Weaponising of the report system, or deeper issue?

Earlier today, while I was playing on an official playstation PVE-C server, 1 of my clan’s 3 bases was wiped and all humanoid thralls inside were killed. I was not at the base at the time and didn’t notice until later. This base is in a location such that it is impossible to kite enemies in order to kill thralls. We know Funcom does not take the time to investigate and take down specific bases, they simply delete ALL buildings when an infraction is reported. This is their official position.

A few days ago another player attacked me at this particular base and upon losing the fight proceeded to message me saying they were going to wipe the base. Now despite following the official server guidelines, I do always anticipate an admin wipe just because that seems to be the current meta. What I didn’t expect is for that one specific base to be targeted, for all my thralls inside to be killed and nothing taken.

I’m no longer convinced that the false-flagging and reporting meta are the only issues at play. And I don’t think official server admins are the only ones with access to the admin panel. Funcom being dead silent on these issues doesn’t do much to instill faith.

I haven’t stopped playing, this isn’t a lengthy departure post. Merely an observation. For now, back to tending the other two bases, at least until these are found out by the cheaters and similarly deleted.

There’s nothing that can be done for my case, and I’m not here looking for any answers or reimbursement, but maybe this will give a little clarity to other players who have had their bases deleted and can’t fathom why. Maybe you weren’t breaking any rules. Maybe Funcom DIDN’T investigate your base. Maybe, just maybe, a cheater with admin panel came by and decided to target you specifically.

From what I heard and experience for the past 6 years. Funcom goes base off pictures and nothing else. Some players will go on coop and create a clan with same name and report something that had your nane on it.

Out of curiosity what system are you playing on?

Ohhh, they do. That’s why they ask for certain details, but if all they get is a WOT through zendesk, don’t expect much until it is deciphered.

Well… Since you brought it up…

I don’t know what happened…
I don’t care either to fill a ticket because I am not an expert to these situations, but it’s feedback they need to have, yet I really wish this is my mistake, but it’s not my first time on pve official servers, it happened on 3504 too when I was playing with @sestus2009 exactly in the same build location on the mount of the dead.
Again, I wish this is my mistake!

You are funny that they ask for certain detail tp better investigate. When I have a ticket that was to determine if my base is to big and they come back we will not lift your suspension into you confirm you know the rules. Even though i stated the rules are not clear I need clarification.

By the way I was not suspended when support wrote that statement so they didnt investigate amything. I had two tickets one for clarification on base size and another for after the suspension was lifted on why i was suspended. That clearly shows they dont do any leg work on figuring things out. I have screenshots and tickets with this information of lies. If i post it the thread would be closed.

which is probably better. for me, not a single one of your posts seems like you’re really interested in resolving anything. you just want to complain and blame everyone but yourself. so the whole thing is just wasted time.

Admin panel access would show anything deleted by an admin as being done by an admin in Event Log. There’s also an admin command log file that shows whenever an admin is logged in.

Two possibilities here. A stability issue related bug, or an exploit hinging on the stability system (I don’t see this being a thing, but I won’t entirely rule it out either).

If there is cheats or hacks going on, the only way for FC to fix that is for someone to link them to the source of such. Otherwise they open their devkit and look around blindly for hours, days, weeks, and years in the hopes of finding something out of place. While that is a possible way of finding a problem, it isn’t very effective.

But this is why when doing any sort of bug reporting that reproduction is asked for. It gives them something to work with, they can put the logic of what is happening together and can focus on what might be the cause.

Stability issues have been in the game for years. Many have been fixed. But the issue there is how diverse they are. They don’t affect everyone. When they affect people, they do so differently. Personally I have NEVER had a stability issue outside of the one involving roof tiles, and that was years ago, its been since fixed. For me. But I have played on servers where other players have had entire sections fall apart.

How do they even fix that? First they need the building to test with. But the building fell apart, so its gone for most. And the frustrating thing is, those of us who are capable of sending them building examples, don’t usually have the problem.

