Howdy folks. So, I want to start off by saying anything I say in this post comes from a place of respect. I harbor no ill will toward Funcom or the devs. They made a game that I love, one that helps me unwind after a tough day. I love this game and will continue to play it as long as I can.
With that out of the way, I think the devs owe PlayStation players an update on a native PS5 version. Xbox Series consoles got one almost 4 years ago. Why isn’t there parity between PS5 and Xbox?
Is it still on the table? Is it on the back burner? Is it coming this year? Regardless of the answer, the devs owe it to their PS fans to provide an answer, even if it’s one that won’t be well received.
There was a post a while back by a dev that they care about all console versions and they will continue to update them. I believed them. Still do. But the PS version is still the most inferior version of the game. Yet it still costs 50 bucks to buy on PSN. More if you get Siptah.
So can we please get an update on a native PS5 version of the game?
Thanks for listening to my frustrations. Thanks for this awesome game and all the hard work you guys have put into over the years and are still putting into it.
This late into the game’s life, I’d say there won’t be a dedicated PS5 version of the game at all. If Funcom were serious about doing it, they would have released it around the same time as the Series X/S update when current gen consoles were new.
I’d agree that’s likely the case, which would be a shame, but it is what it is. I still think us PS players deserve some sort of communication.
Also, at minimum a patch to update framerate to 60 fps shouldn’t be off the table, regardless of the game’s age. Heck, the older AC games like Syndicate got such patches recently.
Would you want a bug fixed by a newer installation of the graphics board? I don’t understand that: why take that route? It seems micro-code can alleviate that.
Yes, any graphics driver that has certain bugs is too much. The intent is to fix the exploit. Just the exploit.
Now… OpenVR is a step up. Can you stick your head through the wall and see the other side? Hmmm? Fixt. (I’m going by a video on that note.)
Disappointed, but not surprised that no one from Funcom have commented on it. I realize I’m only one fan, but there are a lot of players on PS5 and I’m sure most of them would like some kind of answer. Even if it’s just a “no, it’s never happening.”
Please Funcom, throw your PlayStation fans a bone and let us know the score.
There are multiple posts throughout the past few years requesting news on this update. All of them ignored. It’s honestly pretty stunning that an issue has been so widely discussed and asked for (here and elsewhere) and nothing but radio silence for YEARS.
Can we at least get some kind of acknowledgement? Please? This is an incredible game and PS5 users deserve a better version of it.
We are now in the “Age of Fixes” according to the recent producer’s letter. I’d say this is a pretty vital one for the large PlayStation Conan community.
It might be a Sony issue tbh. When 9th gen launched, Xbox had free upgrades for a ton of 8th gen games to 9th gen (no second purchase required). Sony did not.
Don’t think that’s an issue. Plenty of games got free upgrades on PS5. As mentioned earlier, even older games like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate just got a 60 fps patch on PS5 a few months ago. Plenty of games have also received free upgrades: No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk, Doom Eternal, Elder Scrolls Online, World War Z, etc.
If it’s no longer in the works, or never was in the works, that was a decision made by Funcom. Period. Either due to time or financial constraints, or issues with the code on PS4. Or all of the above.
I read a few years ago on the Forum that upgrading for PS5 by Funcom could destroy Conan-Exi for ps4 don’t know how true that is. In my 10 thousand hours in the game wore out 2 ps4 and playing on PS5 now with but not every one can afford to upgrade.
This late in the game’s lifecycle, I highly doubt Funcom would do anything for PS5 beyond bug fixes. If they were going to do the update, it would have been released around the same time as the one for Series X/S. Maybe if Funcom split the servers between 8th and 9th gen like Rockstar has done with GTA Online, PS5 could get some love
Been doing a bit of reading up on the issue when I’ve had time and I think I finally grasp the issue. They’d basically have to release a separate app for the PS5 version as Sony doesn’t allow optimizations on the same app as Xbox does, which is what you were saying.
Which is understandable, as it would have required a lot more work. I still think Funcom should have addressed it more clearly, but that’s usually the way things go in this industry (and many others, to be fair). If it’s not happening, best to just not talk about it.
It’s a shame nothing could be done, as the PlayStation version will remain a red-headed step child version of the game, but that’s life.
