I’m coming across a few ghost who will point to or trigger a chest reveal, but when you get to the chest it won’t open. After doing some research it appears these chests have been broken a while with no fix. If Funcom isn’t going to fix the chests, how about you just unlock them so people can open them and avoid the frustration?

I like to think of them as the Conan Exiles equivalent of blue balls. A bug probably prevented them from opening in the first place but now they stand as an easter egg oddity… kinda like the Black Yeti who drops a key but has no chest nearby…
From what I’ve observed, on an “Official” PVE server, it would seem that the chests do open and give up their contents but only once per server day (ie. once between server restarts). So it’s a first come first served scenario.
So if you want to raid a “ghost” chest find out when the server restart is and get to the chest as soon after the restart as possible.
There are a couple that do not open. One is found by following a “ghost bear”. It rises from the ground, you cant open it, and then it sinks again.
they used to work a while back but funcom being funcom…
Rent my own server that only me and my friend play on. We’re always first to the chest, doesn’t work.
