Update religion system

Blessings to protect your character and base from attack would suit those who prefer defense over raiding/attacking others. I like the game alot but constantly getting raided and losing your base and stuff is not fun.

Have you tried a PVE-C server? If the desire is to be protected from being raided, and to not raid others. You get the best of both worlds on PVE-C.

As much as I miss the idea of bubbles it’s actually a hugely positive change to have them removed.

No more farming zeal to bubble up every 36 hrs.
No more exploitative building that required a bubble -} unraidable.

Now it means you also have to participate in PVP, meaning actually defending and fighting. Not only relying on spam building yourself back in.

There are are a few things that could be more balanced though. Like reducing the distance of placing bombs, not allowing spamming of bombs, the way that bomb damage is currently is in a bad place as there’s no consistency, making all DLCs and base game building types consistent in how they recieve damage.

Then there’s dynamic building damage as a consideration.

You get raided when your off-line so how do you participate? By the time you build a base ready to go and your kit you get raided then your back to nothing, the people who raid have a massive advantage because of no real defense, I’d like to see a more robust religion system that can defend you and the more you work into the altar the better your defense gets.

I could but it’s not realistic…like how can your base not be damaged that’s why I do pvp…I just want to be competitive in my own way, I know I can Avatar but the time it takes vs someone with what battering ram now and bombs, how does the Altar compare to that?

Then you might want to consider a server with the ruleset you are looking for.

FC provides three types of servers, if none of those fit your playstyle, you’ll need to find one that does or host one that does.

No it’s very clear the religion system needs development and to also provide more player and base defense. Change is hard especially since raiding is so easy now.

OP they seem to like this “game loop” as they have yet to devise any effective defenses almost ever for raiding offline or otherwise. It is max number all the way to victory.

I think the removal of God bubbles warrants some compensation in terms of blessings to protect your character when your out there and your base, they have introduced many methods for attacking a base battering ram, bombs, lightning storm, they continue to add more ways for bases to get attacked while they removed a way to defend it, if only the altar could spawn defenders to help your base, and why? Because while your taking years to train one thrall others are mass producing jars and rams, so your constantly rebuilding which puts you another step back. This the current state of the game.

Religion getting an update in this game seems likely. Age of Gods. Is it too obvious? Makes too much sense not to happen.

I hope so, if the devs could make the Altars defend your base the more you add zeal and offerings you give,I mean it marks your base on the map, God bubble is gone, the best you get out of it is some food, I have my eye on SOUL MASK game, and you can recruit villagers to help you and follow you things like that., it’s possible if your base is under attack that the altar could spawn defenders near the attacker, your effort into the conan altars should be rewarded with better base defence.

There are others things that the religion system/altar can do as well, resurrect your thrall, horse, with your religion symbol.

As long as it’s not too far fetched from the lore in Conan.

I say bring back God Bubbles. Members are often raising the issue of the disparity between base raiding and base defence. Hell while we are at it bring back Shrine lights too. Light em up!

With only a few corner cases, sword shattered shield long ago in raiding.
The idea that the Avatar nerf compensated the Bubble pop is quaint.
The Avatar was the whipped topping.

Raiding is about IEDs.
It’s been about IEDs for years.
Given the long term dev silence on the topic, this is likely exactly as intended. Telekinetic instant fabrication explosives are, were, and seem likely to always be the way war is conducted in this game.

The only places not weak to Magic Bomb factory have been stripped of their invulnerability.

This one had hoped the Age of War would see some real adjustment to the Bomberman 3D sequel… But no.

As explosives dominance must never be challenged (regardless of how not at all relevant in lore it is) God Bubbles won’t come back as they were. Which is a shame, because if they got some modification, they could be a good anti-sorcery tool. No Bats or Ice Bridges above or into the area protected. No Thunderstorms called upon it and no performance tanking tissue zombie plagues from beneath.

As for bubbles and gods? Neither hot or cold. When i was playing pvp i was avoiding official servers.
Spawn kills, undermase and raid off was the main mentality.
I was playing mostly on 24 hours pvp servers, without gods mostly with active Admins.
I had fun without gods and bubbles, so i care not about them.
However, thralls archers who don’t shoot against avatars and your opponent have the control of it for 10 minutes? I believe op has a point here!

I’m all for better base defense, but I never liked the religion system, too big and overt.
A lot of things are too big, eg Vaults, using large chests you can make the same amount of storage in less space at a lower material cost. The extra HP a vault has isn’t worth the space necessary.
Once I stopped using vaults and started hiding chests, I stopped losing supplies to raiders.

I would rather see base defense take the form of traps and pitfalls an invader can’t see.

But I did say:

Religion needs an overhaul as it feels like yet another afterthought. It has a lot of potential but not just for PVP applications. Defense is a consideration but for example bubbles were never meant to prevent offline raiding. Bubbles were potentially and in practice exploitative.

Offline raiding needs a solution 100% as well. Me, like many others, have done the -be on every night all night babysitting base bullshit- forever. It’s boring, annoying and counterproductive. Guaranteed if we wanted a night off or to play on a more active server we were offlined.

Other than DBD there shouldn’t be any potential system in place that prevents people from raiding…

I like @droch-aon’s suggestion with traps and could tie in with religion nicely.
