I didn’t die, I don’t think it was a result of becoming submerged in water (fresh warpaint doesn’t come off when swimming/submerged), I just all of a sudden noticed my Agility Warpaint (which I use to bump my agility up to 40) was gone.
Do they just wear off after a set amount of time? If so this isn’t indicated anywhere in the game or in the wiki, and makes the sloughing fluid somewhat redundant.
Can doing something (besides dying) cause it to wear off?
Active warpaints wear off after a certain amount of time.

That should really be mentioned somewhere. Like in the description of the warpaint, or shown as a timer or status effect in the inventory or stats window, or the wiki…
I believe the warpaint timer is 1hr but don’t quote me on that.
“Warpaint timer is 1 hour.”
For active paints it is relatively short, like 1-2 hours. I think it’s supposed to be similar to most other buffs like an elixir or the stam buff from booze.
Decorative paints wear off too, but much more slowly. Something like a week? Maybe an in game week? Either way, I only have to reapply mine after a few RL days.
