Weird mod-loading behavior

Game mode: [Online private]
Type of issue: [Misc]
Server type: [PvP]
Region: [US]

We have several mods on my private server, and we’ve never had any sort of issue before (at least, not that couldn’t be passed off as Gportal weirdness). I just recently introduced a new mod, Seductive Derketo Priests, and since then this issue has been cropping up.

After selecting my server for Online Play & clicking through the password, I receive the screen warning me that my mods do not match what is on the server, even though they do (load order is correct, everything up-to-date, etc.). There’s a moment while the game actually checks the mods, then decides that everything is, in fact, just fine. The Connect button then highlights; clicking it closes the game and immediately relaunches it. Checking the box marked “Connect when ready” does the same thing.

Is there some setting I’m unaware of here? Or is this some new mod-checking “feature” that’s been recently introduced that I missed in the patch notes? If this is my new normal, then fine, I’ll adapt; however, it’s irritating at best. It already takes an alarming period of time to load into my server, and now I have to wait through that gorram intro video twice.

If it matters, our other mods are (in no particular order): Pippi, Fashionist, Pickup+, Emberlight, Compass Icon, and Conan Sexiles.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Launch game, wait through intro video(s), select Play Online, select server.
  2. Receive Mod Mismatch error screen.
  3. Wait a moment while the game actually compares what’s on my PC with what’s on the server.
  4. Game decides that everything’s actually okay after all and relaunches.

I had this problem a few times when using gportal. The server sometimes had problem getting the update and I had to use FTP to check on the server to see if the file was the same version and then copy it from the client.
Now I use DedicatedServeLauncher, must easier and its free.

Your client and the server need all two run the same version.

Steam doesn’t do still well the update job, so if you run a server, hosted one, best if you use many mods, bigger mods, use a good old school FTP to upload your mods to your server, and you want run anymore in this issue.
It’s mostly a steam-problem, and steam command, not executing properly, and not recognising the old version, or missing to replace some files.

Still, use an FTP, like Filezilla is free to download and easy to use. Just google it.

Don’t know anything about FTP or how to do it…but I’ll google this Filezilla. Thanks!
