Why are ( Fighter ) Thralls constantly getting Warden / Deadeye Perk?

Even with the gruel +17% growth bonus add on for strength I still get more ACC perks than not. They need to break the free range RNG and come up with something better.

I was kinda joking, but the tension between variety and balance is something I see come up a lot. Variety among the thrall’s stats is going to mean variety in efficiency, there’s just no way around it. And variety in efficiency is going to be subjected to people optimising :man_shrugging:

You could say that it’s up to the devs to make all the thralls more closely balanced in power so people use them all. But to make thralls balanced in that way they’d be boring for everyone. And come on - even if there was a 1% difference in power between the best and the second best, people would all be using the best one because it’s optimal. That’s what gamers do.

My thinking is that the devs made a variety of different thralls at different power levels for people to use as they go the first time they play through. Tessa the Blade is a good starter thrall. Berserkers etc are endgame thralls. but gamers being gamers, people who just installed the game yesterday are googling how and where to get the endgame thralls, and skipping the rest because “why bother?” And people who’ve played through before know what to do and head for it, unless they’re handicapping themselves for immersion reasons or something.

So imo it’s not the devs making it boring it’s the players, hence my joke that maybe they’re punishing us for being boring

It’s not true anyway though - I levelled an Exile bearer II on Siptah yesterday and right after I made that post her perks were Warden and Deadeye. So it’s all of them lol, not just the optimal ones.

variety can be encouraged better if they make it so that each [Class] of Follow/Guard Thrall has [Subclasses] they can unlock with different stat distributions.

An example with this would be the [Fighter] getting Warden and Deadeye Perks and/or a large amount of Accuracy. Once they hit a threshold, they might upgrade from [Fighter] to [Skirmisher] and rather than having a melee bonus, they would get a bonus when using throwing weapons in melee AND ranged.

An [Archer] that get’s loads of Strength might transform into a [Myrmidon] and have a bonus for using Swords, specifically.

Then without changing how stats distribute or giving players ways to reset/gamble for different stats/perks… you evolve the current situation into something more interesting.

You could even make it so certain negative perks have the possibility to unlock hidden subclasses… like a drinking habit might create a [Drunken Brawler] or something. [Drunken Brawler] could gain the ability to consume alcohol instead of food and associated benefits from the alcohol…

Yeah see that’s a good idea! Even more simply though, they could just make strength/accuracy perks dependent on what you put in the thrall’s inventory.

They might already do things like this sometimes. One of my clan mates on the exiled lands had a Relic Hunter (Stygian) thrall that she kept giving human flesh to as a joke, and after a while it started disappearing… turned out he’d got a perk that turned him into a cannibal and buffed him when he ate human flesh! We weren’t sure if it was a coincidence or if he got the perk because she kept giving him the human flesh. If it was the latter then why not extend that to combat related perks?

They set it up like this to keep you on the grind if you don’t get the perk you want dismiss and try again i expect people will start to dismiss trall that got dow dow perks to get better ones when the trall cap hits next week

The problem with that is, that getting a thrall that will both fit your stat expectations, as well as visual, is so low it’s effectively unobtainable.

I recently planted down over 30 Jhebbal Sag Warriors from surges after a lot of farming.

I had a few out of all those with good percentage to gain in Strength and Vitality like 70+70, however out of the whole lot, there was one outstanding Warrior with 90%+80% Str/Vit, 50% Agility and the rest 40%. I was really pleased with this rare find and was looking forward to levelling him until I remembered that he’ll likely get some negative ‘perks’. This system is so depressing. :unamused:

Not for named combat thralls so far as I’ve seen, but for generic T4 they have random appearances

Yeah y anyone would worry about what a trall looks like is just off topic and the last thing anyone should worry about you put armor on the trall anyways to keep it alive i got like 7 trall that are fighters that have all fighter perks don’t care about their look and y because it took me forever to get them and funcom made it this way to keep you working day after day.

So i guess what I’m trying to say here is good luck trying to get them to change it one of the main reason they have it like this obviously PVP and if you ask someone from funcom that probably be their first answer.

Not me anymore, I just uninstalled :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Look, fighting style and above all voice/taunts are “make or break” for my bodyguard material. Honestly, I take the bad with the good with my training, and I’m actually enjoying it this go-around.

I mentioned my zerk Ankh-Aten: he’s perfectly fine and serviceable, and he got the AGI +10 to fill in his weaknesses. But he’s base guard material. A rare few zerks are simply gorgeous, with flowing locks, bronzed physiques, clear taunts and all the best attributes. Those are the ones I want for my bodyguards.

One thing I’ve noticed that itches me is all the Nord Archer 3s I’ve put out start with 0 ACC. Is this because they’re overpowered?

I took this thrall from the Unnamed City. As soon as I heard her taunt, I knew she was my favorite.
I swear she sounds exactly like Katheryn Winnick in “Vikings”.

It’d help if they made archers and pets more desirable.

Archers - give them an extra line of carrying capacity, or heck even just a few slots. Bump their damage a bit, and fix some of their bugginess. They still won’t outclass a Dal, but they’ll be a decent choice. Did they ever fix the issue where they’ll shoot arrows repeatedly at nothing?

Pets - Please, funcom, give us a way to have pets knockout NPCs instead of just kill them. Add some perks for them too that are base armor upgrades maybe with a point or two in a stat. I love my greater pets, but I can’t have them eating that T4 crafter either…
