Untold Stories of The Secret World

Ok, got em now, thanks…

I finally had some time to check this mod out for myself - it’s very awesome! Love the potential!! I’ve got PLANS. >:) And more proper feedback coming soon once I’ve had more time to smash my face into Untold Stories!

That said, it seems that a lot of the browser content may need to be checked over. The in-game browser is at a point where some websites can’t be displayed on it. Even the official Funcom websites - including this forum and the old forums! - aren’t displaying at the moment I’ve made this post. I encountered a large number of player-submitted legends that weren’t displaying, as well as some missions that were failing to display browser content.

The browser itself still works (many SWL-related sources a player may normally utilize when playing SWL work perfectly fine, aside from Funcom ones) but it seems that this might be a compatibility issue, so unless Funcom updates the in-game browser or otherwise solves the issue before anyone else notices, it might be worth checking over the current links used in Untold Stories!!

Not sure, but I thought the in game browser can’t handle anything https, only http.

It can handle a number of websites using https! It does seem that all of the broken ones so far are https, though!

I just wanted to let people know since Untold Stories seems to use the browser for a lot of neat stuff and some player-submitted content isn’t currently visible through it!

Ha! @Vomher, glad you finally caught the Untold Stories bug. This is what I was trying to get you to check out back in TSW!

Thanks for the report. It seems Google is moving on. Some lore is on Google Docs. The page loads, but there is a message that the in-game browser version is no longer supported. There is a similar message on YouTube. It will actually play a video if you pick one in the playlist or sidebar, but it won’t play the one that you tried to load directly. I’ll have to take all those links down.

Of course, broken links can always be a problem too. If you run across any of those, especially within a mission, please let me know so I can fix or remove them.

Hi @SuperJenius, I got a report on one of my playthrough videos that a user was having issues and was looking to contact you. I pointed them here to this thread and hope they’ll reach out, but an early heads up to you. You can see their comment here: Where Fools Fear to Tread Part 1 (Dragon Ending) - YouTube

While I’m not SuperJenius, I do know a reason for much of the addon’s player-submitted content suddenly breaking:

Is your mission content on a website(s) that supports TLS 1.0/1.1 if HTTPS? The Awesomium browser in TSW and SWL cannot do any more recent security protocols. Most browsers deprecated 1.0/1.1, and various website hosts followed. Unsecured HTTP remains the same - it works in the in-game browser.

It would be a good idea to review that! If you want the missions to continue working, you may have to consider rewriting the links in your Untold Stories missions and getting the content up elsewhere. I’m so sorry!!

Thanks @Vomher. I’ll have a look at that.

Hi Blodwedd,

I have not done anything with the mod in a while, but according to Vomher, it sounds like the in-game browser no longer supports https links. I looked at your first mission, and I do see some https links to Wikipedia. As Vomher suggested, you could move that content to a server that uses http links and update your mission files to point to the new location. If you send me updated mission files, I will post them.

@SuperJenius Thanks! When I get some downtime on the current book, I’ll see what I can do.
