Want to have the game to run a lot faster ? Do this

Disable the freak log.

Engine.ini

[Core.Log]
Global=none
LogPhysics=none
LogNet=none
LogAnimation=none

Crashing, slow down, etc, and a mb (sometimes gb if you play long sessions) of lines like “emote line not found” or “ destroyed because ” filling the log.

If you are playing and the game is writing those useless to player logs full of information that not even serve any player purpose, it start to clog your system.

Along with that I have also set the better running graphics tutorial on Steam that also makes the game run better:

A lot of problems can be solved by those two things.

Yes, the post is a 2 out of 2 miss, but I’m not surprised…

First of all “none” isn’t a valid option for logging levels, it would be NoLogging to turn them off and that guide from steam, while it does contain some good settings that improve graphics, it also contains several bad ones that have values set out of the valid ranges.

Excellent information! I applied all your settings in the Engine.ini (made a backup first) and … WOW! I did change my UI back to 100% and slightly changed the distance setting per your recommendations. I also set the Nvidia settings per your recommendations. I am so pleased with how my game looks now. My performance seems better and task manager shows I stay around 60-70% utilization. The colors and look of the game now look so much better. Thank you very much! I just suggest anyone who tries this to make sure and backup your engine.ini first. If you are not happy with the results then just copy the original file back.

I will try this also and thank you for the extra information.

This sounds a lot like a phantom problem.

Would you mind elaborating?

Myself and I am sure others that are not particularly savvy about UE4 would appreciate it. I often find good tweak guides hard to find or outdated.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort :slight_smile:

I actually did a very long time ago, that’s how I know.
I took that exact guide and looked up all the parameters I wasn’t sure about in the unreal documentation.
One of them in the original actually has a weird effect that inverts shadows making things look like an over-sharpened cartoon because they function more as an outline than a shadow.

Anyway, back then I made a post about it with the settings that I did personally keep, it’s only a fraction of it and you can find the post here
Though since then Funcom actually changed their defaults, they’re also using temporal AA now by default among other changes, so it’s not as much of a difference as it used to be, plus it was a long time ago so maybe if I did the same process today I might disagree with myself too, idk, I still have most of those in my current ini file thou as I haven’t really changed it much since :slight_smile:
Anyway, take it with a grain of salt - as you correctly pointed out, pretty much all circulating ini file tweaks (be it for the client or the server) are outdated / no longer needed / never were very good to begin with.

Thank you Xevyr, appreciate the link and it gives me a nice starting point as I would like to better understand some of these tweaks.

I usually don’t even have many issues visual or performance wise, but like the idea of perhaps improving it a little without adversely affecting performance to much.

Cheers!

Here are two before and after pics I took. FWIW I am quite pleased with the results. The after pics look so much richer and vibrant to me and my performance seems the same or better than before. The afters are on top.

Guys try to disable anti-aliasing and see how much sharper and better the image is.
Setting AA even to minimum makes the game look so blurred… (still not as blurred as back in 2.x )

If you play in 1440p or 4k on a normal 27’ screen the game looks much better to me. In 1080p or on a big screen you are probably going to see pixels.

Anyway the “blurred games” subject is becoming a thing on youtube.
