(Updated 30 October) Age of Heroes Known Issues

Wait wha? Are you telling me that on the official Dune discussion on discord, they don’t want to talk about CE? Well what’s next? Soon they will have an issue of us talking about Hellslinger…oh wait.

So none of you find it awkward to complain in another group’s about the host’s problems with another project? How many of you go into KFC to complain about Taco Bell removing the Mexican pizza…again? That is essentially what you are doing.

Dune social media is reserved for a Dune, CE is for CE. If you got a beef with FC, the company has a Twitter and Facebook account where you can air grievances.

As for the poster that wants to legitimatize Karen behavior, you aren’t helping and you don’t get to claim your behavior helped them acknowledge their is a problem when your behavior came after their acknowledgement and progress report that they are testing viability of solutions. No this is you just venting frustrations and nothing more.

Finished Liu Fei’s questline, only to get the bugged version of him that has no perks. Because I’m in a clan.

Wasn’t this known about weeks ago? why is it STILL not fixed and happening after launch?

I guess he was talking about the discrepancy of resource allocation via FC, which on one hand is understandable, but ofc frustrates someone, looking at the dumpster fire over here.
But you probably know that and still posted that reply

There was an off topic channel, but it was far more about funcom representation then Conan. There wasn’t a day there wasn’t at lleats 3 some times 7 funcom reps of one sort or another, just BSing away about nothing of importance, in a discord for a game that hasn’t been released and has no player base. This is during hours you’d expect them to be working; note I am a very early riser so it was mid afternoon there[funcom main] if that late.

That wouldn’t be near as funny if you knew KFC and Long john silvers is the same place here, so ya, I’d be complaining about KFC at Long john silvers

Oh I stay off the propaganda networks. The only thing those are good for is grooming radicals.

Which is, after all, this forum’s primary objective.

It certainly isn’t about communication or player/dev interaction. It’s a community pressure value at best.

Of course the shiny new toy will get the attention. That’s just the way things operate. Babies get more attention than 10 year old siblings, you care more if your new car gets scratched over the other one that’s 3 years older. And yes new product development gets more money and personnel for launch than established brands.

We are a community of fans of a game that is 7 years old and this is still being actively developed for. The longer this goes on, the more impressive it is but we got to come to terms our game is not the belle of the ball for the company anymore.

Lastly we should come to terms with the Josh wish list that Dennis is trying to complete (which living settlements is one of these) was probably not implemented during his control of the game because it was either not probable or impossible at that time. To which this continuous bashing of Dennis for fulfilling Josh’s vision of the game is misplaced.

Here is the check list we should review to see the road map from 7 years ago.

No, no one asked for these things but Josh has laid out his vision to all of us back at launch and we passively accepted this.

My only question to @den is why didn’t you get the corpse flinging into the AoW or did you want settlements first to provide impact for this change (since it wouldn’t do much if the crafters weren’t able to be affected)?

Why am I not that concerned over the clear FUBAR of settlements? Because I have faith that Den will fix it and if he can’t he will decide to remove the function. I also have faith that @AndyB will do his best to represent us in discussions of any compensation for the pain we are going through. Without a baseline of this basic trust, I don’t see how anyone could enjoy the game…fearing the entire staff is trying to screw you over.

Lol…

Faith? Like they fixing the falling thru build pieces ?
faith ? In them fixing the tavern system ?
Like they fixing hacking and undermeshing
Faith in them fixing server performance ?

You can have faith in a higher power, not at a continued show of incompetence. Including the one showed by dennis and the game management. Who are clearly disconnected from the game , as much as they are disconnected from the community.

They need to bring people who understand the game, and know its limits. … this game is a bit short of being unplayable.

What pisssses me off is that some of us saw it coming warned fcommunity and asked to not deploy it as it was in testlive. They throw it anyways knowing the update was broken and buggy.

They really messed up by launching a buggy update with untested fixes and most of the issues reported in beta forum still in the game

I dont need faith, i want proof. Faith i leave it to god. Not to a corporation. When they Start making sense with actions not words. my trust in them will be back.

Right now i domt trust funcom or their managemebt

Then why play the game? Move on at that point because there is no reason to continue a relationship with someone you don’t trust.

What do you think, do we get a patch/fix before the weekend?

I’ve been really keen to play Conan all week, but don’t dare start because of the bugs… .

But it’s not a toy yet, till it gets released it’s just a concept.

So just ignore the 10 year old :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

That is a you thing. Older does not mean less important.

Do you have any idea how long the Dune discord has been open?
Long enough for me to go from one of the top posters to quit. Ya, a while.

Oh no, we are just the major bread winner, the foster kid in the basement that brings in the checks.

yaaaa wellll, that is a different argument. Some one points you down a road, and you start stepping on land mines, you might want to rethink your path.

“Damn the torpedoes full steam ahead” Sank quite a few ships in the convoy.

What live got was the fixed version. I just checked my beta base, all my thralls still at their stations working away.

But will they fix this? Sure, the real quest is will it be before ch2? You know, 6 months from now or some crap. But ya, they’ll fix it alright, see how well they fixed the foundation issues?

Oh I don’t think the entire staff is, just the ones actually making the decisions. And it’s not just me.

One question, do you honestly think Dune will be any different?

