This has probably been posted about before, but why isnt the battlepass integrated into the actual gameplay? The fact that it’s seperated into annoying side tasks is such an odd design decision - it gives basically no incentive to do them other than smash them out via admin in single player.
Other games which do similar - such as sea of thieves, integrate them into your normal activities. You have more motivation to get out and sail around, kill things, turn in loot because it advances the battlepass regardless, a genuine incentive to play.
But this Conan one? It honestly couldnt be more on the nose - I wouldnt be too concerned if this system replaced the awesome DLC packs of which i own most of them.
I really cant understand how they’d settle on such an average system when they could instead encourage normal gameplay by simply providing less xp but more consistently by promoting normal healthy gameplay - perhaps with bonus boss kills thrown in from time to time to boost it along.
I’m confused by what youre saying. They are integrated into your daily play activities. I complete challenges all the time without even looking at what they are. I guess I’m just not sure what the difference is between what you are suggesting and what we have today.
I’m fine with the current system. I don’t need a Battle Pass to encourage me to play. If the game is fun, I’ll play it anyway. If it isn’t, a BP will just be a chore that tries to manipulate me into playing it.
If they “integrated” the BP into the main game, that would actually be worse, because they would have to remove all the ways we’re allowed to optimize our progress. Instead, they would make it so that everyone has to grind at more or less the same pace, plodding through the Battle Pass.
The way it is now, it never takes me more than two weeks of relaxed playing to get the BP done. If I wanted to force it, I could do it in a week or less. I’m much happier this way, and I don’t want the BP added to the list of things I have to worry about in this game.
This is exactally what i have been doing since it started. I havnt done it for a while and i was only rank22 yesterday and i did about 8 tasks in admin mode (spawned the enemies, killed them, teleported myself to the areas requested) and i was suddenly rank 50? WTF? A few months content finished in around half an hour, and i paid coins for this?
The admin panel is responsible for me not enjoying the game in quite a few other ways, such as not playing in single player because there is the temptation to cheat. Minecraft is a similar example where if you play in signle player mode, at anytime you can change the game to “peaceful” mode and bang, everything is easy af. It would be nice if there was an option to start a single player with no access to the admin panel.
Being able to go from 22 to 50 like that isn’t part of the normal BP. It’s an event to make up for the colossal blunders surrounding the release.
Sorry, but no, it isn’t. You’re the one responsible for that:
Long story short, if you can choose whether or not to do something that makes your game less enjoyable, and you choose to do it anyway, then it’s your own fault and you don’t get to try to force everyone else to adapt to your preferences.
Having challenges give some sort of tangible reward outside of the BP exp would be good. I definitely think they should be tied to the decay system as well in order to help determine active gameplay, when challenges are completed on a server. Like some have already reported, you get challenges done through normal gameplay. Having it needed to stave off decay would be a great resource to stave off refreshers.
The feature would have several controls available to server admins to determine how much decay is applied daily, how much of the bar can be filled at a time (maximum) and how much challenge exp applies (basically a multiplier). This way the amount of time that can be banked is determined by the server owner. If setup properly, normal players who play everyday won’t notice a difference.
I would like to see the BP challenges at least Line up with current player in game progress for eg: I had just started a new game and it sucks that one of my first legendary challenges was to donate gold to a cofer worth 10,000 gold or something like that so I rerolled and got the dance on the pagoda legendary challenge way deep in the jungle when I’m not even past the iron stage yet.
Funcom if my character is lvl 4 please don’t send her to the volcano to visit the oracle. That was my third legendary challenge by the way.
Honest question: would you prefer to not get legendary challenges at all when you’re level 4? Because that’s what it sounds like. Legendary challenges are supposed to be beyond a level 4 character’s ability to complete.
Same, I get a little bit more out of it, since I typically knock them out on two accounts if the non-paid stuff is something I want. But that’s only 2-3 days more. I’ve got challenges down to a science (which wouldn’t give an advantage in my suggestion).
I play mainly single player servers anyway but only just started an official sever recently just to see the difference and mix it up a little so i can always just complete the challenge on my private play no problem and I did. But going by the POV as a new player just starting on official I would like to see them maybe add or alter or maybe lvl lock some of the challenges to suit lower player level I’m not saying that lower lvl players should get no legendary challenge’s. EG: A player new at lvl 4 could get visit Sepameru as a legendary challenge, players at lvl 20 or around could get visit the ruins of xelha or a player around lvl 50 could get visit the volcano after lvl 60 those challenges could get removed and replaced in the pool with different more challenging types of challenges.
Thanks for pointing that out. I strongly believe they should downgrade that challenge to rare or even uncommon.
I mean, seriously, why do they give the same reward for “pray at the Set Altar in Sepermeru” and “complete the Sunken City dungeon”?!
I think that would be fiddling with the wrong mechanic. Journeys are there to guide the players’ progression. Challenges should be what their name implies: they should challenge players to complete tasks and reward them based on the difficulty of the task.
There’s nothing wrong with legendary challenges being “truly legendary”, as people on this forum are so fond of saying
I agree the challenges should be challenging and help drive the player but asking a player to visit the oracle at the volcano as one of the first challenge is like telling the player basically finish the game before the challenge resets.
I just think that Any challenge that involves the volcano should probably start after the player discovers new asgarth or the mounds of the dead cause at least you’re near there and only need worrying about temperature stats at that time. Putting such a challenge at the start only takes the spot of a challenge that the player could be doing that’s more realistic. But hey if a player is capable of speed running to the volcano from the start then good on them they should be award with more then 150 points than that tho.
How is it forcing everyone else?
I create a single player game, window pops up - “Would you like to play in hardcore mode?? (Cheats disabled)” - I click yes, therefore it is my choice but in no way am i forcing it on others, you click no. It gives us both a style of play that we enjoy.
yes i was paying attention, i knew this event was on, but even for a extra xp event it seems a bit too much.
