Upcoming merges

As a regular PvP player I am automatically against easy transfers into our world, and my great Captain and I have fought off all comers.

Under these circumstances with the apparently competent (strategic and powerful) incoming players it’s a real shame there isn’t more flexibility to the system.

Again, this is against my self interest.

Pardon, ETA: I think @biggcane55 suggested the solution: PvP Off.

I understand on PVP, but you do not have to have the same rules fore PVP transfers as you do for PVE. Wak just put out a video on the merge and mentioned that if you are a PVP player you are going to need to be concerned about people camping the spawn points especially since incoming players will probably be spec’d as an encumbrance build. I understand Funcom is trying to figure out a way to deal with this though.

Absolutely, and honestly the more they know, the better. Good for @Wak4863 for covering it!

No, no they arent. It is literally a switch on the settings. They blind eye is what they want. No pvp officials, we scum should play only on privates or just leave game is thier endgame. We screw with thier balance (lack of?) way to much on weapons.

Don’t be like that. We’re all handsome, strong people who play chesty games. They want us playing.

Am I the only one that remembers starting off…running like a mouse from cover to cover making sure not to draw notice? Picking the right time to log in to minimize attacks?

I’m still unclear on what will happen to my game upon the merge. I will go from 3506 to 3500. Builds I’m not overly concerned with. But what will happen to my thralls? Materials? I’m 3 plus years in and like with all long time players have a ton of stuff. Will this all be lost? Please explain clearly. What am I facing here, how should I prepare?

Let me see if I got this right:

  1. My character from a PVP server will be transferred to a server of Funcom’s choosing.
  2. My character is limited to 200 slots of inventory.
  3. My character will be Encumbered.
  4. My character will be placed within an active established server.
  5. The date of said transfer is public knowledge.
  6. My character’s spawn location to the new server is also public knowledge.

Yeah, that sounds totally equitable and fair, NOT.

The more secure building locations will probably already be claimed. My character will be over encumbered AND as such will be using an Encumbrance build - a completely crippling build should I have to engage in immediate PvP. Should my character die, then my character loses everything. Everything. Should the established players of that server die, they simply lose only the items they are carrying. Yeah, that sounds even more equitable and fair.

3+ years on a server, many items that can’t be picked up and brought, items that can’t be replaced, gone. Just gone.

If my character dies, loses everything, he/she can ONLY spawn again at the noob spawn points…again, subject to being farmed…without anything to perhaps get everything back. Yep, that’s more of Funcom’s “Equitable & Fair” policy in action.

This will be a total sh*tstorm when it hits social media. Who’s the genius behind this lunacy? If Funcom thinks the playerbase is low now, just wait. Pop some popcorn, sit back and watch the slow train wreck.

I’m on PVE. Just losing all of that material will make me leave the game. But PVP server and that’s the outcome. Yeah……what are you thinking funcom. Are you trying to have people stop playing?

All the thralls you have set down will be gone.
Any thralls you have in chests or benches can be saved.

The basic rule makes it pretty simple to understand and should inform any preparation:

You can bring anything and everything you can fit in your character inventory (213 slots total).

I dunno how others are preparing but for me:

  • I’m bringing twenty T4 fighter/archer thralls and elite armor and weapons for them - that’s 140 slots.
  • A mount and saddle - 2 more slots.
  • I’ve spent a lot of my extra materials creating high end benches, armor, and weapons, so the ones I have can continue working till the day I transfer. That’s another 30 or so slots when you consider the named workers that go with.
  • And I’m bringing as much of the grindy materials as I can fit after dissembling the base. Grindy for me means scraps and eldarium almost exclusively. The base needs about 15 or 20 slots so that gives me 20 slots or so for those thing things.
  • I have a potion is the fridge so I can respec my character on the day I go and will be respecing to an encumbrance build.

With that I should be able to set up anew base within an hour after arrival - including thralls for base defense and a working factory.

If you’re PVE or PVP some of the “grindy” materials change but it’s about the same thing. For PVP you might want to time your entrance. Check the server listing for number of players currently on-line and go in after it’s been closest to zero for more than a half hour or so. Maybe even wait a few days after the date listed in the merger schedule. etc.

I’m looking forward to it. This is going to be fun!

Ok so all of the material and thralls I want need to already be on my person before the transfer date yes?

Yep… or on the transfer date…

Ok. While I don’t like it, I feel more comfortable in being able to at least gather a few thralls to hold and select specific materials to take. Ie armors and wepons that are not replaceable. Thank you for the info

Not quite. Your transfer isnt complete until you log into the new server and therefore you body is in transfer limbo until then.

Except for the big red bar over your head, sure you can be stealthy as a mouse.

Like the tree in the forest, if no one is around to see it, does it actually exist? They have to be within something like 20m of you and cursor over you to see it anyway. If that’s the case (and it is) then that bit doesn’t matter almost at all. Within 20m and cursored over - they know you’re there health bar or not.

That isn’t always the case. If you use terrain, doorways, walls and stations, you can be ninja stealthy and actually raid a base from the inside if you are good enough. Sort of hard to do if someone notices the red bar above the tinker’s bench as you are laying prone to avoid detection.

Right, but we’re not talking about raiding are we? I thought we were talking about spawning in to a new map and making our way to a preferred location - when the server was empty or almost empty.

Fair point. If you are mousing it, it shouldn’t be a problem however you better have your plan layed out. Way too much at risk to not have the plan…which areas are cleared (please use a new character to scout) and what is going to be your hideaway base while you ramp up production to get your true home developed. Within the first hour of loggin in, you should factor that you have started production of building mats. If that doesn’t seem possible, develop new plan.

Yeah, really… Totally agree… But where’s the fun in that? Danger == Fun!

In my case I’m bringing the base with me in parts. It’s lighter than mats, doesn’t leave me open to attack for so long, and I’m not bringing a bunch of other quest-loot junk so plenty of space for it.
