people are just plainly asking for what they want, your the only one here shocked and appalled that anyone dare be upset at funcom over this, calling people names and more Only one being toxic here is you
I suggest you go by your own words first. You fully agreed with the quoted claim that said no real roleplayers would leave over a particular mod. In other words, anyone willing to leave the game over Tot Custom is not a real roleplayer in your eyes.
And to be perfectly frank, I feel very uncomfortable participating in discussions that you visit simply by the amount of opinionated patronizing I feel from your posts despite your repeated suggestions to “spread possitive attitude”. Just so you know.
Typical RP community at it’s peak, dramas, dramas, and community splits
Just relax, nobody knows what happened to that bloody mod, or they know but don’t want to admit to what actually happened.
The mod is gone and you guys who relied on that mod need to carry on. And next time never install mods that are going to f-ck up your server when things go downhill.
I would not wait being in your shoes. Sure it broke your fun, sure your characters are gone with all the decorations and progress. Just learn from it and try to reduce number of mods to bare minimum.
Just leave the big boobs and long dicks mod, as it’s essential for every RP community
/me watches adult people fighting over who is a more g rper
You do realize that this might also cause the Tot modder to quit.
And that there is not only Tot:Custom, but also Tot:Chat, Tot:Admin, but also Tot:ImmersiveHud, and a few others.
And… even more importantly, Tot has just ‘inherited’ Roleplay Redux.
Perhaps it’s not going to be the end of the RP community, but it risks being a huge blow.
But even Tot:Custom alone… I would take Tot:Custom ten times over all of the content of the entire past year of CE updates, bazaar items and battle passes. The level of customization it allows is unmatched by any game I can think of.
I still hope Funcom’s people make the right call.
And that maybe they also decide to be transparent, as much as they possibly can: which is clearly not what they are currently doing.
He’s a pretty resourceful and resilient fellow. Most of our wonderful modding community are.
I agree, and am also sort of optimistic about this, but I do see some ‘risk’ involved
I just wish for some more transparency, or at least keeping the community updated as much as possible. Silence for 5 consecutive days is not really such a great effort on that side
cringeeeeeee…
Your agreement to this was you directly stating your support for the statement “Roleplayers won’t leave over a particular mod being good enough. Not real RPers anyway”
Please at least attempt to have an honest discourse here instead of just taking any opportunity to bash the modded RP community like you’ve done so far. If anyone’s been toxic, it’s most definitely you. I haven’t twisted any reality, I’ve taken the words you’ve given me and assessed them in the intended manner.
Because it does things that Funcom doesn’t want mod authors to do. Yep, monetization is one guess. In other words, if the mod mimics Funcom, then it falls into scrutiny like this.
They didn’t support anything I said. They simply acknowledged a stated fact.
Like Oduda said, the fact remains that no-one beyond Funcom and the mod author knows why it was banned. Guessing and speculation without evidence won’t help anyone, and may in fact just add fuel to the already blazing fire.
Doubt we will see fewer posts about Tot!Custom as the time goes by.
We are already in the middle of work week and soon will approach the weekend and people get more and more agitated.
Mod creator posts daily updates about their “conversation” with funcom, and…
It doesn’t look good.
A simple “we are looking into the issue” not even here but in Tot’s mail will do wonders but guess they either don’t care or have no interest in a possible fix.
I understand people’s sympathies are on the side of the little guy and not the big evil company, but we also don’t know what the “response” contained. I want to believe that the mod author is honestly trying to resolve the matter, being civil and providing all the information Funcom needs, but all we are seeing is their side in a case that is probably more complicated than we think.
And as I’ve said elsewhere, Funcom may be unable to state their case publicly due to various legal reasons that are binding to companies but not necessarily to private individuals such as the mod author. So we may never see more than this one side’s view into the matter.
(It may also be that Funcom looked at the forum rage caused by the incident, and how some people behaved, and decided that “screw it, those people don’t deserve their toys back”, but I’m hoping they’re better people than that.)
" “screw it, those people don’t deserve their toys back” response will cause more harm than good for them as a company.
A good chunk of players already have negative views of the company and its practices so it won’t do anything but bring more unnecessary drama and even more exposure to the whole problem.
Despite what tot supporters say no response won’t hurt them much but it will give them reasons to use 3rd party platforms to spread their mods with no tos to keep them at bay. What will stop people who already hate the company from breaking every dlc or bazaar block in Funcom system and spreading the access via a specific mod or even 3rd party soft that will allow use of said items on officials etc?
Even now people use 3rd party soft to edit in-game values of BP challenges to 100000000000000 xp just to finish the whole thing in one challenge. Since the first BP, with no bans or anything. That’s how flawed their security is.