Having some things disappearing the same way. I Thought that it was stopped but it occurred again yesterday

Talking about it not going to resolve anything. Having enough complaints from multiple people usually resolve things. I guess those low star yelp reviews mean nothing to a company. He spoke his piece but as a player what can we do? Besides voice our own complaints to add on top of existing.

Look, @Elloquello said something about “hacks” in Playstation. I just said that maybe, maybe, he is right. This was a total pvp wipe in an official pve server :man_shrugging:. My door is missing, broken, not open.
My event log says nothing of decay, blah, blah, yet my last visit was 5 days ago and this is totally obvious.
However, these are all speculations, nobody knows what is really going on except them, we are just assuming here.
Yet if we have console hacks now too, the greatest advantage of consoles is gone.

I would be interested in learning if a two week ban followed after 24 hours.

Admin base wipe of the offending structure followed by a two week ban has been my experience and that of other folks who fell afoul of the revised ToS.

Some time ago a player in my server told me that he saws someone wiping a base like an admin, and told that the guy could fly. In did not believe him in the occasion, but now im in doubt.

@EduMariano
A lot of things I couldn’t believe either, I was like since it didn’t happen to me then it’s a lie…
I was deadly wrong and really unfair and I am not speaking for the forum but in the servers I was participating. In one private pvp Playstation server once an admin spawned a statue that looked like Mitra in the size of colossus. This about 3 years ago.

Not to jump on the bandwagon here but a couple of weeks ago my PVE base had the same thing happen to it.

At first I just thought I had mis-timed the decay timer, life had gotten a bit messy for me of late (Storm = New roof) and I thought I had just missed the window, and other’s had seized the chance and looted it. I realise now that I had actually been under the seven days timer.

Everything was taken, all my doors had been dismantled and every container and workbenches dismantled. What irritates me was that just after I had finished making the base, Funcom announced the server mergers, so I thought uh-oh, better consolidate (just in case) - Normally I would never do this, bad luck for me, jackpot for the looters, lol

I have already started to rebuild, but now I am wondering if it is worth doing, because I’d really not sink a lot time back into it all only for this to happen again.

Losing the event thralls are what hurts, everything else can be replaced.

Anyway, maybe time for extra vigilance.

I am not sure this is caused by cheaters. It could be ofc, but I think that maybe the decaytimer is bugged somehow and the decay ends faster then it should. Because normally that is exactly what I do with buildings I come across that have decayed. Open only the doors, removing the workbenches (if they aren´t lootable without destroying) and the chests. Then I leave. It kinda has the same footprint.

The good thing is the PS4 gets regular updates. Bad thing is CE doesn’t, which opens the door for what we’d call modkits. Basically, a user buys a [mcguffin] that goes into the [redacted] on the PS4’s hardware. It keeps the [deleted] from updated the firmware, which opens the door to custom “phreaks,” or cracks that impersonate system software. In other words, this might be a bit expensive for a game that has notable holes in it already.

@Crompox I saw asynchronous decay on bases I visited every day, that had stood since May of 2021. Such things as small palisades, although well within the bubble of decay were deleted somewhat at random.

@Elloquello is the base that they wiped a ground base?

That is a person that emulates the phone, illegally. I know not why it matters (in this thread).

Proving a modded playstation involves a takedown under DCMA in the U.S.

Yeah, there are people who spend all of their time trying to hack platforms and/or games. And all of the people who claim it can’t be done have to eat crow about once every 3 months when someone downloads a 10 million account user base, gaining all of their banking and CC info, along with their passwords, names and addresses.

If an Admin can log on and perform administrative tasks then the system is vulnerable and hackers can do the same.

I think I was a victim of this myself too. Whole base wiped. Server Log said I was off for 7 days. My brain and my computer log said I was only off for 4 days. ~=shrug=~

The fact in PC the tilde key dhows funcom IDs for servers along with a function to see commands means a pro hacker can figure how to activate said commands on officials.
