On the prior livestream with Joel on, a topic came up on which Age of Conan armours you’d like to see in game and Joel suggested I believe to make it a forum thing, so here I am!
Got very fond memories of AoC, played the beta in 2008, bought it in 2009, still log in on occasion to this day. The armours IMO are still one of the best to this day and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of them in exiles, so I’d like to get the ball rolling on the topic(not sure if general or suggestions is the correct section, seeing as it hopefully brings in community input).
My first batch is Black Kingdoms inspired, the top two are vanity sets from Kush you get with in-game tokens, don’t have the set names on top of my head, and the final one is a Darfari set that can be found in various level ranges.
And finally, I considered my two mains to be my PoM and my ToS. So first up is the tier 3.5 Revelations Priest of Mitra armour set, and second up is the tier 3 Tempest of Set Sundered Skies armour.
These are just some of the armours, as there’s way too many good looking sets in that game. Also these in-game pics ain’t mine, just snagged them online, so apologies for the possible quality.
If you played Age of Conan, what are some of your favs?
Hm, I do like the armor designs a lot, but imo the poitain stuff is already a little bit over the top. Its too pompous in comparison to the sturdy ancient looking armors we have in the rest of the game. Keep it more naked please Only evil characters have full armor in the hyborian age.
Apart from that, I would like to see this set here:
Age of Conan is really a design masterpiece. The dungeons give you immediately a sense and alienating sense of danger. The architecture alone is thrilling in its inhuman proportions. You know immediately that those places weren’t made for humans and something terrible must have inhabited it once.
Each culture has a unique style that looks naturally grown. (I know it is inspired from actualy cultural heritage such as etruscean, minoan, aztec, jemenite, scythean ect ect, but it still comes very convincingly into the hard fantasy setting of AoC)
The dragonspine content is what I loved most. Luckily CE took already a good chunk from it .
I’d already posted some shots of AoC armors and casual outfits I’d love to be able to wear in Conan Exiles in another thread, but here they are again anyway.
First, among the armors I’ve accumulated myself or just saw around the world:
Khitan mercenary armor. These are probably my two favorite armors in my wardrobe. I don’t really need to show both since they’re just palette swaps aside from the bracers, but I’m posting both anyway.
ALL of them. The more the merrier. I would love to see some kind of system that allows you to modify the temperature bonuses on some of these armors though. That vanir set makes no sense lol.
I put on a diffent thread I’d like to see an snake skin bikini as a clothing/armour set.
I feel that there should be a clothing subset that has good buffs but very little armour.
That should have better temperature protections and verying debuf resistance.
Id like to be able to incorporate the kind of animal skins that go into the crafting of the armour.
For example using tiger skin, to make striped clothing etc.
I love the Poitain things! It’s so knightly which I swear we’ve needed!!! More cool armors, now that I got my knight armor, I don’t mind where it goes from there!!!
Some of the AoC stuff is nice. However it doesn’t always fit the descriptions from the stories. For example Zingarans should look like Spanish Conquistadors instead of Bronze Age fighters.
