

If you’ve added mods recently, it will extend the loading time of the game. The reason the intro cannot be skipped is the game is loading. Look to the lower left, you’ll see three animated dots. When these disappear, the intro can be skipped as that indicates the game is done loading.

The fix is to switch the game from a harddrive to a solid state drive.

I’ve done this recently, and with 21 mods, I used to have to watch the whole video, now I can skip just as Ramza’s feet appear. Its a stark contrast.

In steam there is no Go to: \Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Config\

Its all in steam somewhere.

Just put XXXdrive/steam/steamapps/common before that path.

Sorrie guys, i tried all, not working , someehow more looks like @Taemien answer is right… maybe. only problem i dont have SSD , i have but i had then money only for 128 GB that is only OS on it xD… But what is against his answer, it started after last patch, i did not use any mods…

I was having issues that sound similar to what you experienced. I ended up running chkdsk to solve my issue. It turned out that I had 7 user data files (only one was a CE file) that had bad data clusters. Since running the chkdsk and re-installing CE it is running great and I can skip the video almost immediately as I do not have any mods installed. I hope you get your issue resolved.

Nope, i dont really want to redownload whole game again, but its like with each game update i am forced to do so otherwise those known bugs start, and now i am forced to watch whole film, just like tamien said, left corner has 3 dots , and they even loading 2 min after video with just black screen, and to be honest now its wtf, each day i open conan for first time, i have plus 1 minute for loading ( without mods ) tryed today with calamitous, installed sooner… wtf ?

Shhh… just let it happen.

I couldn’t tell you why it loaded faster once you put AoC. My guess is that there’s a weird sector on your HDD, it might not even be bad. It could just be weird, or likely a fragment in a weird spot. A reinstall would likely solve the issue. But if you really want to fix it, you’ll need to put it on a SSD. Thankfully its one of those things that isn’t terribly expensive and easy to install.

Once you have the disk installed, you can use steam to move the install folder of each game you want on the SSD. Just remember to edit or delete and recreate your modlist.txt file as it won’t automatically update to the new location of the mods (they move with the game).

If you ever want to boost performance of CE, the SSD is a surefire way to do it. It loads faster like… a ton faster. And the game will run better over all, especially when using the maproom or traveling to dungeons.

One bug I think it might even fix is the floating over foundations one. Which is loading related. Since I’ve been on the SSD, I’ve not seen this one. But treat this as anecdotal.

@Hugo might forward this to the developers regardless.

stupid question maybe, but where do saves workshop mods? Somehow in mod list (ingame) i see like 30 mods but in game folder where modlist is, there isnone but in txt, 4… wtf? cant find those mods, probably thats the problem, somewhere saved files , game try to find where…

Edit : i basically not even use mods, maybe when i buyed game, i just wnt to workshot to check out but never used any -.- why game finds somehow 30 mods now …

I believe this is problem, why it takes so stupid long time… like WTF every other game save mods where is actual exe file, but conan mods are saved in whole different directory… and because there is only numbers i cant even figure out with is conan mods… Conan dir is like 20 folders away from where mods are saved… so this is problem… i guess…

Adress where modlist
D:\steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Mods

Adress where actual mods are
D:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\440900\880454836/Pippi.pak

no wonder for 30 weird mods who game finds out it takes forever, because they are too far from game -.-

or maybe i mistaken something?

Hi @NeoTheMatrix, this is expected behavior due to the number of mods being loaded while the game is installed on a slower drive.

Changing their location as suggested in the last post would not influence this since it’s just a visual representation provided by your OS and does not reflect where and how your files are stored in the disk, the main issue stems from the drive’s speed.

One thing that could potentially help when dealing with HDDs is to ensure they are defragmented on a regular basis to improve reading times.