Thanks for the updates, appreciate the communication.

Can you pleased keep posting updates to your original post? Or create a locked update thread for devs, this post like so many others has been hijacked, save some of time scrolling through the crazy just to see what’s going on from you guys.

To the 10 yo perspective? Yes that is what they think happened. To the parent, the 10 yo can handle many things on their own. This is how businesses operate. Once the brand is established, it is supposed to be effectively self perpetuating. A money machine that grows itself while providing profit to the parent company. To get that, you have to invest time and money into the project and when it matures, you can ignore it for larger amounts of time. If I was Tencent, I would be push the FC executive team to figure out what is going on with CE and why it’s management isn’t a money machine yet. This is even beyond Dennis as more towards who is managing the CE brand.

We were…questionable how much impact we still have but still so what if we aren’t the main focus. If the game is good and we like it, we play.

Yes the bug issue is annoying and I hope Dennis and the QA team get a call into the office over this since there was additional effort and delay put out there to ensure this release was successful. I know I wouldn’t want to be Dennis at this point because accountability is a bitch.

Obviously that failed but that is now spilled milk and I’m not seeing a complete failure as the system does work and has perked my interest in how to make a modest village vs just a single keep so I see positive motion in redefining the game.

Not in the larger sense however it will be passed to a different managing team after it stabilizes and I would expect it transfers to this team faster than CE did. A different team mean a different way

It’s recently come to my attention that it might be possible that some of the folks who support our game work in a callous, toxic space.

Having worked in a toxic space, I understand what it feels like to be under-appreciated. Or not appreciated at all.

We aren’t operating inside their walls. So we don’t actually know what they have to contend with. It is possible that they are phoning it in. It is also possible that they’ve been buried with the headaches and furious mess of a launch (what I tend to believe).

I was able to get the bulleted list about the issues they are working to address. I call that a win. And I wanted to be appreciative. I wanted AndyB to know, that as a human being, I am grateful for him making the effort to come out and communicate with us. And I would like for him to continue doing so.

I thank people. That was how I was raised. There was no buttering-up motivation at all. I am sorry that you don’t see things the same way.

I really feel that Funcom/Devs spit in the face of the player base.

Running animations are still goofy and players run like imps if the floor isn’t flat.

Setite chocker/vest texture is bugged since 2021

You implemented bazaar and battle pass to support the game

You made the ages and you didn’t solve the bugs… Are you trying to obliterate the player base and what is left from it?

Do you even launch your own game? Do you play it sometimes?

I didn’t actually mean you, but I understand you completely. :+1:
I find it difficult to stay calm at times. I find this kind of politics to deal with the community very unpleasant. and I completely understand you about dune and CE.
Of course they are just the messengers, but ultimately they are the face of the company in the forums, and therefore the only way to express your wishes and criticism.
I was once in an employed position when I was younger, where people shook the base until they woke up at the top. there is only this way, or the way of money.
Overall, I’m just upset about all the sleepers and people who constantly approve of everything, no matter how ■■■■■■ it is, then nothing ever changes and you just keep going and the quality keeps getting worse…

“It has recently come to my attention that it may be possible that some of the people who support our game are working in a callous, toxic environment.”

OK, I can understand that. Given the performance delivered, no surprise on my part…

“Having worked in a toxic environment, I understand what it feels like to be underestimated. Or not appreciated at all.”

I think everyone has had to put this behind them at some point. I like to differentiate here between “justified” and “unjustified”. Ok, you’re right, criticism can also be expressed objectively. But honestly, come to your heart, were these things known or not? Was it responded to or not?

“We don’t operate within their walls. So we don’t really know what they’re struggling with. It’s possible that they’re calling it in. It’s also possible that they’ve been buried under the headaches and wild mess of a launch (which I rather believe).”

We have different opinions on that. Where I work you have responsibility for human lives, my employees who report to me couldn’t afford such a “start” and I have to make sure that it doesn’t happen.

"I was able to get a bulleted list of the problems they’re working to solve. I call that a victory. And I wanted to be grateful. I wanted to let AndyB know that as a human being, I’m grateful that he made the effort “To come out and communicate with us and I hope that he continues to do that.”

I think that’s nice of you, but the only way from my point of view is to let people like Andy know what the mood is like. As I said, if it stays calm there is no need for action. We enter into a cooperation, they make money with us, we enjoy the game. FC isn’t really known for giving players enjoyment. We’ve been there for years and have a say, I think.
And why were the bugs that were reported ignored? On some streams you had the impression that people didn’t even know their game. Sorry if it hits Andy, this isn’t meant personally, I’ll give the messenger a message…

“I thank the people. That’s how I was raised. There was no encouraging motivation at all. I’m sorry you don’t see things that way.”

No problem, I think you’re a nice person, that’s fine. People are different. I was taught that you have responsibility for the work you do. I’m nice too, but if I’m paid for something, if I take on a responsibility, if I have to deliver something, then I’m responsible for it and must perform accordingly, everyone in their own area. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a cleaning lady who is responsible for cleanliness or a doctor who performs brain surgery.
That’s how I was raised, I can be nice in my free time.

FC has a responsibility towards the players and the game. If they can’t keep up with this, then make room for the next person to do it better.
In the end, everyone wants this game to continue to exist… fans and developers.
