It seems that clans are using the ban feature as a weapon against each other. When someone gets upset with another clan, they gather their entire clan to submit tickets claiming grievances. Unfortunately, it appears that Funcom and Conan Exiles do not provide a way for the accused party to know what they allegedly did wrong. I’ve examined my area and I haven’t built anything that cannot be mined right next to me.
Anyone can report anyone else for no valid reason, potentially just to grief them. This leads to situations where we return to the server only to face the same harassment repeatedly, risking permanent bans. We have invested over $1,000 in this game, and there needs to be a way to communicate with someone when these issues arise. Griefers are exploiting the system, and it’s simply not fair.
I have been playing video games for a long time—longer than many of these individuals have been alive—and I have never been banned. There must be a balance. While I understand the need to ban players for harassment, banning an entire clan simply because they are upset with another clan is unjust. It’s especially concerning when players are banned for building large bases or constructing over resources that are not rare and can be found throughout the map.
My guildmate lost everything he had been collecting because of these actions. To make matters worse, the clan responsible boasted about their successful ban on another server. What recourse do we have once the ban is lifted, especially if they try to get us banned again?
Unfortunately Funcom will do nothing against this. People abusing bots that mass report specific clans and people when their pixels are in jeopardy. It is a very sad thing. If you get reported enough you can’t even appeal it.
Best course of action? Don’t play officials. Between hackers and report meta abusers it’s not worth your time. If you do just use alts. Don’t risk your main.
Apparently it’s easier to get banned by Spam Report than cheating
In the forum it’s the same thing…You get reported and your post gets automatically Hidden or Flagged, in fact…Do report this comment, and see how long it takes to “dissappear” regardless of respecting the Tos.
Bingo! And until they fix that, the TOS enforcement is going to continue being a problem, rather than a solution.
None. Tons of people on these forums have complained about the same fundamental flaw in the system, in many different words, in tones ranging from polite and constructive to frothing at the mouth. Nothing has produced any results.
Funcom might end up improving the system, but I assure you that, as players, our agency in these matters is little to none. I can’t think of anything we haven’t tried to make them take action.
With Exiles, it is 35 bucks a pop and if you want any DLC’s, that is even more money they would have to spend, so just switching an account or making a new one, is not a good route.
This is nothing new , similar practices were common in World of tanks more than 10 years ago (when I used to play it) in clan wars.
There was also a lot of automation in the system so it was abused a lot.
The Ban System exploit will not be going away. The only way to avoid the griefing is to get a private server and establish a standard for the people you allow on, only allowing people that are qualified. More private server admins will begin charging a fee as people seek stable playing environments.
Right and it doesn’t take an expansion of the player base in order for the existing player base to seek a stable playing environment. Stable online playing environments are rare and desired. There’s value in that and people will pay for value. The Conan Exiles game isn’t going away any time soon as there is no indication right now that it will, and neither is the enthusiast player base.
