Just installed latest patch, this version is 100% consistently broken. I always get the Lost Online Connection error dialog each time I try to play online. (Previous version this only happened 80% of the time. ) Windows 8.1, 16GB RAM, game installed with Steam.
I think it’s a matter of if your id was transferred correctly or not. Did the same thing you’ve done, it didn’t work.
yeah…i get the impression, the moment you get to this part of the charactercreation, the client tries to verify your identity again…with maybe some luck, you get your id transferred correctly…of course, this is not ideal…it should work reliable and not depending on luck, good connection, the weather or whatever causes the problem first place
AND… they should only release that kind of update on the TESTIVE SERVER… and make sure it runs smooth on thath BEFORE dropping it for everyone.
I mean, what’s the point of having that kind of client/server if something like that failure update still happens? I can’t understand, this isn’t bad luck or bugs, this is the sum of many bad decisions making., more than amateurism coding
I agree, but that has been argued before without results. So we have to aim for something cheaper. ![]()
Heya folks
well, our private server with AoC mod works pretty good for the most of us. Just one of our players gets freezes when she logs in after a few minutes. Does anyone have an idea how to sove this? We tried a lot, looked after faults in files and so on.
Would be nice if anyone could help, thanks
My LAN Dedicated server still doesn’t appear in Steam Servers list, not does my G-Portal server. I can connect to both with direct connect and all appears OK.
Workaround for existing players facing Character Creation screen after 6/18 Hotfix
This workaround has been tested and is based on info provided by Funcom. It is a workaround and should be used at your own risk. Funcom continues to work on a permanent solution.
It appears the players still faced with this issue are those that were impacted by the original bug (pre 6/18 hotfix) and who either never logged into server or who logged into server, saw the character creation screen and backed out.
The workaround steps:
- Log into selected server
- Get creation screen
- Create a new character (details and name don’t matter/leave defaults)
- Commit new character, see that character is ‘in game’
- Log out of server, return to main menu screen
- Log back into server
- Player should be presented with their original character back
- profit, you are back in business
Tested on several servers now.
Having listened to some of the players here i am now past the making a new character stage. now i am in however it crashes at approx 2 mins in. Has done so consistently in 3 log ins.
uuummm thanks but that doesn´t fit to the problem one of my players has o.O
She has freezes after a few minutes of playing her original character. None of us lost its character, but appreciate you tried to help
So I lost my character 3 days ago, after I did follow the character creation proces and made a new character, figuring I just lucked out (none of our other players was having a problem), before I read, that I should’ve backed out and waited. After this, I kept getting having the same problem as Daerana’s player… it kept freezing up after 20 seconds or so…
We deleted my old character: no effect.
Then I deleted my new character directly after logging in.
I got booted (makes sence without a character) and when I logged in once more…
I made a new character, without any issues.
I leveled up my new character (admin role) and restocked myself with some of the items, I had lost… then I went through the proces of trying to get back all my feats and recipes and such…
It took me a better part of a day of to do so…
Now the hotfix came out.
And guess what…
I’m back in character creation…
So tiresome… not sure what to do now…
So i was finally able to get on my character. Went to my server, created the new character, joined the game, exited to the main menu, rejoined and it logged me in on my existing character. Worked for me doesnt mean it’ll work for you, but no harm in trying.
As far as the freezing issue goes, i was given this.

I found a fix to the freezing games would you be kind to spread the word?
[5:24 PM]
(Example assumes Steam library is in C:\Steam)
First, uninstall BattleEye by going to and clicking here:
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\BattleEye\Uninstall_BattlEye.bat
Next, reinstall it from here:
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe
If the game launches, exit it.
Next, go into this folder and DELETE all the files:
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs
Finally, in that same folder, right click and create a new FOLDER named:
SilentEvents.log-upload-0
(making a folder with this name prevents the game from writing a log file here with the same name)
That’s it. Load up the game, you “should” be stable and not freeze/lockup every 3 minutes like I was!
This fix was found in a Win7 thread (even though I like most people are running Win10) that’s very active right now. Kudos to Illidan for it
The only reason you here is because it happened with you. Full stop, period
Would we be seeing you here if this would be the other way around?
If this would be the other way around will you come here asking for refund for the players that happened with?
Definitely not!
PS:instead of asking unrealistic things/complaining level up your character in the jungle and get a revenge.
That’s how it always works though, squeaky wheel gets the grease. Forum chats aren’t typically inundated with praise and compliments. Not saying that there aren’t any, just that it’s the usual outlet for complaints and outrage.
If you have a private server and still have the lost character problem, I’ve heard that after updating/patching, roll your game.db file back to before the time of the original update 41 and you should be ok. I did this anyway after I started hearing reports of lost characters and because I couldn’t connect right after update 41 so there was no lost progress anyway. We didn’t have any lost characters.
One of the posts from the Devs told us to exit out of the char creation screen if i comes up. Guess you didn’t see that. Sucks.
Like i said, opinion and the truth, some people just cant take. I think I proved my point
Also, if its a game I have bought, with my money, I have every right to vent my anger if it goes belly up
why not instead of trying to fix something that was broken in the first place remove the update let people go on and continue playing their game and work on fixing the update before you try and install it again instead your killing your company losing player base and soon losing money a smart ceo would say lets undo what we did and get our players back in the game
You do. within a normal tone and maintaining respect of others
